Isabel has such a strong personality and her love for being Irish is really seen. I like how protective she is with her mother and relinquishing her Father's legacy.

Alasdair is a cute guy that one can easily fall in love. He might not want to live to Ireland but there are a lot of his childhood memories that comeback to him and makes him realize what he really wants in his life.

I'll be waiting for the second book in this series!

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Publishing for the ARC!

I tried reading this book about four different times and struggled with it. I guess you could say that author, Melonie Johnson and her Sometimes in Love series has spoiled me on Scottish men including British ones. Plus, she brings the humor with those books.

So I was looking to expect this type of thing with this book. I could see potential with this book but I just struggled to find the connection with the characters. However, there was humor. I was saddened a bit by this book as I did have high hopes for it. If I had been able to find that emotional connection with the characters, I could see myself actually liking this book.

Who needs Jamie Fraser when you have sexy, charming and charismatic Alasdair Blackmoor, the hero of Laura Trentham’s fabulous new novel, A Highlander Walks into a Bar. Funny, heart-warming and irresistible, Laura Trentham hits it out of the park yet again with her latest book.

Isabel Buchanan is not someone who is usually lost for words. Funny, fiery and somebody who gives as good as she gets, Isabel is used to surprises, but even she is stunned when her mother returns from a holiday to Scotland with a rather unusual souvenir of her trip: a strapping Highlander her mother is completely infatuated with and crazy about. As her mother begins to behave like a lovestruck teenager with an embarrassing crush, Isabel finds herself having to organize the Highland games all by herself. However, help is soon at hand after her mother’s boyfriend has a visitor: his drop dead gorgeous nephew who soon knocks the wind out of Isabel’s sails!

Alasdair Blackmoor is absolutely stunned by the Georgia town he finds himself in. He is immediately charmed by all the lovely people he comes across and is welcome with open arms by all its inhabitants, but the one person who takes his breath away and knocks him for six is Izzy Buchanan, who soon begins to occupy all of his thoughts and dreams. Izzy is independent, feisty and absolutely beautiful and organizing the Highland games with her soon becomes of paramount importance to Alasdair.

Thrown together by fate and united by an irresistible passion, Alasdair and Izzy begin to fall madly in love with another. But when the games are over, what is going to happen to their fledgling relationship? Will they realize that they cannot even bear to contemplate spending the rest of their lives together? Or will they realize that the only way they can ever be happy is if they spend the rest of their lives by each other’s side?

Laura Trentham writes the most delightful contemporary romances and she is on top form with her latest novel, A Highlander Walks Into a Bar. Sparks fly between a fiery Southern belle and a brooding Highlander and readers are not going to want to put down this feel-good, uplifting and brilliantly emotional contemporary romance.

A first rate romance that is simply outstanding, A Highlander Walks into a Bar is another winner by Laura Trentham.

When Isabel's mom comes home from a trip to Scotland with more than just an extra suitcase, Isabel never suspects that it will lead to love. Who wouldn't be a little suspicious if a stranger showed up from out of no where, but Alasdair Blackmoor is too tempting to resist for Isabel.

This review is not going to be long. I am not a huge fan of a review rehashing the entire plot and spoiling it for everyone.

This is the first book by Laura Trentham that I have read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Her style of writing. keeps you interested and waiting for more. I cannot wait to read more of her books.

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

I had a difficult time finishing this book. I could not connect with the main character Isabelle. I thought she came across as immature and kind of boring. I liked her mother and Gareth. They had a great banter and seemed like a fun couple. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.

What’s better than a sexy Scotsman in a kilt? TWO sexy Scotsmen in kilts!

This book has lots of laughs and lots of heart. I love how Ms. Trentham humanizes her characters, making them real and relatable. Izzy and Alasdair are complete opposites with the most explosive chemistry, which they fight hard to ignore. A southern belle and a posh Scotsman, both strong personalities and stubborn as all get out! They were a fun couple to read!

The secondary couple, Izzy’s mom and Alasdair’s uncle are so freakin’ cute together, and oblivious to the problems and obligations around them. Which leaves Izzy picking up the slack planning the Highland Games. Good thing Alasdair is there to help, in between trying to get his uncle to go back home to Scotland, dodging his mother’s phone calls and keeping several big secrets with even bigger repercussions.

