An enjoyable read with an intriguing premise of betrayal that came to a satisfactory conclusion. Although not my favorite from this author team, since I felt that both the romantic storyline and characterization were a little underdeveloped as compared to a few of their other books. This was a 3.5 star read for me.
I am a huge fan of Christina Lauren’s romance novels. They have never disappointed me, and Twice in a Blue Moon was no exception. While it was not my favorite of theirs, I still really enjoyed it and had tons of fun while reading it.
Highlights:
*Tate and Sam’s whirlwind romance lasts a short two weeks while they are on vacation in London. Even though this is such a short period of time, the story really captured how, when you are young and falling in love for the first time, two weeks can seem like an eternity. CLo really managed to capture what it is like to experience this overwhelming and intense emotion for the first time, and how first love never really fades.
*Sam was the first person to ever really know Tate and the first person to encourage her to go after her dreams. In such a short period of time, they manage to help each other figure out who they are and who they want to become as adults. Because of this, their intense connection is even more profound. After all, isn’t this what love is really all about?
*The connection to the love story between Luther & Robert/Ellen & Richard was beautifully done. Through the filming of the fictional movie, Milkweed, the reader not only gets to see Tate and Sam’s love story unfold, but also the love story of Sam’s Grandparents. This added a really heartwarming connection and wisdom about love that both Tate and Sam learn from.
Drawback:
The only drawback for me was that it ended rather abruptly. I really think that the book needs an epilogue where the authors sum up all of the loose threads. For example, what happened at Tates press release? How was the movie received? What did Tate and Sam end up doing with their fame? These were all things that I think most readers will also want answers to.
Thank you so much Gallery Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read this early edition in exchange for an honest review.
Twice in a Blue Moon is another grand slam for Christina Lauren. This second chance romance has a bit of a Hollywood twist perfect for movie lovers out there. Sam and Tate's love story is truly remarkable and their chemistry is palpable from the moment they meet to the moment they cross paths again years later. Twice in a Blue Moon is one of the best new romances of 2019.
As far as I am concerned, Christian Lauren can do no wrong. They write books I want to hug and can't put down and this one was no different. Tate is the daughter of a Hollywood icon but has lived in seclusion her whole life. On a trip to London, she meets Sam, falls in love and shares her big secret. Her life is turned upside down when he shares her secret with the world. She turns that devastation into her big break and uses it to fuel her rise to stardom as an actress. She never thought she would run into him again but she does. She hates him yet, does she? Can young love turn into a new love? Maybe a love like theirs can happen Twice in a Blue Moon.
Tate Jones is the reclusive daughter of a huge Hollywood icon. When she was 8 years old, Tate's mother took them away from the madness of Hollywood and moved back to the small town in California where she had grown up to raise her daughter. Away from the lens of the Hollywood Paparazzi, Tate was said to have disappeared. The name of Tate's father is a closely guarded secret known only by a handful of people.
For her high school graduation, Tate and her Grandmother head to London. While there, Tate finds her first love. Seduced by stars and the magic of love, she tells this young man closely guarded secrets.
When he in turn sells her story and her true name to the tabloids, Tate's life is forever turned upside down. Her first true love disappears into the mists of time, and Tate forges an image, identity, and brand out of the resulting chaos.
16 years later, Tate is handed the role of a lifetime. Talk of Oscar nominations are floating before filming even begins. Tate will be working with her father in this film, playing his onscreen daughter. As Tate is preparing for the first table read, she looks up to see the man who sold her story sitting at the far end of the table. He's the screenwriter for the movie. And Tate quickly discovers that she is not as "over him" as she had led herself to believe. Unresolved feelings abound as Tate struggles to maintain her composure.
They say a deep love like this only happens once in a blue moon. But if you're given a second chance, can it happen twice? Find out is this sweetly funny tale of love, loss, and quirky relationships.
Y’all, I don’t know why I’m surprised each and every time after reading a Christina Lauren book...but they got me again! This is a sweet second chance romance that just nestles into your heart and won’t let you go. The characters are vivid and likable, and I loved getting that little glimpse into set life/Hollywood. If you’re looking for a sweet contemporary romance, look no farther! Christina Lauren has struck again and their magic continues!
Twice in a Blue Moon is a contemporary second-chance romance by the writing team of Christina Lauren. Tate (the heroine) and Sam (the hero) meet while on a two-week vacation in London and form an intense, romantic connection. Tate tells Sam her secrets and gives him her heart; Sam betrays and abandons her, shattering her trust.
The two meet 14 years later and Tate finally asks why. This is where the characters and the story lost me as a reader. The authors spend almost 70% of the novel on the first-chance backstory, using first-person single POV to put the reader firmly on Tate’s side. After Sam’s brief explanation and his sorry-not-sorry “apology,” Tate readily discards 14 years of anger and resentment and suddenly… Sam is dreamy again? The quick emotional switch and Tate’s lack of internal conflict about it made me find her attraction to Sam questionable and his character irredeemable. (I DNF’d the book at 75%.)
