This was a cute read. I love Christian Lauren and the way they write.
Fast read. Cute story.
A great beach read.
If your looking for a break read grab this one.
Let me start by saying I love CL! This writing duo always gets me with their stories and characters. Sadly, this one didn't really blow me away like several of their others. It was cute, it just felt a bit slow and dragged a bit in the middle. Overall, a fun ready, but definitely not a favorite.
Sadly this one was quite lack luster. I felt no connection to the characters and the plot was also quite boring.
Ummm.....normally Christina Lauren's work is really good. This....isn't? The plot was ok, but the characters, omg, the characters. Everyone treats Tate (the main character) badly-even the hero and her relatives and, well, everyone. Tate, in turn, does _nothing_. Seriously, this woman is the most passive Lauren heroine ever. It takes 98% of the book for her to actually do something in her own life and then they cut away before any of the "bad guys" get their comeuppance. Really unhappy about this one.
I've picked up this book several times and cannot bring myself to finish it. I don't like the main characters, I feel they don't have any chemistry together. Normally I love Christina Lauren novels, but this one is not it.
A second chance romance you won't forget! Christina Lauren is a writing duo that always gets my heart aflutter, but this book has to be my favorite of theirs so far. The characters are beautifully written and incredibly lovable, even when they're in the wrong. Such a compelling story that will have you rooting for a HEA with every page.
While I enjoyed this and it was definitely an easy book to binge read, it lacked the humor and witty banter that I’ve come to love & expect from Christina Lauren (I’m looking at you Josh & Hazel and The Unhoneymooners!) & I definitely missed it!
I enjoyed this second chance romance, but I was definitely hoping for more of a spark or steam. All in all, it was an ok read and a good love story, just not one that will stay with me the way Josh & Hazel or Olive & Ethan have.
I was very excited to get a copy of this book and even more excited to talk to Christina Lauren for a piece on writing fanfiction for The Young Folks.
Tate and Sams second chance at romance story is one that I absolutely loved! Simple plot of two teens meeting and falling in love while away on holiday with their respective grandparent who had a tremendous influence in their life. The story had all the feels of heartbreak to reconciliation and rebuilding of a first love’s fire that never extinguished. The story was predictable, but for me, did not change how much I loved the characters, and the raw emotions that they were able to evoke in the reader.
I must say that I am a sucker for a good A Room With a View reference, which started this story off on the right foot for me. A tale of young love gone awry with a wonderful second chance set up. This story made me want to spend more time with the characters and maybe even join the set.
DNF
I'm so upset with this book, and honestly with the more recent Christina Lauren books. I used to gravitate so much to Christina Lauren and their books, and could binge them pretty quickly. Recently I feel there's been a change in their writing style, and a change in the focus of their stories. I'm glad they're growing and reaching different audiences, but I'm sad that I'm not getting the same kind of story I expected from them in the past.
Honestly, I don't know why I even requested this book. The concept held little interest for me. I am not a huge fan of books about actors. However, I heard such great things about Christina Lauren romances that I wanted to give them another shot. I COULD NOT get through this and ended up DNFing. The insta-love was so cringy and I could not connect with any of the characters....That is also how I felt about The Unhoneymooners so it might just be the writing...I have one more of their books on my TBR and I haven't heard great things so I might just pass on this author in the future...
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
My friend read this book, and unfortunately I no longer want to read it. I just don't think it's a book I need to spend time on anymore, and I don't think my review would be positive. Christina Lauren's books also just don't really interest me anymore, I guess.
I am embarrassingly behind on Netgalley reviews and am trying to catch up on those I've already read. I actually ended up listening to this one on audiobook. Overall, I felt like it was okay. It had a lot of unbelievable moments and just wasn't as funny and compulsive as other books by these authors. It was a middle of the road read for me, unfortunately. Looking forward for more from them in the future!