The secondary characters are vital to the story. Since Highland, Georgia is a small town, everyone knows everyone else’s business and the gossip mill is always running! Which made for some great comedy and an audience to witness all of Izzy’s and Alasdair’s hijinks. Well, maybe not ALL of them 😉

I really enjoyed the story and I’m looking forward to the next book!

A Highlander Walks into a Bar is a delightfully fun read. The characters were likable and the setting of a small Georgia town was endearing. I could easily see reading sequels that focus on other occupants of the town. I was very happy with the HEA ending!

I loved the chemistry between Izzy and Alasdair. The story was one I couldn't put down because I was so invested in both their relationship and her mom's. Plus, the town sounds so beautiful and is a place I would love to visit. Can't wait for the next in the series

I chose to read this book, because it happens in Georgia. I was immediately able to identify with Isabel Buchanan, as I also dread driving on the Atlanta interstate roads and get heart palpitations when I have to drive to the airport. And then we bonded with our pet peeve of the dearth of pockets in women's clothing. Izzy goes to pick her Mom, Rose, up at the airport from her vacation in Scotland and was greeted with a surprise souvenir, 6 ft, 200 pound Gareth Connors, who is infatuated with Rose and has come back with her to Highland to help them with the annual highland games that they host every July. Highland had been founded by immigrant Scots and her great grandfather had build Stonehaven. Izzy is suspicious of this Scottish "groundskeeper" and becomes even more so, when his nephew, Alasdair Blachmoor shows up, but claiming to be an old acquaintance. The Scots are charming men, but hiding a secret, but Izzy and her mother, aren't exactly honest with each other about their feelings and ambitions. Secrets always come out at the worst possible time.

This is a very enjoyable read with endearing characters, a charming setting and snappy , easy banter. It ends with a HEA and a tease for the next book, which I eagerly await.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Izzy and Alasdair gave me a fun, smart, sexy romance! Izzy is our sweet, sassy southern belle and has discovered that her mom has brought home a Scot .She soon discovers he is not just any Scot but a nobleman . She begins to question his intentions and Izzy returns to the place they met only to find Alasdair the nephew. Alasdair only wants to protect his family so when Izzy comes looking for answers he is right their to defend his family . We soon realize that Izzy and Alasdair are doing everything in their power to protect their elders only to finally realize what is right in front of them !!! ! This couple will give you all the romantic feels and take you on a crazy jouney along the way!!!

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is the first book in the Highland, Georgia series. In this book, Izzy is worried when her mom comes home from a trip with a new boyfriend, Garett. She is worried that he is trying to take their home away form them. Little does she know that he also has a secret. Then his nephew, Alasdair, comes to town, to make sure that Gareth is safe and that everything that he left behind is safe. Sparks fly between Alasdair and Izzy as they try to make sure their family and their land is safe. Will their let their hearts or their minds rule? This is a great book, with a bit of heat and lots of fun, definitely not one to be missed!

A fun, sexy romance that will be in every beach bag this summer. I look forward to reading more from this author.

This one was a tough one for me. I was really intrigued by the blurb of this book and REALLY wanted to love it but it just fell a little flat for me.

Izzy was a bit offputting for me. I really had a hard time connecting to her in any way. She just seemed annoyed by everything. Alasdair, you immediately fall for the guy. I mean he's Scottish and debonair. HELLO. But there just lacked something between him and Izzy on my end and so it just really wasn't the greatest read. I just had a hard time connecting and seeing Izzy and Alasdair as a real couple.

Southern Charm was a win for this book and the small town of Highland and it's residents definitely gave this book the push for me to get through the whole thing.

Not sure if I will read more from this author. Her voice just wasn't one that I connected to.

Izzy's mom arrived home from a trip to Scotland with a surprise - a real live Scottish highlander. Right before the annual Highland, Georgia, Highland Games and Festival. Shortly thereafter, another Scottish highlander arrives in Highland looking for her mother's surprise. What follows is a fun, endearing, slow-burn romantic comedy. By the end of the magical story, the stage is set for the next book in the series and I can't wait to read it!