The character of Tate is well-written and empathetic and her experience of falling in love entirely believable. Christina Lauren has worked wonders with unlikeable characters in books like Beautiful Bastard, but it didn’t work for me here. Perhaps if the characters met earlier (at 50%), there would be greater opportunity to show Tate’s internal conflict or more of Sam’s groveling in order to make this “second chance” more believable.
Tate and Sam meet while vacationing in London and it's almost love at first sight. They quickly grew close but their romance unfortunately doesn't last. Years later, on set for a new movie Tate is starring in, the screenwriter is none other than her old love Sam. Let's just say she is not happy to see him. It was a cute love story but not my favorite from Christina Lauren but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
This was my first Christina Lauren novel. After hearing so many rave reviews about their other titles, I thought I'd give this one a try. And, unfortunately, I was disappointed. It reads like a young adult novel. The main characters, Tate and Sam, are supposed to be 18 and 21 (in the beginning), but they are portrayed like 13 yr olds. And, the dialogue is dreadfully boring, no wit and humor. Also, I just didn't buy into the secret love child storyline.
I absolutely love a second chance romance!!! On top of that I absolutely love Christina Lauren’s books!! So to say this book was meant to be read by me is an understatement. I had very high expectations of this one after reading, The Honeymooners, and it lived up to every one.
I loved how it started out when Same and Tate originally meet, it really set the scene for the whole story. I completely fell in love with Sam and Tate, through all the ups and downs I couldn’t help but root for them. There was so much emotion behind each character I could literally feel the passion.
Here we have yet another Chrintina Lauren book I couldn’t help but love. I am so excited to be able to read so many before publication, and also have so many more to read before I found my love for them. This story contained everything, romance, scandal, family relationships, and everything else you could possibly think of. I can’t reccomend this one enough!
CLo strikes again! I loved this romance, it was definitely a slow burn with only 2 steamy scenes but the character development and story progression kept me intrigued! I love the way that this story came full circle
Can't believe I am going to actually say this but I am officially giving a Christina Lauren book 3 stars. I gobbled this book up in 2 days (typical of me for Christina Lauren books). I loved the first half of the book (when they were younger) because it was all about young love and it was swoon-worthy! However, the second half was really stale to me. I never felt connected to the characters and the story itself just felt rushed together. I still love Christina Lauren and will continue to read all their books!
Gifted authors Christina Lauren craft an emotional, heartfelt love story.
When eighteen year old Tate Jones goes on a two week vacation to London with her very strict grandmother, she never imagined that the unexpected intrusion of two Vermont farmers would be pivotal in her life.
During the day, Sam and his grandfather Luther join the women in their London expedition. During the night, Sam and Tate share their dreams and secrets under the blanket of the stars in their hotel’s garden. He tells her about his suspicion that his grandfather is dying. She shares a secret about her star studded heritage she’s never told anyone else before. They fall deep for one another, until he betrays her.
Tate embraced being the daughter of a world-renowned actor and almost a decade and a half later she’s become a star in her own right. But when Sam unexpectedly reappears in her life she must decide if she’ll willing to forgive him and give the love of her life a second chance.
I loved almost everything about this story. All the characters, main and secondary, are well developed. Yes, from the synopsis I knew there would be heartbreak because of a betrayal, but Sam is a romance hero, he has a good reason and character flaws are what make them relateable. The plot is hooking, the backdrop in London and later on back in the States is fabulously described giving the story an added layer of goodness. The story is well paced, the angst and accompanying second chance feelings were spot on, and then the book ends. Abruptly. It felt as though Tate and Sam’s story deserved a better resolution, the kind of feel good, fairytale happily ever after kind. Don’t misunderstand, the romance was lovely, the story was very enjoyable, and it did have a happy ending. It was just a regular kind of smile ending instead of an ear to ear smile.
Twice in a Blue Moon is a standalone second chance romance by Christina Lauren. It is a heartfelt romantic escape told from the heroine’s point of view, and has a happy ending. No cliffhanger.
I love Christina Lauren but this one is not my favorite.
Most of it was on a movie set and had a script dialogue.
I just didn’t connect with the characters or the plot.
I’m so bummed.

I will never pass up a Christina Lauren book, and Twice in a Blue Moon lives up to their previous titles.
What do you do if the love of your life betrays you? What about if the person who betrayed you comes back into your life years later? Sam and Tate fell for each other during a two week vacation in London when they were young. They shared everything - and then Sam betrayed Tate. Years later, she is a successful actress and starting to shoot the most anticipated movie of her career. When she runs into Sam on the set, she must confront her feelings about him.