I love, love, love Christina Lauren books and will buy everything they write. This might not be my favorite one by the dynamic duo, but I adored it. I really loved how they explored second chance romances and that might be because I completely believe soulmates and young love being true love, after all, it was love at first sight for me and my hubby and I was only 17 when we met and now it's 26 years later...
Anyway, Tate, 18, is the daughter of a famous Hollywood star when she meets Sam, 21, while in London. The two fall in love. But betrayal ends their relationship. Fourteen years later, Tate is a star and facing a crisis that puts her right in the path of the man who broke her heart so many years ago.
Lauren did a great job writing about the heartache of lost love and all the pain and pleasures that go along with falling in love. This is much different than their previous books, but it still had their signature style, wit, romance, and a fab cast of characters,
Thank you NetGallery and Gallery Books for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
This was not the best Christina Lauren book I've read. I really enjoy their titles, but their one-offs are rarely as good as their series. Their serious books are ky least favourite because the drama and fall out of it does not make sense. I just couldn't believe that the main character would actually get together with the love interest after what he did.
It's no secret that I'm a huge Christina Lauren fan, but my expectations were a bit lower for Twice in a Blue Moon as I saw a few disappointed (though not totally negative) reviews start rolling in. At the beginning, I thought I was going to love Twice in a Blue Moon, but in the end I feel like many others: I liked it but was also somewhat disappointed.
The reason I loved the start and felt disappointed by the rest comes down to one factor, which may not be the same as most other people's reason: it begins a retelling of A Room with a View but then that completely goes away? Everything about Tate's trip to London is such a clear reference to the Forster classic: Tate and a nervous, controlling chaperone swap rooms with a pair of kind but somewhat awkward gentlemen to get the room with a view they were promised. Even Sam's obsession with staring at the stars came from George's belief that "the only perfect view is the sky over our heads." Now, that may not mean much to most people but A Room with a View is my favorite film, and I was so stoked by how clever the retelling was done and surprised to find that it was one.
But then you fast forward to Tate as a Hollywood starlet unexpectedly reconnecting with Sam on the set of the movie he wrote, and there is nary a sign of A Room with a View from that point. It's disappointing because I feel like the retelling could have continued without any difficulty, and that's what I wanted, because I don't know why you'd only borrow for the intro. Also, I do feel like Sam in the flashbacks, when his character was clearly George-inspired, had more of a personality than the Sam of the main part of the novel.
The story that does happen is pretty good, though it's pretty much the same Hollywood tale you expect to get. That said, I thought the way that Sam's betrayal was handled was done in a more mature and less dramatastic way than usual, and I'm grateful that Tate didn't blame Sam for the leak at the end of the story. Also, Lauren didn't end the book in the exact same way they've ended every other book ((view spoiler)), though admittedly it's only a slight variation. But given how much they stick to that romance formula, I'm grateful even for a minor change.
Mostly, this book's burdened by Tate and Sam not being particularly exciting characters. I like them; they're nice enough, but lacking in an intense connection or fascinating personalities. They're not cardboard, but they're kinda beige people. Usually, Lauren write about fun friend or family groups, but little is done with Tate's friends or her familial relationships so it all rests on Tate and Sam, who are fine but not just not that exciting.
It's a solid three star book for me. I liked it, and I had a pleasant experience reading it, but it's also the blandest, most forgettable adult romance Lauren have written. If that sounds harsh, know that it's out of love of their work and knowledge of how much more vibrant all their other romances are. And it sets up a perfect A Room with a View retelling only to abandon it. *weeps forever*
I really struggled getting into this book. It just wasn't the type of romance book I have come to love from Christina Lauren. I still bought a hard copy because I love Christina Lauren but this one wasn't my cup of tea.
SO CHARMING. I don't even particularly like contemporary romance novels but I binged this one. Sweet and heartbreaking and then sweet again.
I’m typically a fan of Christina Lauren but this one was a miss for me. Had a hard time connecting with the characters.
