A twelve-year-old self-appointed spy, Safer, recruits, Georges who is new to the building. A quick read and just as good as When You Reach Me. This is a sure hit for fans of Harriet the Spy.
It has been a long time since I read this book, but I know I enjoyed it and gave it four stars. I don't remember much else about it at this point, but I did order it for my library.
Super late with my review of LIAR & SPY by Rebecca Stead. I did read it, but I'm guessing I forgot about writing my review. I do like Stead and will add her titles to my school collection as long as they are juvenile or middle grade.
Excellent character development mixed with the possibility of possible mystery.
I really wanted to read this one when it first came out, but I ended up reading When You Reach Me first. I think that Liar & Spy was my favorite of the two. It reminded me of Harriet the Spy, one of my favorites. The setting, but not the story, of When You Reach Me also reminded me of Harriet the Spy’s New York, so I wonder if the author was influenced by that book. I liked the lighter tone and the quirky characters of Liar & Spy. This one had a twist, but it was a more realistic twist than her first book. I loved it. Even if you didn’t like When You Reach Me very much, try this one.