Highland, Georgia #1, This book was so enjoyable! All the characters not just the main ones were memorable; I'm glad this is the start of a series I already can't wait to read everyone else's story. I love reading Laura Trentham she has a great narrative voice and is so funny, her romance slow burning building the sexual tension between them until they are combustible and with a heartfelt and sweet ending that leaves me wanting more. I fell in love with Highland, Georgia it sounds like a wonderful place to live; except the humidity would probably kill me in the summer.

Rose and Isabel Buchanan love their hometown. Rose married into one of the founding families and after her husband died she kept his spirit and his love for the town alive by continuing on with his favorite time of the year, the Highland Games. Izzy loves this place just as much as her mother and she has fully accepted that her life will always be in Highland. Izzy usually trusts her mother's judgement so it blindsides her when Rose comes back from her Scotland trip with more than just a scarf and earrings as souvenirs. The man her mother brought home to help organize the games could be after their land or money, but her mother is infatuated it's up to Izzy to keep things in check.

Alasdair Blackmoor use to be close to his uncle, Gareth, but that was before his father died and the truth came out. Alasdair hasn't seen his uncle since he was eighteen so when his mother calls him and tells him he needs to go to America to bring home his uncle before the American woman swindles away his inheritance he goes to appease his mother. He never expected to find a home away from home, his uncle the happiest he's ever seen, and the feisty and beautiful Isabel. Everything smooths out for the most part Rose has Gareth and Alasdair has Izzy and they are happy and the preparations for the games are going well but Gareth and Alasdair are hiding something from the girls; a big secret that can ruin both their relationships.

Overall, such a joy to read. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love and with the epilogue teasing the next character's book I'm excited and can't wait for it.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me chance to read and review this delightful book.
Isabel meets her mom at the Atlanta Airport and to say she is surprised is an understatement. Instead of the usual souvenirs, her mom has brought home a real live Scotsman from her trip to Scotland. Gareth is about the same age as her mom and seems to be a real charmer.
The three head to Highland, Georgia where her mom still lives in the family home. Isabel, better known as Izzy has taken time off from her regular job to come home and help with the annual Highland Games and Festival. This traditional event brings tourist with money to the area and helps keep the town and Izzy's home going.
Things get even stranger when a very handsome younger Scot named Alasdair shows up and claims to be a close friend of Gareth's. The reader finds out that Gareth is really Alasdair's uncle and that Gareth is not a groundskeeper on a Scottish estate, but an earl and the owner.
Alasdair is supposed to go back home, but stays to help with the games. He tries to help Izzy and her mom without their knowledge.
Who doesn't know a Scot with a kilt and charming brogue? Author Laura Trentham has created a swoon worthy hero in Alasdair, but also shows his innate goodness. Izzy may be called "dizzy", but she is loyal and sweet. All the characters are well developed and add charm and humor.
The author's vivid descriptions of Highland, Georgia made me feel as though I was right there. The Scottish estate of Cairndow makes me long for a vacation to Scotland, which is on my "bucket list"
I highly recommend reading A HIGHLANDER WALKS INTO A BAR. It will lift your spirits while entertaining you.

This is one of the funniest books I've read and Laura Trentham sure knows how to tickle that funny bone.

Sparks fly as highlander Alasdair and Isabel try to deny .their attraction to each other. Instead of saving his Uncle and her mother from their intended future, Alasdair and Isabel end up in each other's personal space as they plan the Highland Games, and a perfect opportunity to fall in love

A definite sweet read!

A Highlander Walks Into a Bar, a Highlands, Georgia novel written by Laura Trentham, is the perfect mixture of romance and humor...with even a smidgen of intrigue for added depth...to carry the reader from beginning to end in a thoroughly satisfyingly rapid pace. In the characters of Alister and Isabel you’ll find yourself loosing your heart to them while you follow them on their HEA journey.

The story is written with an intelligence that is readily visible in its whip smart dialog, wry and witty humor, and most of all, with a plot that is easy to immerse yourself in, finding visions of kilts and scrumptious Scotsmen easily conjured through an author’s vivid writing. I definitely have the next installment of this wonderfully entertaining series on my radar.
