Gorgeous.
This book is gorgeous. The art, the design, the graphics. Everything about it is just gorgeous. The digital format looks so great that I have to imagine a nice hardcover is just going to up the ante.
Lots of fun, useful tips - up to and including a playlist for some suggested songs.
Lovely, just lovely.
I received this book in exchange for a honest review from NetGalley.
This was not at all what I was expecting and I was delighted. I will be bringing my friends together soon to play at least one or two of these campaigns they all sound so much fun!! They are funny and clever and seem like they are really well put together. Very excited to try these out!
Wonderful compilation of interesting looking mini D&D campaigns. The illustrations are lovely and each campaign is straight forward and easy to understand. I can't wait to purchase this book and try them out with my friends!
Rolled & Told was introduced to me as having a mix of comics and tabletop roleplaying content, and it’s out from Lion Forge, a comic publisher. So I thought there’d be some comics. Imagine my surprise when there were nearly no comics in Rolled & Told, Volume 1. This collection has 11 pre-made adventures, most of which contain a 2-page comic giving a vignette of the start of the adventure. It also includes a massive number of articles and lots of resources for tabletop gaming. All told, there are less than 20 pages of comics in this large book, and there is no plot or character development to them, as they come in such short chunks meant only to introduce. This has TONS of content for playing 5th Edition Dungeons & Dragons, but definitely don’t pick this up for the comic side of things. It is not particularly accurate to label this as “comics & graphic novels,” as I saw it when I selected it for review.

Oh gosh I can't wait to play these - not only is each adventure filled with exciting fights and fun stories, the book contains beautifully illustrated comics and maps to accompany each module. I've used a few of their modules in the past and having them all in one volume is SO AWESOME. Highly recommended for DMs and players of all levels. The modules are easy enough to insert into an ongoing adventure or just use for a fun oneshot.
I loved this mix of DnD modules, comics and articles! They were super fun and original, perfect for either a one-shot or as a side quest in a longer campaign, easy to adapt for your characters and full of maps, objects and NPC information. The art was so pretty and colorful and the aesthetic matched the tone perfectly. It could even be adapted to play with older kids and get them into roleplaying games!
Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this early copy!
The art style was interesting and well done. However, I struggled to get into this because I've never played d&d and did not realize that this was not a graphic novel like I expected.
This is a fun graphic novel. Bright and colorful art style helps too. I"ll be recommending this one to our patrons.
I absolutely loved the story portrayed in this graphic novel! It was super fast paced and very enjoyable. It’s geared for young adults but, I believe a person of any age could enjoy it. The artwork is absolutely phenomenal as well and I can’t wait to read more in the future.
When I first heard about this new magazine/series, I was excited to see so many of my favorite things come together! There's great character art, RPG modules, comics, and tips & tricks sections to wow your players. It had a lot to offer, and I think it did a great job living up to all of those things. The only thing I was sad to miss out on was extended storytelling through the comic medium. Those sections are short for a reasons, but I would totally read full graphic novels with these characters! Here's hoping that we get lots more in the future! And maybe some new characters will be introduced also.
This just wasn't what I was expecting-- I thought this would be more of a D&D-type comic, but instead it was a bunch of mini arcs you could play through in a round of D&D. They seemed pretty fun, it just wasn't what I was ready to read.
Rolled & Told Volume 1 is a brilliant RPG guide, giving new and experienced players a novel approach to entering a new roleplaying universe. It’s fully comprehensive, giving a detailed story, intricate villains, and settings that will excite and challenge. A few highlights:
-Detailed campaigns with background information and coordinated artifacts, villains, and conclusions
-A bevy of creatures and creations including a chocolate golem, a horde of ogres and a pack of gnomes, to name a few
-A good variety of indoor and outdoor settings from villages to mountain passes to dungeons
-Beautifully drawn companion maps, each in a different style related to the story
-Short comic panels to kick off the mission and inspire the player’s imaginations pre-game
-A complete guide for new dungeon masters with tips and tricks in an easy to understand format
This is a great roleplaying guide. For beginners, it’s a way to learn how to interact with these games and get the most enjoyment out of the events. For experienced players, it’s a quick campaign that doesn’t require days of planning. Let the fun begin!

This book is a great addition to anyone's collection or professional reference collection. It's 11 D&D 5th Edition adventures along with the associated comics. I'm keeping it vague to not spoil the adventures but it's great for a tabletop gaming program or as a way to allow patrons to run their own adventures!
5 stars. I freaking LOVE this book! It contains adventures for tabletop gaming (specifically D&D).
I love it so much, that halfway through reading the e-version I got from NetGalley, I went and preordered the hard copy.
This is an adventure book for D&D 5th edition. It contains 7 long adventures and 6 mini adventures (though you could tweak them to make them longer). What sets these adventures apart from others I have read is I can actually see myself running these. Often, adventure modules are either too complicated and I get lost in too many options, or the story is sparse and I can't find the hook/motivation. These strike the perfect balance of story and fighting. They range from zany (an airship battle with gnomes and goblins) to scary (undead plagues). I really want to use "Mama Yum-Yum's Big Ol' Birthday BBQ" adventure with my party! It combines humor with a lot of challenge--just what my D&D group likes. Ghosts, vampires, dragons--everything I love is here. Two have school settings (a particular favorite of mine!) and one has a carnival setting (love it). Most of these would be great for first-timers, or could be modified for children.
The art, provided by a variety of artists, is wonderful--fun and lively. The back section of the book contains maps, some interesting articles, a gallery of art, and character sheets for the adventuring party illustrated in the adventures.
Highly recommended for dungeon masters, or anyone who's interested in D&D.
I received this review copy from the publisher on NetGalley. Thanks for the opportunity to read and review; I appreciate it!
