A tale of literally star-crossed lovers. While the art style makes it seem soft and sweet - and it is, for the most part - it has some bite behind it, showing just how miscommunications can make a budding relationship stop blooming.
This was such a pleasing and endearing follow up to the first volume. I love how their relationship progresses and the art style is beautiful.

Thanks to Netgalley and Tokyo Pop for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. It has not influenced my opinions.
I really liked this manga. I loved the second volume as the first one! We know a bit more about Niko, and Fynn life, exploring the characters in more depth. The illustrations are amazing as for the first volume.
I'm not new with manga and the genre boys love, I read in the past other stories. I find this story particularly nice, I see some familiarity in other boys love manga, but maybe because that's the style. Sometimes there is a bit too much drama, but that's how we love it! To conclude, this is a lovely romantic manga but for a more adult reader, so 16 years old up. Cannot wait to read more about Fynn and Niko!!
This is a nice little lovely story about two young men who fall in love. One is rather quite one while the other is a nerdy stargazer. It is a classic case of opposites attract.
So, in this second volume, Fynn and Niko comes closer to each other and trying to know more about each other. But there is still some friction between them. Fynn cares for Niko but somehow feels that there is some kind of barrier between them. Niko has secrets which he shared with his ex-girlfriend but he doesn't want to tell Fynn. Also, he wasn't comfortable with telling people that he and Fynn are together. With all these barriers, will their relationship survive?
I was glad to see that this volume explores the characters in more depth, in comparison to the volume 1. I loved how they both tried to understand each other better. I loved all the stargazing.
I would really like to appreciate how gently the sex scene was handled.
The artwork is brilliant just as the first one.
This second volume is just as amazing and attention and feel grabbing at the first one!
I was so happy when I saw that it was avaliable to request since I just about feel in love with the tale of this two.
Sophie and Anna created just a amazing, and I loved the story flow from the vol 1 and to this one!
The story continues! Niko and Fynn get to know each other better and overcome various relationship hurtles. (Which included introducing each other as a couple to their families.) The continuation of the story was engaging and flowed well for the most part. The art is, still, wonderful.
The only slight hang up I had was that it was NSFW and, as a librarian, I tend to read most of my NetGalley reviews on my work computer. Just a heads up for those who do the same. ;-P
It was so nice to get a change to see what happened next with Fynn and Niko!
Unfortunately, I didn't love the story line quite as much as I did in the first Volume.
The art was still great and I still absolutely love Niko's character.
A sweet continuation of the first volume, the artwork is stunning and it is wonderful seeing how this relationship develops. Hoping for a translation of volume 3 soon!
Star Collector Vol. 2 is just as cute as the previous one and a good end for a duology. It delves into more Fynn and Niko's relationship and the challenges they have to overcome, namely Niko's secretive behaviour and avoidance when it comes to talking about his family. Truthfully, Niko frustrated me a bit even if his behaviour is understandable and has a good explanation. However, Fynn is adorable treasure! He's such a delight, especially since he's so excited about spending time with Niko compared to his apathy in the beginning of the story.
The art is great again, I really like it. My only complain about Star Collector Vol. 2 is that there's one thing that's not resolved in the end and it bugs me. It's a cute ending for a adorable duology, but it felt a tiny bit rushed and thus few things are unresolved. Otherwise, Star Collector is a lovely story with adorable main characters!
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ah, Goodreads, thank you for not bothering to change the summary from the first installment!
This second installment focuses on Flynn discovering Nico’s secrets. My main issue with the first book was Nico had no backstory. Fortunately, this installment reveals his past.
In this volume, Nico becomes a more intriguing character. Flynn and Nico’s relationship is still sweet, but gains more depth. In tone and content, this book is more serious than the first. Both boys continue to develop. Since this is a short work, any plot point discussion would be a spoiler, but I loved the final scene.
I liked Star Collector Volume II a lot, it’s a fitting conclusion to the story. The artwork is lovely.
My only major complaint is the pacing. A few scenes happen abruptly and some conversations are too fast.
I enjoyed this graphic novel. If either author writes another book, I’ll definitely check out their future work.
Ok, this one almost ended up in my "caught in a bad romance" shelf but saved itself just in time.
