A Twist in the Tail by Leighann Dobbs is the first in a new series ( The Oyster Cove Guesthouse series), focussing on a divorced mother of one, Josie Waters, who has returned to her quaint seaside hometown of Oyster Cove, Maine to take over a Bed and Breakfast that is currently undergoing renovation.
Two mysteries that are entwined are the main subject plots in addition to the introduction, and beginning backstories of the additional characters (her Mom, Minnie-the previous owner of the historic landmark house, Mike, Stella, Jenn, and her crime-fighting duo of cats- Marlowe and Nero.
I enjoyed the overall plot, and was not able to guess the perpetrator until the end, and enjoyed learning about the characters. All were like-able and relate-able, and I look forward to learning more about them in the upcoming books in this series.
I also enjoyed the chapters that were in the voices of the two cats. Definitely made me chuckle several times. Anyone that has a cat can relate.
Overall a great read. 5/5 stars

This book is fantastic. Did I mention that Nero and Marlowe are talking cats that help solve the mystery along with their "gang" down by the water? The characters that the author has created are realistic, fun and relateable.
