A story full of secrets twists and unexpected wow moments! This thriller will keep you hanging on the edge of your seat until the very last page. I highly recommend.
A big thank you to netgalley for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Chloe had it all, or so she thought.. Her husband was seemingly devoted and madly in love with her and they were about to embark on their honeymoon to a once in a lifetime destination, except in Dans mind, it wasn’t a once in a lifetime destination at all.
All I can say it wow. ‘The Honeymoon’ is packed with twists, secrets and lies that will have you racing through the pages to find out what happens next! Another fantastic novel by Rona Halsall!
I was thrilled to be approved to read this as it sounded so Interesting. It’s written in an engaging style that draws you right in. I really enjoyed it, very twisty
When we first meet Chloe. Life couldn’t be better. She has met the man of her dreams and is setting off on her honeymoon to a fabulous destination. It isn’t long though before alarm bells started going off in my head, or in Chloe’s for that matter!
I really don’t want to say to much about the story as think it would spoil others enjoyment to do so. Dan is a character though who I just couldn’t work out. On the outside he seems a really caring and lovely guy who wants the best for Chloe, but like her, I was starting to have some serious doubts.
The story takes some unexpected turns as the tension mounts. I was guessing at all sorts as to why Dan is being the way he is. This is a story that really goes to show about how much you really know about the one you love.
The Honeymoon is an enthralling read packed full of secrets and lies. It’s one of those books that draws you straight in from picking it up and making it very hard to put back down again. Will certainly keep you on your toes and have you on the edge of you seat when things start to unravel. Another great read by the author.
My thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
I so enjoyed this book this author has become one of my favourite s each book gets better. Chloe picks the wrong partners then she meets Dan she does not get on with her brother and sister I so felt sorry for her she very protective of her nan she falls in love with Dan but all is not what she thinks not going to spoil it but a must read gripping twisty addictive brilliant read
Absolutely loved this thriller! Kept me on my toes the whole time, try to figure out whether the heroine will be successful escaping the clutches of her deranged husband. Excellent writing style!
I don't want to ruin this book for everyone who still has to read it, but believe me when I say that you are in for a thrilling read!
The story is really well written and I could not put it away. Can highly recommend!
Chloe falls head over heals for Dan and they get married within 2 months of meeting. On their honeymoon she discovers that Dan has no intention of them returning to their normal lives and plans to stay there indefinitely.
She ignores several red flags and excuses Dans controlling tendencies as “taking care of her.” I enjoyed the pace of the book but it was all a little too far fetched. I kept asking myself why she hadn’t followed through on how she was feeling once. There are several arguments that are quickly thwarted by a long stare or kiss.
The ending was definitely unexpected, a twist that shatters all she’s forced herself to believe. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I appreciated the ending redeeming Chloe’s lack of backbone throughout the rest of the story!
This Author has talent. I have now read (and loved) all of her books. This one, I think, gives a lesson to people who get married without knowing their better half very well. Chloe and Dan both hide a big secret from each other and their world comes crashing down. Lots of things happened that I did not foresee. I will tell you, the ending shocked me. Can't wait to see what this Author writes next. Deserves more stars than 5. Thanks to NetGalley, Bookoutre and the Author for the privilege of reading this book.
Read this one in 24 hours. Completely absorbed into the story and could not put it down. A very easy and enjoyable read.
As soon as I saw the cover of this book, I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. And that tagline - marry in haste, repent at leisure. Isn't it just brilliant?
The story was just as gripping as I'd hoped it would be. Rona Halsall has the knack of being able to draw you in slowly, getting you hooked on her characters and their secrets, while drip feeding you twists until you don't know which way is up. When Chloe marries Dan after being together for only 2 months, well, it was never going to end well, was it? But what is he really hiding? And can she trust him with her life?
Truly thrilling and utterly engaging, The Honeymoon is one of those brilliant beach reads that I'm sure will fly off the shelves.
The Honeymoon by author Rona Halsall is a 5 star book for me! It had that ball of mix feelings, adrenaline, twist! The character development is there and it’s easy to follow but not boringly easy. I absolutely loved The Honeymoon and cannot recommend the book enough! Coming SOON and definitely another I’ll add to my home library of domestic thrillers!
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of The Honeymoon in exchange for an honest review. It did not disappoint!!
I liked the premise of this book but felt the execution fell short from my expectations.
The first half was really good and kept me invested in the story of a newly weds whose honeymoon turns into a nightmare when the husband starts behaving oddly.
My problem is with the second half where it was more or less a roller coaster of contradictions and unrealistic behavior that I found it hard to relate to.
3.5 rounded to 4 as I cared enough to finish the book.
Thanks Netgalley, Bookouture, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
The Honeymoon is a hard one for me to review. I loved the first have of the book, but the last half of the book was a bit of a struggle to finish. I felt like the ending was thrown together and some parts didn't make sense. This could have been a great book of the second half was like the first.
The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall is a twisty thriller that had me hooked from the very first page. This is a crafty and cautionary tale that conjures up the old adage, "marry in haste, repent at leisure".
Chloe believes that she has finally met the love of her life in Dan, and the two marry after a whirlwind courtship of only a few months. Chloe has become more or less estranged from her family, blaming herself for the death of her mother, and is thrilled that she has, at last, found someone who will love her unconditionally. But when Dan promises Chloe the honeymoon of her dreams in the Maldives, and then whisks her off to Menora instead with nary an explanation, Chloe begins to question just how well she really knows the man she has vowed to love forever.
As Dan's odd behaviour in Menorca continues to escalate, Chloe's actions, or inactions, are almost impossible to fathom but, for me, this all contributed to ensuring the full emotional involvement of the reader. I had no inkling how this one would end, and I was kept fully engaged throughout.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.
I thought this was definitely a five star read. However, the second half of the book got more and more ridiculous, She love him, she loves him not. He's not abusive. Then he is. He's holding her hostage, then she escapes, and is sorry she did. Absolutely befuddling. No one coukd possibly be that stupid! And if they were, who wants to read about it anyway! Nonsensical premise, overall these waters are so muddy you can't see clearly. Not really recommended. Had promise, therefore the three stars, but dwindled to a literal mess.
The beginning of this book had promise. Seemed like it took too long to get to what was going on, and parts of it just were like it didn't fit with the story line. Sorry not one of my best reads. Though i did finish it only a 3 star from me.
Disappointed as loved loved you gone was hoping i would love this one too.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an ARC for this book.
I’m terribly sorry to leave negative feedback but I could not finish as the two main characters were awful. Chloe just went along with anything Dan said when it wa so obvious he was no good. Sorry. Not for me
How well do you know the person you sleep next to every night? Chloe thinks Dan is her perfect match, they had a beautiful wedding and now they are enjoying a honeymoon on a lush island far away from everyone and everything. And while Chloe would like their time in paradise to last a little longer, Dan is determined that it won’t end – ever. As my mother used to say – marry in haste, repent at leisure
This was a weird one.
I massively enjoyed the first two thirds of the book. In fact I was hooked. I could barely put it down. I was flipping through the pages as fast as I could!
But then the reveal happens... and it wasn’t great. And following it we’re reveals... reveals... and more reveals. The last few chapters felt rushed, almost as if they had been put on the end as an after thought because it needed more twists.
I don’t know if it was just my ARC, but there were loads of punctuation mistakes which really annoyed me. I was struggling at times to follow bits of dialogue because of the punctuation errors.
I liked the premise a lot. The whole idea intrigued me. And I really enjoyed the tension in the first half of the book.
I would happily read more from the author, it wasn’t a bad book, just not the thriller I expected it to be.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions in this review are my own.
