This was an easy read but I kept waiting for something big to happen but it just didn’t .
The plot was well written and the characters described well.

This book is a great example of why you should never rush into a marriage. It had plenty of potential, but the plot really fell flat in my opinion. The writing style left a lot to be desired, and something about the sentence structure really irked me. The plot dragged a lot for the latter half, and I found myself rushing to get it finished. Not one I’d recommend.

You can’t marry someone you just met and not expect to encounter a few surprises. Unfortunately for Chloe, her new husband has secrets that frighten her and make her question if she really knows him at all. “The Honeymoon” started out as a great read and is well-written. I love a good thriller. However as the story progressed it was almost too much. One twisty turn after the other. I found Chloe to be unlikeable and slightly ignorant. Love is blind, I suppose.

The Honeymoon was a quick fast paced read that I overall enjoyed. I think that some parts near the end were a little far fetched but the ending was still decent. I can see this book being a light summer read that people will enjoy. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this.

👰🏼🤵🏻THE HONEYMOON 🌊
.
You’ve heard the story before. Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. Love at first sight and they fall in love. So was the story of Chloe and Dan.
.
Chloe was used to living a quiet life. She had already lost both her parents and so she spent her days working and caring for her Gran.
.
When Dan walked in her office one day and proceeded to sweep her off her feet, Chloe fell and she fell hard. He lavished her with constant attention and care and she relished in it. Chloe couldn’t get over how nice it felt to finally go from being the caregiver to the one being cared for and she allowed herself to enjoy each and every moment.
.
After only one month, Dan proposed and Chloe eagerly accepted. Soon plans were made for their wedding and her dream Honeymoon in the Maldives was planned.
.
But, how well can you possibly know someone after only a month? What secrets can they harbor or hide?
.
As the newlyweds are headed to their honeymoon things begin to go wrong. Chloe is trying to come to terms with a destination change to countless unanswered questions from her new husband but decided to make the best of it.
.
However, Chloe soon discovers that her dream honeymoon will become her worst nightmare, for once she arrives on the island Dan will refuse to let her leave!!!
.
This story hooked me from the beginning! From the very first “what in the heck” moment when she found out she wasn’t going where intended for her honeymoon to the very end! The twists and turns throughout this book kept me engaged but Chloe’s indecision and lack of backbone had me hollering at my iPad saying “what are you doing?”
.
Overall, I loved this psychological thriller and think it is a fun summer read! I give it 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stars! Thanks again to @netgalley #partner for my gifted copy!

I was excited to get an advance copy of this book from Net Galley and the premise sounded really great. The story started off well but I quickly became annoyed with the main character Chloe and it ruined my enjoyment.

How could she make such bad decisions? She married someone she barely knew after just a couple of months and early on it seemed she was questioning some of his actions, but just let it all slide, ignored her doubts and carried on. Later in the story she manages to escape her husband Dan in Menorca and return to Brighton. But after just a couple of days although she knew what he’d been up to, she had a change of heart and flew back to Menorca to him- This just seemed too unbelievable to me unfortunately.

On the plus side, it was an easy read, would be good holiday reading, and I did keep going until the end as I wanted to know how it was going to end. Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for providing an advance copy in return for my honest opinion.

I have shared this review on Goodreads.

Sadly it did not maintain my interest. It was a bit of a lame story- so much so that while reading it I found myself shouting at the book because Chloe was such a wet blanket or too blind too see Dan for what he truly was.
Thank you to both NetGalley and Bookoutre for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest unbiased review

What would you do if you married someone and went on your honeymoon to be told by your new husband you weren't ever going back home. Chloe met Dan and married after a few weeks. On honeymoon they ended up in Menorca not the Maldives and Dan became very secretive from here.
I enjoyed the book as Chloe tried to make sense of why Dan was so insistent they stayed in Menorca and not return to England, but there were parts that I really didn't understand why she would have done things she did.
The plot was quite fast paced which was good and I enjoyed the ending that tied everything together.

Thanks so much for this ARC.

What a read. Totally intense and on the edge of your seat suspense. I loved this book, it was fast paced and flowed easily. Chloe was extremely naive (read: dumb) for going back to Menorca, but it worked for the storyline obviously!

What a read! Be prepared for an unexpected honeymoon; twisted and original will be worth every minute.
This is one of those books that you make your own plot on your mind while you are reading the story; without knowing who to trust or what to believe. The story is addictive and gripping, you’ll be turning pages like mad wanting to discover what’s happening, I can assure you.
Chloe is the happiest woman on earth, she has just married the love of her life and they are traveling to Maldives for the honeymoon or that’s why she thinks, because her new husband has decided to re-arrange the trip to Menorca in a very remote villa instead of her dreamed place. Sadly that’s only the beginning, her new husband, Dan, is hiding her mobile and passport to keep her safe. From what? I am sure you’ll be asking, the only answer she will have is that he will tell her everything when this situation ends … I am sure you’ll don’t like this answer, like Chloe, so she will decide to return home only to find that someone has cancelled her flat contract, her job and all her credit accounts! Did Dan do everything or there’s someone else trying to hurt them and Dan is only trying to keep her safe?
Chloe is not an easy character to love, she is always doubting and is too much trustworthy for my taste, but I suppose that if you’ll know all her decisions in life you can more or less understand her, even if sometimes makes you want to shout at her…!
Dan has a lot of secrets but the main question is; is he really telling the truth that wants to keep Chloe safe or he is a controller and wants to keep her locked? You’ll only have the answers for the questions at the end of the book, there are so many twists and grey sides on this book that I am sure you’ll love it.

