Such a delicious book , peopled by an eclectic mix of character. Never were there such star crossed lovers, misunderstandings and mayhem ! I wanted to be friends with these glorious flawed and wonderful group of people . Jill Mansell draws one effortlessly into her world where love always seems to triumph in the end . I particularly loved the relationship between mother and daughter Izzy and Katerina . The dynamics between the mismatched group of friends is well observed and well written. Jane Austen for the 21st century! Brilliant

I love Jill Mansell books though I hadn't realised that this was a re-release. Still, haven't come across one yet that doesn't deserve 5 out of 5!

What a great story by Jill Mansell. One can see how far her writing has come and how she has matured. Great east read for someone looking for something new and fresh to sink their teeth into.

This is a re-release if a previously published book and, although some attempt was made to update it, it still feels a bit outdated. The premise of the book is good, it’s okay... I just didn’t cheer for any of the characters, they didn’t resonate with me well. Generally I connect with and love Jill Mansel’s books, this one just wasn’t it for me.

I really struggled to get into this book. i am not sure if it was because it was a re-release of an old book or what but I couldn't connect with the characters and I felt a little lost.

This is a great read from Jill Mansell. It's a reprint from it's original release in 1993, and although I realised that I'd read it before it didn't stop me enjoying and reading it all the way through. It's a perfect holiday read, with engaging characters and a superstar plotline. You will find yourself shouting at certain people at times though!

As a fan of this author this one does not disappoint in the least. Although a little formulaic in structure, for the genre it makes for a happy and easy read. I will suggest this book to anyone who is familiar with Ms. Mansell and has enjoyed her previous works.

I had forgotten how much I love Jill Mansell as I’ve not read much of hers for a while, however a few pages into this book and I quickly remembered.
This book is engaging, touching but also light hearted. As with all of her books, the characters quickly draw you in and make you want to know what’s going to happen. This is an easy read that I’d recommend.

In this book you enter the lives of Izzy van Asch, her daughter Kat, Gina and Sam . It was a fun, frothy light read with plenty of unexpected twists. The perfect summer read!
This book has been released before in 1993 and 2006, but there is always a new generation of Jill Mansell fans.
Thank you to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Landmark and Jill Mansell for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review

Kiss by Jill Mansell was first published in 1993. This is a new edition being published this year. I didn't realise that when I first undertook to read and review it, and it made me a little cautious. After finishing it, I have mixed feelings about it. It was fun, it made me chuckle at times, and read well as almost historical fiction at this point in time!

There are a number of characters and relationships and happenings. Some of the relationships made me raise my eyebrows and one seemed really too unbelievable, but luckily didn't last long. It's set in England with a little trip here and there further afield.

Izzy in her later thirties is one of the main characters, a singer who believes in living life and having fun and not worrying too much about finance. Katarina her seventeen old, more serious daughter is more inclined to be the adult in the family. Izzy as the book opens has one guy for two nights, another for another two nights, works two nights and has one night for herself. However an accident puts an end to that whole scenario.

Gina who causes the accident, takes Izzy and Katarina in when they have to leave their flat because they can't pay the rent. She - Gina,  has just had rid herself of a no good husband who features further in this story in a completely yucky way. She flounders around for quite awhile but eventually through many trials actually finds someone she loves.

Well they all do - eventually. While not my favourite Jill Mansell book, I didn't mind spending awhile  in the wacky world of these characters.

I couldn't get through this book. The characters were hard to like, and I couldn't relate to any of them. The story keeps jumping around from one boring storyline to the next. I really wanted to like this book, but it was not for me!

I truly enjoyed this book. The characters are, well characters. We get to see Izzy fulfil a dream, but is it enough. We get to see Kat go through teenage craziness. Poor Sam, will he ever be with his love? Gina rides a roller coaster of situations. Most of these folks meet because of a car accident and thank goodness it happened. I hope you settle in and enjoy the adventures of these wonderful folks. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

I love Jill Mansell - she gives great stories that do make you feel good.
This is an early one from Jill that is re-released. I found the characters to be quite funny (verging on annoying at times maybe?) and there are plenty.
The book flows nicely, its fairly well written (as you would expect from Jill) but you can tell its an early one.

I think fans would find it ok and enjoy it for the most part.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Headline Book Pub Ltd for the advanced reader copy of "Kiss".
I am conflicted about this review. While I enjoyed the overall storyline and realize this is an older book that is being republished, it is such a departure from the Jill Mansell I've been reading for a decade. I missed the British spellings and humor that I've come to associate with her unique writing style. This would be a great book for someone new to this author and I highly recommend her and this book. However, longtime fans may find the 'Americanized' writing a big change.

3.5/5

This was an entertaining, well-written book. A single mom and her late teens daughter cross paths with a newly single woman unexpectedly and they become roommates. They have very different personalities and lifestyles. They and their circle of friends experience a hilarious, unpredictable variety of events in their quest for love and fulfilling their futures. I enjoyed this book and would read other books by this author.

I love Jill Mansell because I always know what I am going to get:
funny female characters, quirky life events, and plots that come together and everyone gets what's coming to them!
Mansell is wonderful for when you want to escape the monotony of life and find a British fantasy land. Kiss is no different. Think singers making it big, divorces turning out to be the best thing that ever happened, finding love in unexpected places, and unrequited love that is so satisfyingly requited by the end!

This one is not my favorite of Mansell's, but it does the trick!

KISS takes the reader on a wild ride with irrepressible Izzy Van Asch and her growing cadre of friends and lovers.

Izzy may not have much money, but she has a brilliant daughter, Katerina, two devoted lovers, and a few singing jobs. But when Gina, distraught over her husband leaving her for his pregnant mistress, hits Izzy’s motorbike, Izzy loses her job and her apartment and her lovers. Gina grudgingly takes in Izzy and Katerina. Gina’s friend, Sam, returns from the US and Izzy and Sam both promise to ignore their attraction for one another while living under Gina’s roof.

The plot twists might give some readers whiplash, but Izzy is such a fun character, you have to keep reading to see what happens next. What is most remarkable about the book is that while it’s ostensibly a romance, the friendships the women forge and manage to sustain, even as they occasionally become romantic rivals, are the more compelling story.

KISS was originally published in 2000 and is being reprinted. One of the subplots is really cringey, which should have been addressed to make the novel stronger. Even so, it’s a five pound bag with ten pounds of potatoes.

I couldn't wait to read this book. It's only the second novel of Jill Mansell that I have read. Needless to say it did not disappoint. It was a romantic novel with a great story running through it. Once again the characters became alive as I was reading the book. It's a tale of an unmarried mother, Izzy, who is a singer and dreams of making it to the big time. All of her daughters young life, Katrina, has known nothing but living from one day to another however her relationship with Izzy is terrific. Izzy is knocked off her motorbike and loses her two boyfriends and the place she was renting. Katrina is livid with Gina the woman who caused the accident. She goes to see her and gives her a piece of her mind but feels slightly bad as Gina is obviously very upset by it all. Is the accident the real reason that Gina is upset? Read the book and find out what is the cause. Gina becomes the Good Samaritan and offers Izzy and Katrina a place to live. As the story unfolds it's Jill Mansell at her best. I don't want to say anymore and give the plot away. If you have never read any Jill Mansell novel, then I suggest you start. You will not regret it. If you are a Jill Mansell lover then buy and read this excellent novel. Forget your chores, get a drink, put your feet up and read.
