Unsuitable is a good fit for readers looking for a steamy romance between an older woman and a younger man, with a focus on the power dynamics and societal perceptions of their relationship.

Unsuitable by Lavinia Kent is an Erotic Page Turner. It's Page Tuning, satisfying, unputdownable read. Lavinia Kent is a new author and I Quite Enjoyed the Story.

I Recommend all Readers to read this book now.

UNSUITABLE - Lavinia Kent

SEXY - 3 stars

#1 in the Forbidden Cove series

Plot - 4 stars - Jordan's much-older husband has just died, and she's feeling lonely and sad and isolated. Most people thought she married him for his money, but it was a love match. Now she finds herself irresistibly attracted to Clay, a younger man.

Writing - 3 stars - Kent creates great characters and interesting scenarios that draw me in. However, it took a while for me to become involved in this story. The sex scenes were great, but I'll admit that I find her historical erotica much more exciting.

Characters - 3 stars - Jordan is the much-maligned "gold-digger" who now finds herself in the opposite situation, in which she is attracted to a younger man. She is a too self-deprecating for my taste. She rightfully dislikes being the brunt of people's jealousy, but she obsesses about it and goes overboard to keep her relationship a secret. I get that she grew up with little and was originally out of her comfort zone in the world of the wealthy, but she still, years later, needs a lot of reassurances about her worth. It was exhausting to see her insecurities. Clay is an alpha male--strong and determined and driven. Nice to read about, but I don't think I'd be attracted to him in real life. A little too much.

Title - 4 stars - I like the title--both of her lovers/husbands are not standard accepted relationship material. And the title also sets us squarely in the highly-cultured world of gowns and suits.

Cover - 4 stars - Not a flashy background color, but the large bold letters catch the eye.

Overall - 3 stars - I liked Kent's first attempt at a contemporary erotica novel, but I didn't love it. The sex scenes were well written, but the story was too dependent on them and didn't offer enough other action to keep things moving. Jordan's paranoia about the age difference between her and Clay was somewhat justified, especially in the rarefied world they live in, but she went overboard and it got old. The setting was wonderful, and I loved sharing her beach house on the ocean. I equally enjoyed hearing about the charity events and other fund-raising activities they were both involved with. I will definitely read more in this series and will continue to enjoy this author.

Once I began reading Unsuitable I was done for. This Forbidden romance was everything I could want. An all consuming passion between two characters that were made for one another.

When Jordan Robinson married a wealthy, much older man, his rich contemporaries labeled her a gold-digger. Their snide whispers continued, even after his death. So, with plenty of unflattering publicity already flying around, the last thing Jordan needs now is a much younger man pursuing her. But not just any younger man, this is Clay Windsor, the guy who used to date Jordan’s daughter back in high school.
Clay has been crushing on Jordan since he was seventeen. Nothing could have come of it then, the horny kid infatuated with his girlfriend’s mom. But he’d never forgotten Jordan. And now, ten years later when their paths cross again at a charity fundraiser, old feelings come roaring back, stronger than ever.
A relationship now would be complicated for them both, given Jordan’s already battered image. Tabloids and trolls would feast on this, the gold-digger philanthropist turns cougar, chasing her own daughter’s prom date. While Colin would like nothing more than to be seen publicly with Jordan, she has her charity to protect. She can’t risk more bad publicity with attacks on her character, but they can’t hide in the shadows forever. Where’s the happily ever after in that?
Kent’s new Forbidden Cove series is off to a great start with Unsuitable. The court of public opinion plays a major role in this story, where Jordan is at a crossroads between protecting her reputation or following her heart. For Colin, it’s a no-brainer. Engaging story with lots of conflict and loads of heat.

I liked that there was little beating around the proverbial bush. It's clear Jordan and Clay are hot for each other so let the hot action begin. Her insecurities get tiresome but how she handles them just reveals the complex human she is. Also, their easy banter and straightforward communication makes their story relatable (money bags and beach homes notwithstanding). I liked this book and would like to read more in this series. Thank you for this copy, this is my honest opinion.

I felt no chemistry between the two leads. She's somewhat been in hiding since her husband's passing, not wanting others to talk about her or create gossip, but she's all for being publicly intimate where she can get caught? This was a little to difficult to read all the way without continuously stopping due to boredom.

4-5 stars. A very hot, steamy romance that was a nice break between my thrillers! I loved that a younger man was seeking the older woman, because I think it should be considered just as normal as a younger woman and older man! This was my first by this author, but will definitely be looking for book 2 in this amazing, sexy series!
Will let the members of Chapter Chatter Pub know about it!

