Such a cute book with basic language, perfect for growing little ones. The illustrations match perfectly and it’s quick enough to make for an ideal bedtime read.
Hmmm… I'll admit I don't have a young child to test this out on, but it strikes me that the worst way to get a little nipper to fall asleep is to ask it a loaded question. I've seen other books designed to lead youngsters into the land of nod, but this one, that shows a bizarre selection of animals living the last minutes of their evenings in the most hyper-energetic ways, then asks its audience if they're ready for bed ("ARE YOU ASLEEP YET??!!"), seems to be quite counter-productive. To repeat, I don't know, but have the expectation that this, as pretty as it looks, wouldn't work.
Thank you Netgalley and Clavis Publishing for this very sweet book, Bedtime by Guido Van Genechten. I will be reading this with my son during bedtime for many nights to come. The illustrations and story are very sweet and my son likes to point out the animals by name.
This is a perfect book to read to my kids before they fall asleep. The illustrations captured my kid’s attention and the story kept them engaged. This book is sure to make it into your bedtime routine for many wonderful night’s orb bedtime stories.
A sweet and colourful story of different bedtime routines. We are all different and have different habits and needs. Somebody needs to stretch, another person needs to play quietly or read. Most of us want a kiss and a hug. And we all need to be loved and accepted just the way we are.
A wonderful bedtime book for 2-3 year olds.

Bedtime is a board book for young readers 24 months upward by Flemish author and illustrator, Guido van Genechten. Victor and his friends are getting ready for bed. Owl calls time; crab wants to stretch his claws; penguin has noticed snow falling that needs playing in; little turtle needs to use the potty; bee zzzing (already asleep?); goldfish wants to swim one more lap; ladybug is turning excited cartwheels; the mice call for quiet; and Victor still needs a story, hugs, kisses and a drink of water. What might our reader need to get ready for bed? Cute, colourful illustrations enhance this catalogue of bedtime routines.

Itvwas a quick read and the story was simple enough. It give us an idea on what animals would do if they are going to bed.
I guess I was expecting more from this. Yes, kids have bedtime routines (and so do adults) but I doubt most of them involve intense physical activity. How are you supposed to get kids to sleep if you've just had them getting all worked up? The animals in this book engage in stretching, playing in the snow, swimming laps, and doing cartwheels before going to sleep. Maybe they're supposed to represent what the child wants to do before bed. (Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.) The only reasonable bedtime routine comes from Little Turtle, who needs to use the potty. Bee's bedtime routine consists of buzzing (I don't get it), and the mice seem to only be there to tell everyone to be quiet.
The pictures are okay, but nothing special. The story could've been a lot better.
This one was a bit of a disappointment.

This was a short, fun storybook illustrating the bedtime routine of several colorful animals. Each one not quite ready for bed. Perfect for toddlers.
Second cute one I’ve seen today. Really nice. Look forward to getting the physical copy when it’s out. Review to be up soon on the blog.
