I really wanted to like this book. I loved a non-traditional main character (non-traditional from most romance means anyone not super thin and tall). But there was something about it that made me not even want to finish it. The relationship between Henry and Rachel was just insane. Rachel was obviously not convinced of his position, but still went to see him?? Yeah, ok. And Cassy was terrible, and I screamed at Rachel anytime they interacted. It just wasn't for me I guess.
This is chick lit at its finest.
I loved Rachel, she is a person we can all aim to be one day. I especially loved the portion where she ground the nuts of the man who attacked her. She is insecure about her body but she is no mouse. She takes a stand and she puts people in their place.
The book was laugh out loud funny at a lot of places.
The H Henry was written well as well. He was a little weird in the beginning and the shit with Reagan was stupid. But once he realized he liked Rachel, his support was unwavering.
This was my first book by the author but definitely won't be my last
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley.
OMG! This is the cutest, funniest, and most engaging novel ever! You do have to get past some nasty language at times but do not let that stop you from reading the book. I laughed out loud at the antics of Henry and Rachel as he tries to find her somebody to love while posing (badly at times) as her psychologist (how he fell into this is a riot on its own.) I have so many highlighted sections to read to my husband. The scene in the pastry class is a classic!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I started to read the story, unfortunately I was not able to finish it. About 25% in I gave up. The writing felt sloppy, and the story actually quite shady. Definitely when so early she figures out the deception, but then still keeps going. It just didn't work for me.
A case of mistaken identity when Rachel first meets Henry. He isn't honest with her, but can he help her get what she wants?
An entertaining read, but I found it hard to like the chracter of Henry.
A fast paced witty book that hooks you from the start with its characters and their witty banter. Although, not my go to for the majority of my reading this light hearted romance had me turning page after page. If you are looking for a good read for the beach look no farther.
From what little I did read, this series was not what I was expecting seeing how I love the initial blurb. The dialogue was everywhere and the friendship between Rachel and Cassy was a hot mess. I could barely turn the page without cringing. Sadly this just wasn't for me.
What I liked about this novel was that we're following Rachel, who is a curvy woman on the shorter side. Thank you dear author for the diversity there.
Unfortunately there were a few things I didn't like about this book:
- Cassy as a character is just unbelievably awful
- the whole premise of Henry "playing" the relationship counselor and Rachel just playing along isn't believable either, she could've just asked for his certificate and the whole thing would be over.
- I also don't get why Henry is setting her up with all the guys instead of coming clean when he's clearly interested in her. I understand that this is the author's idea of a plot, but I get annoyed at situations that don't make sense.
- there are a few errors in the text as well. My favorite was: "all so" instead of also. Not sure if that is due to the ebook format.
Altogether I can only give this one 2 stars.
Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an eARC.
I am sorry but Somebody to Love was a mess.
At least to me.

Somebody to Love intrigued me at first and that was why I requested it from Netgalley. It has a pretty cover, nice plot, and I thought to myself, "Well, I think I will like it".
But.
I lost interest around 40% mark and could not bother to immerse to it until it ended.
So here are my lists of likes and dislikes from the book:
+ Cover was to die for, it was cute, looked fun although not chicklit-y
+ Yay for more chubby representation!
+ It had a cute theme for plot, for real. I was here for a misunderstanding and snarky protagonists, bring em on.
(It did not quite deliver tho)
- Those dialogue tags were hard to follow, I lost count on how many I had to return to see who is saying what.
- I longed for women friendship. Sure, women can be harsh, petty, unclassy (whatever that is), etc. insert any bad traits here. But boy do I wanted to read something empowering, on women supporting each other through Cassy-Rachel friendship. I liked the idea of Cassy being there for her, but the book brought the opposite. How could Rachel survived a bff like Cassy? How could Cassy survive being a bff to someone obnoxious like Rachel? Like???? A year or two or the entire high school/college, sure. If they were colleagues or roommates that weren't particularly close, okay. But wow. Both were truly unlikable to each other, so I guess they deserved it??
- The intimate consulting plot that Henry threw should made Rachel back the fuck off. I was happy when Cassy told Rachel about her doctor real name so Rachel was suspicious because it definitely was not Henry. But then, Henry told lies and lies and lies and private consulting... Girl, stop.

I like books with a good opening and an original 'meet-cute'.
Rachel walks into the office of what she thinks is a relationship therapist and starts talking to the man she encounters in the room, not realizing he is the building manager. Henry at first thinks it is a prank by his brother, but soon realizes Rachel thinks he is someone else. Somehow he offers to help Rachel with her relationship woes and finding a (fake) boyfriend for the wedding of her cousin Cassy. I liked both Rachel and Henry and wow, what a rotten family Rachel has. I really hated Cassy and could not fathom why Rachel would think they are or were best friends.
Overall the story is very well written and pulls you in. Loved big parts of it, especially when Rachel finally takes a stand for herself.
But.. I must admit I was put off by several things. I did not like the fact both H/h had descriptive sex with others after meeting each other (no, I don't want to read about it). Normally that would have been a DNF for me. Also, there was a bathroom scene that was - again - so descriptive - it was a bit too much for what the author wanted to convey. I could have done without, thank you.
So, very talented author but a storyline that did not grab me completely. I give it 3 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this hilarious book. This book had everything; humour, romance, steamy scenes and intrigue. The plot definitely wasn't predictable and it was hard to stop reading once you started. The main characters are instantly likeable and every scene with them together has you cheering them on.
There may be a few scenes which are a bit too 'in your face' for some, but it's still funny nonetheless. The 5 stars are due to the fact that this rom com is exactly what it claims to be, a romantic escape that makes you laugh out loud.
This is Rachel and Henry’s book Rachel‘s family was definitely kind of cruel to her she’s a little heavy but still beautiful in her own way she finally decides to find true love and she goes to her cousin/best friends psychiatrist unbeknownst to her the psychiatrist moved office while his office was being repaired and she gets the guy fixing the office just so happens to be Henry! Henry wonders who this crazy lady is coming in and spilling all her secrets to him he decides to go with it and fake being the psychiatrist LOL this sets upon a tale of the two of these people Going through trying to find Rachel true love. This book was so so funny I really enjoyed it it’s a little bit of like 15-year-old boy humor but if you’re in the mood for a hilarious hilarious book with some steam to it than this one’s for you! Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!