It's an, I would say, pretty accurate representation of young romance though, and a couple of kids going through some of the pains of growing up. There's a little more character development than last time as well.
Caution: this one is a little more "graphic" than volume 1. Sexy times do happen... in a VERY... uncensored... manner.
I really liked the story of this manga. The plot flowed very nicely and there were plenty of ups and downs. But not so many that it seemed unrealistic. I liked how the relationship between Niko and Fynn developed throughout the book. I didn't always like how Niko would treat Fynn, I felt like he was pushing him away instead of just talking to him. But then I thought, when it feels like your whole life is falling apart it's really hard to sit and explain something to someone that you thought would just love you without expectation. But I also see where Fynn was coming from as well. He needed Niko to confide in him because he felt like Niko didn't trust him enough to tell him what was going on in his life. Overall, I really liked this book and I'm pretty bummed that this is the last one. I would love to read more about Niko and Fynn. I would recommend this manga for fans of slice of life or sweet yaoi manga.
I LOVED the first volume of this series so much and fell in love with Fynn and Niko and was super excited to get to read the second volume. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an e-copy of this one to me in exchange for an honest review.
The first volume was great, but the second volume was fine; it didn't really live up to the same level of excitement as the first maybe because the relationship was so new and the characters were just getting to know each other. The second volume was more like a continuation of the growth of the relationship and picks up pretty much where the first ended.
Some of the art and plot feel a bit rushed for me as well. I think that in the first volume I was trying to get into the story and learn about the characters, so I was really taking the time to read the text and look at all the art so I really appreciated all the detail and small things the illustrations added to the text. In the second volume, however; there seems to be a little less detail in the illustrations for me. Perhaps I just looked at the art too much in the first volume and not enough in the second.
Overall, I liked reading this and I liked the progression of the story and the relationship between the two. I think it really hits on some major points that people deal with in their teen years, especially when it comes to LGBTQIA individuals and how their relationships and orientations may be perceived. I like that this series really hits on the big parts of budding relationships and the intricacies of romances between people, regardless of sexual orientations as well as how things can change between people. I loved that Niko and Fynn's relationship evolved and include more domestic and real life things, like Niko's familial relationships. I think that this is very realistic; as the initial excitement of a new relationship wears off, the everyday becomes the main focus. I enjoy how this volume of the series makes these things clear but also maintains the initial interest in astronomy and star watching.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading the second volume of this series, even though it didn't live up to the initial hype I had with the first volume. I am so glad I was able to read this one and hope for more to come. I gave this one three stars on Goodreads, just because it didn't seem to capture me as much as the first did, even though I did enjoy it immensely.
This was my first Manga, and I must have overlooked the fact that it was a sequel. It was interesting, especially getting to read a new format to me. I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read Vol. 1 first. Nothing against the manga itself, that was my mistake.
Review to be posted in 2 days on my blog and Goodreads.
I received this comic from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.
The final volume in this superduper adorable duology. I was delighted and squeeing when I saw this book up on Netgalley. OMG, the second volume! I wanted to see how the relationship between Niko and Fynn would continue (please no rivals or that silly crap) and if we would get tons and tons of romantic scenes.
I am reviewing this one as I read~ So come along while I read.
Aww, Fynn, you are adorable that you don't care how early it is, instead just hop on your bike and cycle to your sleepy boyfriend. That scene when he arrived and Niko opened the door sleepily, awww! And then there was a sexy scene, though Fynn, boy, Niko said he was tired. :P
The cuteness continues, and I am delighted that both of them are still watching the stars together. Fynn is learning what the different stars are, while also having cute moments with his boyfriend. Squee!
Mm, something feels off. If I had gotten such a heartfelt reaction, such a confession of love, I would have looked way way happier. What is going on? Is there a rift growing between my two cuties? Nooooes!
While I was a bit pissed at Niko for pushing away Fynn like that at the party, I could also understand. This doesn't seem the right crowd to come out to. I am sure there are people who will accept it, but there would be plenty who wouldn't. Combined with how drunk everyone is getting...
