This is a great psychological thriller that is captivating and kept me interested until the very end.
Just Like You is about Nicky who can't stop obsessing over Iain's new girlfriend while Isabel isn't prepared for Iain's obsessive fans. As lives begin to unravel the mystery becomes more tantalizing.
A must-read in my book!
Thank you Netgalley and Quercus Books for this advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
So, I just could get into this book. I know a lot of people liked it, bit it just wasn't for me. The characters and the plot just fell short and the reading was slow going.
I quite enjoyed this book, it was a little slow but it picked up and kept you hooked towards the end. The First book I’ve read by this author and I will be looking out for more by this author in the future.
Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to read this
This books premise sucked me in. But it didn't wow me as much as other thrillers do.
This is a quick thriller that is easy to get through. I saw the twists coming but it was still an enjoyable read.
I would recommend this book if you don't read a lot of thrillers, otherwise you may see the twist coming!
A creepy, tense tale of a woman obsessed with her ex-boyfriend's new girlfriend. In my opinion, this could have definitely benefited from a little more character development as I didn't feel invested that much in either sweet, perfect Isobel or bitter, jilted Nicky, but that having been said, I did enjoy this contemporary thriller and finished it in one sitting on a rainy afternoon. This is one for fans of quick, easy read thrillers rather than books with tons of twists and development.
NOTE: I was provided with a free ARC copy of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an unbiased review.
A creepy little story about an ex-girlfriend obsessed with the new girlfriend. And it doesn't stop there - the boyfriend has his own secrets going on! Lots of twisty things going on, still I didn't feel really connected to anyone in the story. Thank you to #Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book.
3 for neutral! Definitely was let down by this book. I had tried on many occasions to read it, but just could never get past the first few chapters. At first I thought I would love, but it sizzled quickly for me. Will update if able to read at a later date.
The premise of this book was interesting but very predictable the further into it I read. I was expecting many "red herrings" to keep it interesting but it never happened. So this was just an "OK" read for me; I will however read this author again, she shows promise especially if she sticks to the psychological thriller genre.
Nicky and Isobel, two women that are not sure about how their life is going to play out. Who is the victim? Both , one or neither of them? This book was an interesting read. I thought that it has several surprises that made this a fast read. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read this.

This book was okay. I didn’t care about either first person character. The only thing that got me to the end of this book was the why of it all. Why was Nicky doing this? Why was she stalking Isabel?
We see things from both Nicky’s and Isabel’s point of view. And when things go missing from Isabel’s apartment, I wasn’t sure why the taking of the objects wasn’t shown since we learn later it was Nicky. For a time I considered that Iain was just messing with Isabel. Some of their motivations seemed questionable.
Nothing rang true with any of the characters, I’m sorry to say. I thought this could have been a great book but it all fell flat for me.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Whoa, clear your schedule and be prepared to read this book straight through the night! Suspenseful, engaging and having many twists, I highly recommend this book!
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks NetGalley!
This book is a psych thriller about break-ups, obsession and jealousy. The book was slow at times, but the ending was interesting for sure. Plenty of people will adore this book.
An amazing thriller! Had a couple of red herrings that I tried to follow, plus a surprise ending. Highly recommended!
OOoo yessss I loved this one! Just look at that cover.. you know it's going to be a thriller by looking at that one. Y'all need to read this one because you will become hooked. I cannot wait to read more from Alison Percival.
In the book, Just Like You by Alison Percival, it follows the lives of two women, Nicky and Isabel. Nicky can’t stop obsessing over Iain Stewart, a Scottish actor, and his new girlfriend, Isabel. What does she have that Nicky Doesn’t? Why has Iain chosen Isabel over Nicky?
The story follows Nicky as her obsession grows and she vows to get the man of her dreams back.
I gave this book 3 stars. It was incredibly slow. The author did throw a few curve balls in but the book really didn’t pick up until you were more than half way through. For a psychological thriller, it should’ve grabbed my attention from the first chapter, and made it impossible to put down. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and it took me 2 weeks to read this book, instead of the maybe 2 days it should have. It just didn’t grab my attention.
The characters weren’t very likeable either and it was hard to really connect with them. Isabel was a bit weak and honestly just not a good person. She is one of those people who just cannot be alone. She started dating Dan when he was still dating Mairead, and then started dating Iain when she was still dating Dan. She just didn’t seem to have any integrity.
Iain was just a secondary character who was the root cause of all the issues but ultimately absent for the majority of the book.
Nicky was just bat crap crazy, and honestly, justifiably so due to her tragic childhood. But, even when the Author was describing the incidents from her childhood, Nicky was very detached from what happened, and it was almost like she just shrugged and went on with her life. Perhaps she was trying to portray how Nicky coped with her life and was happy with a detached reality, if you will.
In the end, the story needed a much better build up to the end that would grab the attention of the reader and keep them engaged in the book.
I enjoyed this book - it is told by 2 characters Nicky and Isabel who are very different but have a connection to one man Ian. Nicky is obsessed with Ian and is trying to destroy Isabel and Ian's relationship. This is a good suspenseful mystery. My first book by Alison Percival.
I loved this book. Who would not love Isabel, she's so sweet. Then you have Nicky the jilted ex looking for revenge. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat to see what Nicky is up to next. OH Lets not forget about Iain, he defiantly has his secrets, when will we get to the bottom of those?
This has a great mix of romance and suspense all wrapped in one book. If your looking for a little bit of both you have found it here!
I thought that this book was entertaining, though a bit predictable. I wasn’t crazy about the characters neither the protagonists nor antagonists. The story itself was a bit disjointed as the end was sewn up neatly and promptly. It was a big buildup, with a quick tie up in the end. Thank you Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately I did not really like this book. I found the characters unlike and a bit annoying. I thought the story at times was a bit of a disconnect and didn't really make sense. The plot was over done and something I have read over and over again in other psychological thrillers.
I would like to thank netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I didn’t find this book to be very captivating or engaging. The characters were not very realistic or relatable and the mystery was cookie cutter.
