There is something about All her secrets by Sue Watson. Where it felt a bit predictable at times, the ending proves you otherwise. It is well written, builds characters well and the story grips you. Watson did an excellent job in building suspense, giving you just enough thrill time and time again to want to move forward and forward. Stick with it to the end, it is worth it!
Very enjoyable read. I found this book very interesting, and loved the different dynamics at play. Wouldn't you do anything to help a friend?
I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review. The book is a psychological thriller and the reader will find many characters to dislike for different reasons (and rightly so). I assumed I knew who the stalker was from the beginning but after a bit I started doubting every person... which makes this book interesting.
However, I had quite a number of mixed feelings about the story. The plot seemed too slow at times, and also a bit repetitive. The start and ending are quite good though which make up for its low points.
A very easy to get into novel which is testament to the author's writing skill. I love novels that I can dive right into without pages of scene setting and this one delivers a punch! Defintely worthy of 5 stars.
This book had me hooked from the start. Lucy and Matt are happily married, when a celebrity named Amber moves in next door, Lucy friends her immediately.
Few chapters, but a story of stalking, infertility, all the twists in each chapter.
Lucy tries to be a great friend. By inviting Amber to stay over since she don’t feel safe at her own home. She’s been having some crazy texts come to her.
This is a very intriguing book, you need to get your hands on this one.
I could not put this book down! From the first page I was hooked. Troubled childhoods, new romance, three is crowd in this story! A thrilling tale of friendship and betrayal.
Another true psychological thriller by Sue Watson! I have read several of her books and have never been disappointed.
The story is about the friendship between two women who have never had a true friendship before they meet as neighbors. This becomes a relationship where one is the giver and the other the taker until too much has been given and too much taken.
The book is well written and fast paced and keeps your interest throughout. The ending did come as a total surprise to me as I kept switching between the two women.
I will definitely recommend this book and happily give it five stars. The only bad thing I can say is that I hated it to finish; I had such a great time reading!
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture and especially Sue Watson for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
An author that keeps on giving. Drags you in from page one with a who can you really trust theme running through the book. The sense of trepidation begins to build especially due to the chapters from the pov of an unknown narrator. The book is one of those where it can be hard to warm to the characters but often this is intentional and I think this would be the case here. Solid ending which always makes a book worth recommending.
Sue Watson has done it again! 5 shiny stars for this fantastic, twisty thriller. Since reading her last thriller I have been anxiously awaiting her next one and let me tell you, it is sooooo good! I jumped at the chance to be on this Books-On- Tour!
Come with me to Mulberry Ave where the most exciting thing to happen is book club and the neighborhood BBQ. That is until Amber, the one time celebrity who was climbing her way to the top and is now the local weather girl moves in to number 13.
I found it a bit amusing at first as Lucy seemed star struck with her new neighbor Amber. Lucy was a bit entertaining as she snooped around and spied on Amber, wanting to know her every move. My amusement turned to concern as she quickly seemed obsessed with her new neighbor. As a friendship is forged it appeared to be rather one sided. Amber was totally self absorbed and seemed to take complete advantage of poor Lucy, but was Lucy as innocent as she appears?
As Amber's celebrity status becomes known throughout the neighborhood, she suddenly obtains a stalker. I must admit I found myself questioning if this stalker was the real deal or did Amber just enjoy the attention. Would Amber fake a stalker?
What a twisted, single white female vibe this had! As things spiral out of control I was not sure who to believe. Without spoiling anything for you I will just recap what to expect...ONE HELL OF AN ENDING!!!! This is a story of secrets and obsession that will have you questioning everyone's motives. Be careful who you let into your life, you never know how it will end.
Lucy has a lovely husband, a job she adores as a teacher, and a house on Mulberry Avenue that she’s decorated just the way she wants – from the floaty curtains and the softest bed linen, right down to the perfectly-chosen velvet cushions on their comfortable sofa. Life isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty close.
She’s also got, Amber. Her newest friend and neighbor. They’ve got so much in common. Even if Amber’s life sometimes seems a lot more glamorous and exciting, she shares Lucy’s down-to-earth sense of humor, and Amber seems so interested in Lucy and her life, it’s like they never run out of things to talk about.
But then Amber starts acting strangely, claiming her life isn’t all it seems, talking about how she thinks she might be pregnant and confiding in Lucy that she’s started getting threatening messages.
She’s scared, and the only person she can turn to is Lucy. She wants to stay at Lucy’s house until things calm down.
Lucy wants to protect her friend. But can she really trust Amber? Because sometimes other people are not all that they seem. Sometimes they have secrets. And they’d do anything to keep them…
when celebrity weather forecaster Amber moves into the biggest and fanciest house in the neighborhood, dowdy school teacher Lucy latches onto her trying to be her best friend. When Amber gets some "stalker" type texts, she ends up moving in with Lucy and her husband Matt. .
I had the book figured out (I thought). Wow, a very good read.
All Her Secrets is a clever and well-paced psychological thriller that has engaging characters, a brilliant build up of tension and lots of twists and turns that kept me on my toes and guessing until the end!