What's not to love about a Lavinia Kent book and this one was no exception. Clay wanted Jordan since he saw her when he was a teen. Now that he's a success and he found her he has no intention of letting her go. The older woman/younger man story was great. It was quite steamy but then again this is why I read all her books.

This is Clay and Jordan’s book, Jordan knows firsthand that when a woman marries a rich older man people are going to talk. But now that her husband is gone, Jordan lives of quiet life, she stays away from the limelight managing her charities and is living a life of seclusion. Then everything changes after an unexpected kiss leads to the best sex of her life, and a secret affair that she never wants it to end! Clay is a young sexy mogul who is used to getting what he wants, and he has wanted Jordan Robinson ever since he was 17 and saw her emerge dripping wet from a swimming pool in a white bikini! But now he’s all grown up and he’s determined to win her heart and her body! But when their relationship is exposed the fallout is devastating! But Jordan is worth fighting for ! Their relationship may have started as a fling but he will have Jordan in his bed in his life and definitely forever in his heart! This book was an OK read something didn’t connect with me I’m not sure what it was it just wasn’t my top favorite it’s worth reading but not my favorite. Thank you Netgalley And the publishers for sharing this book with me!

The book opens with Jordan Robinson who is now a widow and in her late thirties, at a function with people she has not seen since her husband’s death. A woman who was much younger than her husband he left well off but she is not looking for anyone. Her friend told her she needed to get out of the house. Here she runs into Clay. The younger man who she is attracted to and likes that he is flirting with her but she is not wanting to take it any further. Her mind and body cannot get this man out of her and so weeks later when she is in the city and they happen to be in the same building, they respond to each other and end up in a 5-star hotel. The next morning wanting leave she is looking at the young man and realizes that she actually remembers him from ten years ago. Coming to their house swimming with her stepdaughter and taking her to the prom. Panicking she tries to leave without making a sound only to fail. He is unable to stop her. He is later able to talk to her and tell her the way he feels about her and has been feeling about her for a long time. It is up to her to allow herself to be with him or not. I found this book to be very good with a few twists. Like with the stepdaughter, and the conflict that Jordan has wondered if she should be happy after taking care of her husband, all things people go through. Yes, there are sex scenes but they go with the story. Overall a very good book.

I have read books by Lavinia Kent before, and I have enjoyed them. So, when I saw that Unsuitable was available for review on NetGalley, I decided to request it. The blurb had caught my attention. A cougar romance? I’ll read it. To say I was disappointed was an understatement.

Unsuitable’s plot was almost non-existent. But it had promise. If the plot had been built up more than I would have liked the book more.

I did like the main characters. They started as one dimensional and did flesh out. But, they still felt flat and I had a hard time connecting with them.

The characters had insane chemistry and sexual tension. The sex scene were hot. Loved it. I also loved that Jordan was a cougar who was coming into her own in this book. She was rediscovering her sexuality after her husband had passed. Clay was on fire has someone who was going to have her no matter what.

The end of the book was confusing. I couldn’t tell if they ended up together in a relationship or if they were going to continue having a sex only relationship.

I absolutely love that the main female characters last name is Robinson!!!! Jordan is the older woman, and Clay is the younger man! This was a very steamy read as you know and love from Ms. Kent. A great escape from any doldrum day!

I really enjoyed this book. It is a different spin from the traditional romances. Younger man, older woman. I like that idea! This is my first time with this author and I will continue reading her books. She drew me in with her words and wrote some sexy scenes. I will anxiously await the next book in the series.

This is the first in a new series – and I am really hopeful that Veronica gets her chance... Jordan didn't give her a chance to explain herself!

I very much enjoyed Lavinia Kent's Bound and Determined series, so was fascinated to see how her skills translated to a present day romance. I was suitably impressed – without a doubt her skills of describing hot and steamy moments translate just fine!

Apart from the hot and steamy encounters between Jordan and Clay, which definitely bring Jordan back to life, I really enjoyed watching her grow to understand herself. We get the superficial information about her life early on, but as she realises how her feelings are progressing with Clay, she also reveals more about her life with Mark. Her best friend Veronica, and Mark's daughter, Amelia, help her to unpack some of her issues. For a woman who has lived a full life as a wife and step-mum, she has missed a number of growing up steps, which she can finally lay to rest.

Once Dolly arrived, I think we all knew that things would work out, and I have a feeling that Marta may have lost a gig!

Unsuitable by Lavinia Kent was a sexy and steamy older woman/younger man romance. Jordan Robinson married a man she loved, but he was older. She knew people would talk, but now that she is a widow, she leads a quiet life. Then Clay enters her life, and everything changes. She does not want any more gossip, but he makes her feels things she never did before. Can she let him in, or will she walk away? A hot and steamy story with lots of chemistry. I am excited to read more in this series.

Happy reading.