This book was adorable! I have loved every Christina Lauren book I have read so far, and this one did not disappoint. It gave me a lot of the same feelings as Love and Other Words. The premise is intriguing, and I loved learning more about life on the set of a movie. My favorite part was reading about Tate and Sam falling in love originally and seeing how those feelings develop over years apart. I highly recommend this to fans of Christina Lauren and other contemporary romance!
Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery Books for the chance to early review! I will be posting a review on my book Instagram page, @the_infiniteTBR_list.
The novel was well written. The female character was likeable in the beginning and halfway through the book. But the hero was not very heroic. I didnt understand what she liked about him. For one, his physical attributes were not appealing but mainly his flaw was unforgiveable. Even when he explained his reasons, it wasn’t something I could find compelling. He lacked virtue. And the female protagonist seemed pathetic toward the end, just chasing after the guy even after he did what he did to her and didn’t really do anything noble to win her over and make up for what he did.
The sex scenes were unnecessarily extended, I skipped about 10 pages at a time. Eyeroll.
Twice in a Blue Moon is a sweet and swooning romance written by Christina Lauren and published by Gallery Books. This novel is set to be released on October 22, 2019. A few months ago, I read and reviewed The Unhoneymooners by the same authors, a steamy romance and a laugh-out-loud story that I highly recommend. So, it is only natural that I requested this book. I simply had to read Twice in a Blue Moon.
Twice in a Blue Moon will steal your heart. The story is about two teenagers, Tate Jones and Sam Brandis, who meet during a two-week vacation in London. They are immediately drawn to each other. They laugh, share unforgettable moments, and steal each other’s hearts. They both fall hard. Tate trusts Sam with everything, including her darkest, most well-kept secret. When Sam convinces Tate that they have to continue to see each other once they’re back in the States, Sam betrays Tate in a way that will break her and forever change her life.
A decade later, Tate is a famous actress landing a project that will set her career, but on her first day, she meets the one person she never thought she would ever see again, Sam Brandis. A man she is supposed to work with. Tate must push aside her own feelings to remain professional when her heart is still bruised by the betrayal.
This story took me by surprise. It was different from The Unhoneymooners in a good way. The story is raw and beautiful, with a swoony romance. My heart ached for the characters, and I devoured every single line. I read this book in one sitting, finishing the story at 2:00 am because I simply couldn’t put it down. The writing is beautiful and the characters relatable, and the story made me feel so much.
Christina Lauren is the pen name of two authors who I’ve grown to adore. I loved reading Roomies and The Unhoneymooners. I’m now set on reading every single other book they wrote. Thank you again, NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Christina Lauren for giving me the opportunity to read this book. This is hands down a five-star rating that I highly recommend

Oh my heart...
Christina Lauren has tugged on my heart strings from beautiful, heart eyed, intense first love to betrayal and utter devastation to small glimmers of hope and understanding. This story has it all.
Tate Jones is living her life in secret For her 18th birthday, her nana takes her to London. Here they meet Luther and his 21 year old grandson, Sam. Not only is Sam handsome but he makes Tate feel safe... adored. She gives everything to Sam: her virginity, her truth. They make plans for a future only for Luther and Sam to disappear. Tate feels heartbroken and matters only get worse when the media becomes aware that she is the long missing daughter of Actor/Icon Ian Butler and that she is in London.
Tate is thrown back into the limelight after 10 years hidden from the world, but now she is able to use this to her advantage; taking up acting and trying to have some sort of relationship with her father.
Now 32, she is cast in a movie that will propel her career into a different genre. Not only will she be acting alongside her father but on her way to her first table read she finds out that Sam is the one who wrote the movie (under a moniker). To say that Tate is surprised would be understatement. Her emotions range all over the page but stemming mostly from anger.
The underlying hurt and love simmer just below the surface. You can't help but root for these two and be slightly mad that they had let 14 years lapse.
I had to tell myself to slow down and really read the words and emotions. I can't help that Christina Lauren writes so epically beautiful that I want to read it all in one sitting. I actually started to get nervous and teary eyed about the ending. Will there be a second chance for these two?
Definitely one click this book. You will not be disappointed.

Tate and Sam had a whirlwind romance while on vacation in London. He was her first love, and then he not only broke her heart, but shattered her whole world. Fourteen years later, he is the last person she expects to see on the set of her new movie. She has to confront all of those feelings from long ago.
This novel kept me hooked from start to finish. It was sweet and told a beautiful narrative of second chances. You do not want to miss this novel.
This is easily my favorite Christina Lauren book. I have been a huge fan of Christina Lauren since the beginning. The writing is so vivid and I was in love with Sam from the very first moment we met him. Read in one sitting, I smiled, I laughed and my chest hurt all at once. Amazing!!