Argh Fynn, you should understand that Niko has different friends and that he tells them stuff at his own time. That he hasn't told you doesn't mean you need to go pissy at your ex. :| Also, pick the right moment. That moment just wasn't, AT ALL, the right one. Good grief. I get that you want to know things, I GET IT. But please, pick another timing.
*sighs*More drama, though I can imagine that Fynn is now getting a bit antsy about things. Niko keeps dodging, keeps going back to sex, then getting angry when Fynn doesn't want it because he first wants a good chat. Then he also learns that Nico doesn't want to come out at school, which again, I respect and understand, but yeah, that can endanger a relationship. Because Fynn doesn't care, and wants to be with you all the time and hearing that he can only be with you for the time that no one else is around... that fucking hurts. It finally all explodes, and I am sorry, I just wanted to smack Niko on his head. Dude. No. Just no. I was so on Fynn's side on this whole exchange.
I did think the next part felt rushed. I mean we go from arguments to them talking, which is good, but it just felt as if Niko had magically flipped all the way in just the span of one night, which doesn't seem real. He was so against it, and pushing a lot against Fynn, and now he is OK? And then someone else magically shows up, and sorry I was just rolling my eyes at this whole situation. And then Niko once again resorts to that and sorry, but please. Dude.
They do finally have the talk, and it made me happy to finally know more about Niko. I still think that Fynn is overreacting.
The visit to grandpa? Aww, that was just so sweet, though I was crying with how the conversations went. The author did a great job at capturing someone with alzheimer/dementia. I have worked for some time with people with alzheimer/dementia, and this was just spot on how conversations/interactions with most of them went.
Haha, I love Fynn's mom.
*snorts*Ah, the sex talk. I can imagine that it is not the best scenario to imagine, having get a dick in one's butt (or put your dick in someone's butt).
And so this one ends with a very hot and steamy scene (and I already thought their normal sexy times scenes were smoking, but dang this one takes the cake). The ending had me in tears, that was just so sweet and I am so happy for this couple.
All in all, a pretty fabulous volume though at times the pacing seemed a bit weird/off. I am glad that we got some sexy scenes, learned more about Niko, got to see this couple grow (though with some frustrating moments), and of course... the art was freaking fabulous again. Dang, that art. So beautiful.
I would recommend these two volumes to everyone looking for a nice and sweet LGBT comic.
This is a great translated manga, Thank you Tokyopop for proving this wonderful book for us! Although I have not read the first book and requested this without realizing it's the second novel. This is still a great series that I read a long time ago I was hoping I would be able to reread it but this works for reminscing as well.
Okay, so I was undecided whether I was going to read this or not, when I finished Vol 1, but I thought I'd give it another chance and hope for the best...
Sadly, I was disappointed.
While a second read of Vol 1 meant I could look past most of the biggest issues, I did feel that the same problems existed here - everything moved too fast, the relationship didn't feel genuine, and it didn't really have a purpose.
In the end, the purpose of the story seemed to be getting Niko to finally see a shooting star, which was fine. I liked that it was a consistent theme. I also appreciated how well the alzheimers storyline was handled, but there was a lot of drama for drama's sake: e.g. Fynn being jealous that Zoe knew something he did; Niko keeping his home life a secret; the continuous fights that led nowhere and were overreactions to simple situations. While Niko's father was homophobic, his independence from his family meant that it was pretty much a non-issue and it wasn't as though he'd been raised in a homophobic environment, being polluted with those thoughts. He was raised by his grandfather, who was more accepting, so I didn't see the point of that side-story except to explain away a single scar and Niko's secret-keeping.
I'm not sure why it had to be 2 volumes instead of one, but I was left disappointed by the ending, too. It was so abrupt and final, while very little substance had actually happened. All throughout this volume, I felt like Niko was pushing Fynn to have sex and being a bit single-minded about it, while Fynn was obsessing about everything within the relationship. It became less about 'star collector' (and I still have no idea what meaning that has to the story) and more about Niko and Fynn having sex and seeing a shooting star.
Overall, while I still like the illustrations and the general story, the potential was greater than the execution. The relationship felt forced and rushed, they didn't talk as a couple and both reacted irrationally to situations instead of talking. It had so much potential to be a great LGBT storyline with good characters and a back story, but it just failed to progress into something solid.
