Interesting-Do we really know our neighbours? This book is well-written but a little slow in places. However, it is complex and intriguing so stick with it-right till the end. Recommended.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for the early copy.
I did not connect with the main plot/writing style. I decided to put it down.
Domestic draaaaaaaaaaama! This close cul-de-sac of Raven Lane has quite the characters. When one of them, Torn, dies in an accident, Benedict is now on trial for hitting him with his car. Once it's realized he wasn't entirely sober, this accident becomes a torrid insight to the lives of everyone on Raven Lane.
This starts off strong and then towards the middle, I began to lost a little bit of interest. Nothing too exciting was happening. The book within a book (which sometimes works for me and sometimes doesn't) wasn't doing anything for me... until towards the end. And now I kinda want to read that book! The last few chapters starts to get more exciting and boy oh boy... these people need some HELP! But I love to hate characters and some of these were FUN to hate on. I'm not *quite* sure what I even think about that ending though. HUH? I'm not particularly confused as I just didn't think it made a whole lot of sense. And what happened about *this* and *that*? I don't mind being left wanting a bit but certain things I feel needed to be addressed and they never were.
As domestic dramas go, this was a fun one to be a part of. While some things might not have worked completely for me, I was eagerly awaiting for more secrets to come to light. And remember y'all - we all have monsters inside of us - one way or the other. *wink*
Side note: I couldn't read Torn's name without having Natalie Imbruglia's song ping off in my head. So now that's my sound track for the day.
I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. It grabbed my attention and held it. I liked the characters and enjoyed the plot twists. While it may have been slightly predictable, it didn't take away from me enjoying the path it was taking.
I really recommend this book despite its mixed reviews elsewhere. I really enjoyed the characters and where the story went. While the ending was a little rushed and the middle perhaps a little long, the book kept my interest until the end. There were a lot of revelations about the neighbours that I didn't expect, some of which added to the story and some of which fleshed out the characters. Give it a go. You might like it!
This book centers around Esme and her husband, who live on a small cul de sac with their child.
One night Esme's husband, Benedict, reverses out of their drive and knocks over one of their neighbour's children.
Benedict is arrested and the neighbours start turning against the couple
I was so looking forward to reading this book. I love books like this. It was very a very strong start, but i found that i lost interest in it some parts of the book.
I did enjoy it overall, but it was a little bit farfetched.
Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and Netgalley for an ARC of this novel for my honest opinion.
A twisty, turny story about a lot whole bunch of self absorbed people! If you like people who are just plain messed up this is the novel for you! Set on one street (Raven Lane) where the inhabitants are artistic, party goers, cheaters, liars, murderers and more! A quick, fairly entertaining read.
It started well but I really started to lose interest near the end of it. I couldn't connect with the characters. I didn't really enjoy all that much.
I highly recommend this, as I have done to friends of mine already. I expect great things from this author and I think she'll deliver.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I really was looking forward to reading this one but could not even finish it.
Raven Lane for the Win
I really enjoyed Rapid Falls so was very excited to be approved for Raven Lane, I wasn't disappointed either! I find myself drawn to a good suspense novel and this is one of the better ones for this year. If you like slow-burn domestic suspense, where no one is quite what they seem, you'll love Raven Lane. I raced through this book in just a few days, because I was so curious to find out everyone's secrets! I loved the multi layers of the characters and the unorthodox ending is very unexpected. If you have money to spend on books I would recommend adding this to your list. Esme, her husband Benedict & their daughter Zoe live in a close-knit neighborhood where nothing stays private. Benedict's car hit their neighbor who was riding by on a bicycle as Benedict was backing out of the driveway. Torn's bicycle was twisted beneath Benedict's back tire. I will not say more about the story because I think you have to peel this one back like an onion without the tears this was great.
I devoured Raven Lane and was quite annoyed when it came to an end as I was so enthralled by the characters! You could have a sequel on Esme and all of them for sure. Raven Lane’s inhabitants have secrets, so many and no one is really able to trust anybody, so when an accident occurs you can guarantee it’s going to bring deception and more trouble.
You must read this book!
Interesting plot with awkward characters. I was disappointed that the book did not meet my expectations.
I’m sorry but I was disappointed with this book and it became a DNF. I tried so hard to like it. To me it just started dragging and I put it aside. I picked it back up several times but finally just gave up.
Thank you to #NetGalley, #RavenLane and Lake Union for this arc.
Raven Lane is a tense chilling domestic thriller that drew me right in from the first pages and kept me reading long into the night. This book takes place in a quiet neighborhood, with nice houses and artistic people. There is a lot of socializing going on amongst the neighbors. The perfect neighborhood until the day of the accident, when Esme’s amazing life comes crashing down around her. Everyone turns against her, then they start discovering deep dark secrets in each others lives that they didn’t know about before. I love the characters of Esme and Benedict. A great surprise ending. I highly recommend this one. I would like to thank Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion of this book.

Esme & Benedict's relationship was awkward and weird and I found it painfully irritating how the story of Esme's past/secret was built up and dragged out especially when it turned out to be something far less than mind blowing. The way everything ended made it worth the read & I thought Torn's story within the story was great.
I found the plot extremely interesting. Great mystery/ who-done-it that kept me guessing and the ending floored me! Good solid writing and interesting quirky characters.
Strong 4 stars. Really enjoyed reading
This is not what I expected it was going to be. The book is listed as a mystery/thriller, and it is more a domestic drama. Although it was not what I expected, it was still a well-written story about deception, lust, and obsession.
You must be someone special to live on Raven Lane. The neighbours are close friends and, like with any close friends, lines are often crossed. Benedict is backing out of his driveway on his way to get more wine. He did not see his neighbour Torn passing behind the car on his bike; now Torn is dead. This is a dramatic event and, as in all good drama, the truth comes out. No one is innocent.
A twisty turny novel about lies, scandals, murder, and all of the betrayals and secrets that a neighborhood could hold.
I couldn’t get into this book at all unfortunately. I found it quite far fetched and the characters were all really unlikeable .
