I missed the part where this one was just an excerpt. I know lol and I’m a reader.
So I can’t fully review this title based on what I have read.
What I read was good and will likely buy the book upon release to continue reading.
Loved this preview of the first several chapters! It really sucks you in. Can't wait to get my hands on the full book in a couple of weeks!
4 solid stars! Really liked this book! I surprisingly enjoyed the short chapters and back and forth. This book kept my interest the whole way thru, which I appreciate. I did not expect the twists AT ALL! What a ride!
Really great book - The story drew you in and made you connect with all characters - main and secondary. It is my top read of 2019 so far!
I requested this not realizing this was only the first 5 chapters of the book! I was so sucked in to it that I pre-ordered it on amazon! I cannot wait until this book gets released!
Ah what a treat this will be! I devoured the first couple of chapters and now I want more! June 11 can't come fast enough!
OMG I feel cheated! I missed that this was just the first 5 chapters. UGH. As someone with RPL and infertility I am really curious how this will play out.
I only have the first five chapters of this book. With that said I can see it coming together and something that I will read once released. A handsome firefighter and an independent woman quite the pair! They meet accidently, literally. They never thought they would see each other again and wham! They are in their best friends wedding. One the maid of honor and the other the best man. It will be interesting to see how this chance friendship grows.
Remind me in the future to never, ever read excerpts from books, even extended ones. Because nothing is worse than enjoying something and then boom! There’s no more available, and you’re stuck waiting for weeks to find out what happens! To be honest, I usually don’t but I have been looking forward to this book for SO long that I couldn’t hold out any longer…and boom. (Sob!) I also have to admit that rom coms usually are not my first choice (no hot guys with guns) but this one is special and that is 100% due to Abby.
For those of you who may not be aware, Abby is the owner of Nadia Cakes and a previous winner of the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. So right there she has a leg up on EVERY other author I read because I’m a big fan of cupcakes! (Unfortunately both literally and figuratively, and I don’t live anywhere near any of her stores, another sob!) But now you’re really confused, aren’t you? What do cupcakes have to do with me wanting to read her book? This woman is freaking hilarious on social media and it’s my kind of humor too so I have been dying to see if the book contained her signature humor, and boy does it!
Does a traffic accident qualify as a meet cute? Because that’s how this story starts with Josh rear-ending Kristen in traffic. The humor starts quickly and you can just tell from the get go that these 2 are made for each other. I defy anyone to not get sucked into the storyline immediately!
While this is not a true review since I have not read the whole book, I wanted to make sure that all of you know that you NEED this book immediately upon release on the 11th! I am waiting (not so) patiently myself and have already preordered my copy!
Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for the ‘taste’ (heh!) of what is to come with this debut novel!
Ahhhh...LOVED LOVED LOVED the first few chapters and can't wait for the book to release to finish it up.
The banter between these two was epic and i am totally hooked!
The Friend Zone Chapter Sampler was very enjoyable. I like the characters and their chemistry. I became invested in the story over the 5 chapters. I am looking forward to reading the whole book. Thanks Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.
This ARC was the first five chapters of the book and I was disappointed when I got to the end. I can tell it's a book I want to read in its entirety when it finally comes out. Looking forward to it!
Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This five chapter teaser had me hooked and I was gutted when it came to an end! I'm really looking forward to when this comes out so I can get my hands on it and finish what I started. From what I read, it seems like there's going to be an intense build up and slow burn romance between Kristen and Josh, and while I have no doubt it's going to be a HEA, I'm excited to go on the journey with them to see how they get there! Although Kristen's character is a bit intense with a personality that has the potential to rub me the wrong way, Josh seems like the ultimate guy. Definitely swoon worthy. I'm rooting for him already!
This was a only a short preview but it seems like this will be a fun read, can't wait to see what happens in the rest of the book!
In the vein of Sally Thorne's "The Hating Game" and many Christina Lauren books, the premise of "The Friend Zone" is two people who initially dislike each other, but gradually start to like each other. After only reading the sample first five chapters, the plot seems a little predictable - Josh and Kristen meet by accident (literally), without exchanging names. The next thing they know, Josh is the best man in a wedding where Kristen is the maid of honor (they aren't at the wedding yet, but they meet again with those introductions). Kristen, with a boyfriend, is attracted to Josh. Josh is attracted to Kristen, but won't make a move if she has a boyfriend.
The sample chapters end with Kristen's boyfriend coming home (he's been deployed in the military throughout their whole relationship) and Josh working as a carpenter on the side for Kristen. It seems fairly likely that Kristen and her boyfriend will end up breaking up and she and Josh will get together, but in terms of a romantic comedy of a book, this looks like a fun, light read.
I really enjoyed this intro of five chapters of The Friend Zone. It definitely has me interested in wanting to read more of Josh and Kristen's story. What I have read seems to be very well written and the characters pull you in from the beginning.
This was just the first 5 chapters of the book. Great preview....I can't wait to read more of the book.
Since its incomplete I will not be giving a full review until I have read the whole book.
The good news is the preview was only 5 chapters, so I didn't lose sight of my Sunday afternoon commitments (laundry, meal planning, work, carpool plans, bills- basically prepping for another week) because I couldn't stop reading. The bad news is the preview was only 5 chapters, so I couldn't lose myself in Josh and Kristen's story and put off those necessary chores! Josh and Kristen's story starts with a bang. Josh literally rear ends her in traffic. Sparks fly and they go their separate ways. However, they meet again soon. Josh's best friend is marrying Kristen's best friend and they are the Best Man and Maid of Honor. They have fun chemistry and the story is just getting set up in the first 5 chapters. I look forward to reading more.
I've only read the first five chapters but I am HERE 👏 FOR 👏THIS 👏 BOOK! It took me two chapters to become hooked. Kristen and Josh are adorable and the dialogue between them is witty and so flirtatious. I cannot wait until June 11 when my pre-order arrives and I can read the rest of the story!
Sincere thanks to @NetGalley, @readforeverpub, and the author @authorabbyjimenez for the eGalley preview of The Friend Zone. All opinions are my own.
Loved it loved it just completely loved it so far. Can't wait to read the whole story. It was a great preview.
