Delta comes to small town Montana to get out of her rut and make her dream come true by partnering with her friend in operating a stationery store and giving classes. Just after the first class a rather wealthy woman with local connections is murdered and the friend's brother seems to be railroaded as primary suspect. Enter a former K9 handler/wildlife guide/photographer, a group of other shop owners who also want the right suspect arrested, and a substantial suspect pool. Let the sleuthing begin! Good plot complete with twists and red herrings. A good read!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from Poisoned Pen Press via NetGalley.
Last Pen Standing is a quaint cozy mystery with great characters. I enjoyed the characters and the plot.
What would you do if a family member gave you a financial windfall? When Delta’s grandmother gives her some money rather than waiting for her to inherit it, she has some choices to make on how to spend it. So she quit her job and moved to Tundish. Montana to become her friend’s business partner at Wanted, a stationery and paper crafting store.
Wanting her grandmother to see the return on her investment, Delta is eager to share pictures and updates to document her progress. But as soon as she arrives in town, her business partner is thrown in jail when she lies to protect her brother who is arrested for murder at a swanky party at the local hotel. Definitely not the story she wanted to share with her grandmother, but knowing she will see it eventually, she decides to tell her grandmother the truth. Soon Delta and the Paper Posse, the local crafting group, are hard at work trying to clear Hazel and her brother and find the real murderer.
Old West ambiance adds to the charm of this new series and delivers a solid first entry. Looking forward to the next visit to Tundish!
I’m a fan of this author and this book captured my attention from the beginning,
I consider myself a huge fan of paper and pens, so this particular story was very appealing.
I think the characters worked well together and the story itself flowed smoothly from the pages.
I really like the name of the shop and how the Paper Posse rallied around their own to solve the mystery. I’m excited to see what’s next for this series.
A charming town, strong characters, sit back and enjoy this cosy murder/mystery. Delta has to prove that her friends are not murderers and owning a craft shop and the descriptions of the town, adds to this appealing and delightful story. You won’t be disappointed.
Last Pen Standing is a fun mystery with charming characters and the perfect "who-dun-it". I haven't had the pleasure of reading many of the authors novels but I am excited to see where this series takes us and looking back at her former books.
I'm always looking for new crafting cozies so I was excited to see this one and found it to be a fun read. The setting of a paper craft store in an old jail is definitely different! Love the small town descriptions and the charming characters, looking forward to getting to know them more.
A new to me author that I enjoyed! I love to read crafting mysteries and this paper craft store setting was a fun read!
Delta and her friend Hazel are co-owners of Wanted, a charming paper crafts store located in the old sheriff's jail in Tundish, Montana, a tourist town located in the old West. After Delta moves to the town a murder occurs and Hazel and her brother Finn become prime suspects. Now Delta has to prove them innocent or lose her friend and dream of owning a store forever.
The description of the store, town and it's citizens was charming. Like all small towns, there's always something going on under the surface! Delta is determined to solve the murder and get her friend & dream back. I enjoyed the interaction between the characters and while there is a little romance, it's not overwhelming.
I'm looking forward to the next visit to Wanted!
I received an ARC, from NetGalley for a fair and honest review of this book.
