Iggy is a very special dog. He is a facility dog. He facilitates communication between children and others when scary things happen. This story is told from a child’s point of view. They need to speak to adults, police, and others, and things seem very scary. But Iggy is there to help get through it all. This book is a great resource for those wanting to see a different side of service dogs.
Child abuse victims, when they are very young, are often frightened to have to go to court, and testify.
This picture book is about a dog that helps kids gain confidence and feel safe when they do have to go to court.

This is a sweet, reassuring book, about what the process is. Hopefully this book is followed like a real life dog like Iggy.
Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.
"A Friend Like Iggy" by Kathryn Cole
5 stars.
Easy, fast read.
Really beautiful! With a real message!
The photos are amazing, the story easy to understand and with a good message for children.
A trained facilitator dog should be available everywhere in those difficult cases. Children will feel at ease and more confident.
Yes, Iggy is a superstar, he does a great job!
The other message Iggy gives is "if you need help, tell a trusted adult."
The book cover is really beautiful as well.
Thank you to NetGalley and Second Story Press for the ARC of this book. This is my honest review. All opinions are my own.
This book deals with a difficult and scary subject. When a child has had something bad happen and must tell someone in authority, it is often easier to open up with a friend by your side. The photographs are wonderful. The subject matter is handled tastefully and sympathetically. This is a book that children will understand and might even be able to read by themselves.
Thank you to netgalley for providing me with a digital copy.
I would love to see this as an over sized print book in many offices where children could view it before they have a scary visit.
it's a fast, sweet and moving read with lovely picture.
It'll surely be appreciated by children and it can help adults to better understand the role of a dog in helping.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