This book is about woman, friendship and deception. How well do we really know anyone? Well developed and characters. The storyline kept me engaged from the first page. The ending of this novel was unanticipated, which only increased my appreciation. Thanks.
Every woman needs a best friend. But how much do you really know that person who shares so much of her life with you. There are the girls' nights and the coffee chats and the going out for a drink. But there are also secrets kept from one another. Sometimes those secrets explode out into the open. And you're no longer friends at all.
Three was definitely a crowd in this book! It was filled with troubled childhoods and jealousy which went on to affect all of the characters in their adult lives. The friendship between Lucy and Amber was an unbreakable bond that nothing seems to be able to tear apart even though it is pushed to its limits and beyond. Unfortunately I found it quite predictable and guessed the outcome by chapter 3, it’s a shame as the plot had a lot of potential it just lost its way for me.
Excerpt: 'Beautiful Amber, I can see you flirting with those other men. If you hurt me, I will hurt you. Are you scared? I like it when you're scared. It excites me."
That's the first text message that Amber receives, from her stalker.
The message that begins the chain of events that will cause Lucy, to invite her new friend, Amber-the local weather girl and a minor celebrity-to move into the home she shares with her husband Matt-so that she can feel "safe".
As the threats escalate, and the house starts to feel a bit 'crowded" you have to wonder....
WHO IS PLAYING WHO?
Told primarily from Lucy's point of view, with a few chapters from an unnamed narrator, interspersed throughout, the book felt a bit repetitive, in the middle, and had a few "fast forward several months" jumps in time, to move the story ahead, making the story lag in parts for me. and feel rushed in others.
Although, personally, I enjoyed her first thriller, "Our Little Lies" more, this could appeal to readers who enjoy trying to guess if the narrator is reliable or not, and to those who enjoy trying to figure out who Amber's stalker could be. Not a bad thriller, but not a standout for me, either.
I do like how the wonderful cover art for both books, coordinate....alluding to the idea that one never knows what is going on inside the homes of your neighbors.....
I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture, and Sue Watson for the digital ARC I received in exchange for a candid review. This title will be available on May 23, 2019!
3.5 out of 5 for All Her Secrets.
How well do you know your friends? How about your best friend? Do you know their secrets and do they know yours? A look at how closeness and toxicity can blur lines.
Overall really enjoyable, I love a book with annoying hatable characters and would be a clear 5/5 if the antagonist wasn’t so predictable.
What can I begin to say about this book except it has left me speechless !! I loved every page and after waking up early on a Saturday to finish it I can truly say the ending was unbelievable. (Worth my sacrificed weekend lie in)
Lucy and her husband Matt have a seemingly happy life and marriage. The icing on the cake would be the addition of a child which seems to be the one thing causing problems between them .
Amber, a glamorous tv personality becomes their next door neighbour bringing glamour and glitz to the neighbourhood.. The friendship that develops between the Lucy and Amber, brings happiness and excitement into their lives but like a sitting time bomb it is not too long until it explodes with mind blowing consequences.
I loved the mysterious narrative throughout the book which had me guessing who it belonged too, I I thought I had the characters and plot sussed on numerous occasions only to find out I was totally wrong! One sign of a fantastic addictive story to me personally is mystery and complex believable characters and this book has these in abundance!,
I loved how Sue writes and after reading her last book I was excited to read her latest novel which for me was another page turner. I can’t recommend it highly enough!, Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this brilliant addictive read .
WOW!!!!!!!! This story was unpredictable and full of suspense that keeps you guessing and trying to figure everyone out. Lucy an ordinary wife meets a celebrity weather girl and falls into an unhealthy obsession with her new friend. Amber, our celebrity weather girl, is shown to be a selfish, manipulative woman who does anything to get what she wants. She has a "stalker " and her best friend Lucy invites her to stay with her and her husband until the stalker thing is over with which turns out to be the worst thing for all of them. Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for my honest review.
This was a gripping psychological thriller with a surprising conclusion.
Lucy and her husband are a very happily married couple who live in a lovely neighbourhood. Amber a minor celebrity arrives as their new neighbour and soon becomes Lucy’s best friend.
Strange things begin happening in Amber’s life and Lucy goes all out to protect her friend.
Things are not always what they seem and soon life changes for everyone.
I enjoyed this read, thank you to Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
All Her Secrets by Sue Watson is a psychological thriller that will keep you guessing (at least for a while).
Lucy and Matt seem to have the perfect relationship, except they can’t have children. Then Lucy meets Amber, a vivacious woman and they instantly become best friends. When Amber begins receiving messages and gifts from a stalker, she moves in with Lucy and Matt to make her feel safe. But all is not what it seems.
A little less than halfway through this book, I had it figured out. I couldn’t have guessed the ending which was quite a nice surprise, but the rest of the story came easily. While I don’t necessarily mind this, I just felt that it was a little lackluster.
This book has a solid three stars, and if you’re looking for a quick read and want something a little on the dark side, this is the book for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC! Publish date is set for May 23, 2019!
