Once again Nancy has hit another smash hit out of the park!! I was riveted by the story line and read the book in one day. So hard to put down!!
Fire Storm has a great story and is one that makes you feel like you’re there watching as things unfold. Nancy Mehl’s book had my attention after the first page and I didn’t want to stop reading.
Besides the gripping plot, the characters are described well enough that you can picture them. Their personalities are revealed a little at a time, just like it often happens in real life. This also keeps you guessing on how it will turn out. The mystery of who is behind the events is concealed behind a few twists and a couple of red herrings that prevent you being certain of the end.
Trusting in God is a big part of life for some of the characters. Seeing something like this in a book helps people see that message in a different light. Especially since the characters share the same spiritual struggles that we face.
I can’t think of anything that was bad in this book. There was mystery, suspense, action, faith, something for everyone. I think this book would appeal to a wide audience. I enjoyed reading the book all the way through.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
Fire Storm by Nancy Mehl is a thought process crime solving fires around Darkwater. I enjoy reading stories where the reader gets to follow the heroine, Kaely Quinn, as she solves a crime. I love reading the thought processes. It helps complete the mystery for me. I enjoy seeing them work through the information they know, and how they come up with a solution. While the story idea isn't original, the hunt for the villain made me a little upset. Mehl explains pretty early on who the fire chief believes is the arsonist, and Mehl allows the story to lead that way. I would have enjoyed the villain being another character. I had another character in mind who I don't believe most people would have suspected, and he fit the attributes of the arsonist also. But Mehl took the easy way out. While this element bothered me, the heroine Kaely Quinn is pretty heroic. I really enjoy her ability to talk to Georgie and the suspects in her mind. I do that sometimes when I'm plotting a character, so I understand her dilemma. Overall, Fire Storm was a well-written romantic suspense novel that captured my attention and carried a wonderful heroine. I can't wait to see what drama Mehl places in her for the next novel.
I received a complimentary copy of Fire Storm by Nancy Mehl from Bethany House Publishers, but the opinions stated are all my own.
