BOOK REVIEW

Cowboy movies were a big part of my childhood and as I got older I enjoyed cowboy novels, Louis L'Amour and Zane Grey being favourites. So I was pleased and intrigued to read a cowboy book with a twist. A dark supernatural twist but one that works very well within the storyline. If cowboys can beat aliens then they can certainly come up against a deadly evil foe of a supernatural nature. The plotline is beautifully simple, one of good versus evil. Its the author that gives it that special sprinkle of magic that takes that simplicity and weaves it into walk on the cowboy side of life. By adding historical people and events the author makes the book feel real and believable. You can almost feel the heat and dust of the Wild West seeping out of its pages. Our hero Nate and his friend Teta are tasked with discovering what is happening deep down in Wyoming in the abandoned mining town of Hecla. Something is wrong those that go there are never seen again. The longer Nate and Teta spend in Hecla the worse their time there gets. The author ramps up the suspense page on page. As more characters are introduced the story takes on a more sinister twist. Like tumbleweed through a parched wasteland you are carried through the pages of the book. Finally coming to rest deep in the bowels of then hell the author has created. A page turning, suspenseful, chilling and satisfyingly great cowboy book. A book that will appeal to both lovers of horror and of the Wild West. It will keep you thoroughly entertained till the very end.