Thoughts while reading: Why are you going back to this psycho?! If the husband was a little less lock you in the dungeon and more when need to be careful about locking the door sweetheart. I think all the crazy stuff would have been creepier and not just "the weirdo husband is at it again" That storyline was heavy handed and weighed down the book.

I did, however, really like the ending, the very ending. Not that mess of a wrap up that was the ending,

So, I read this on my honeymoon, I do not recommend that. Luckily we were not in the Maldives and my husband stayed by my side!

When I picked up The Honeymoon, I was skeptic. I had taken a short break from thriller reads because they had become too predictable for me. Every book's blurb promised a shocking twist, and I felt that too many didn't deliver. The Honeymoon was not like that. It was gripping (as I said, I was also on my Honeymoon), as we follow Jemma on her honeymoon, and through the disappearance of her husband from their five star resort in the Maldives. The Honeymoon takes us deeper into their relationship, and we start to learn that things are not always as they seem.

The Honeymoon is a fast-paced thriller full of twists and turns, and it kept my guessing until the end. Every time I thought I had it figured out, another twist came in and proved me wrong.

This book had a hard time keeping me interested. I found the main character to be quite the idiot. It drove me crazy how stupid and unsuspecting she was about Dan. Overall it was an okay book but I wish the main character was less of a ditz

Marry in haste, repent in leisure.
The Honeymoon by Rona Halsall is a fast-paced, and tension-filled book I couldn't keep down. Having recently returned from a honeymoon myself, I found the contents of this book to be terrifying!

Chloe, a physiotherapist meets Dan and falls head-over-heels with him, After a whirlwind romance, Dan pops the question and Chloe says yes. On their honeymoon to idyllic Menorca, Chloe starting noticing Dan behaving weirdly. He makes important life decisions without consulting with her. He keeps telling her that he's gotta keep her 'safe'. He has violent nightmares. He doesn't let her out of her sight. All this - Chloe had no idea of before the wedding. All Dan tells her, without so much as an explanation is that she's not to leave Menorca and be away from his sight. Does she really know the man she married? Is it an elaborate ruse to keep her under his thumb and away from her friends and family? Or is the threat to their lives real?

I liked both the characters and the plot of this book. However, the entire 'reason' behind Dan's crazy behavior was something difficult to digest. Although I got frustrated with Chloe and her naiveness I thought her behavior was realistic. On the other hand, I hoped to see what made Dan tick, what his childhood was like, why did he fall in love with Chloe, etc. He's a mystery character, right from the start to the finish with the curtain raised just a little bit for a tiny peek. The plot was good. I loved the ending! Also, what a wonderful cover!

Thank you, NetGalley, Bookouture & Rona Halsall for an arc!

Chloe and Dan marry shortly after meeting and plan to go to the Maldives for their honeymoon. Chloe is beyond shocked when, while boarding the plane, she discovers that they are not going to the Maldives but to Menorca instead. Soon Chloe learns that Dan has been to the same place and the same house before. When he tells her that they are not going back home but are going to make their home in Menorca, Chloe tries to figure out why that is and who she married.

This book had a super plot line. It was an awesome idea to have newlyweds begin their marriage by with a mystery about who each of them is and what secrets they are hiding. In the end, this was a good book with many twists.

However, to be honest, I almost stopped reading halfway in. I hated Chloe’s character and she was the protagonist. She was very irritating. One moment she believed Dan and then in the same paragraph doubted him. For example, in chapter 4, Dan tells Chloe that his car was damaged. In a few paragraphs, she says she wants to stay to wait for the tow because it could be just an excuse; that she had been deceived before; that something felt off and then she tells him she loves him. What!? They have only been dating two weeks. Where is her internal BS meter? Chloe is just as indecisive throughout. In the plane, she jumps from he is lying to he is telling the truth and from he is wonderful and I shouldn’t have married him. Sometimes opposing thoughts are in the same paragraph!

Stick with this book. Readers should enjoy the second half which then will leave you liking the book.

Chloe was a physiotherapist. She tried to care for her Gran, who constantly berated her for past misdeeds. Her brother & sister are always belittling her. So when Dan brings his mother for an appointment, she can't believe this handsome man is interested in her. Within a very short time they are married & on their way to the Maldives for her dream honeymoon. When Dan steers her onto the plane for Minorca she is hurt and upset. Things don't improve much when, instead of the luxury hotel, they arrive at a self catering villa a long way from anywhere.

The loving devoted Dan, suddenly seems to ignore her wishes. He is her husband. He loves her. It is his job to make sure she is safe. But safe from what? Why can't they even have a window open at night? And where is her phone? Chloe begins to realise she really doesn't know the man she's married! The old saying "Marry in haste:Repent at Leisure" seemed very apt!

Although I found Chloe to be a bit irritating, with her background I suppose I could understand why she fell so hard fro Dan & why she struggled to give him the benefit of the doubt.

All in all this was a great read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

I have enjoyed this author’s previous books and this one didn’t disappoint. It had me hooked from the opening chapter when we meet up with Chloe and Dan at the airport jetting off on their honeymoon. We learn that Dan has swept Chloe off her feet after a whirlwind romance of only two months. Chloe is desperate for someone to love her. Her mother’s death has left Chloe with a feeling of guilt, as her grandmother, sister and brother blame her. So she can’t believe her luck in meeting and marrying Dan. He seems the perfect man, wanting to spend all his time with her and the perfect considerate son looking after his mother’s needs. Nothing can go wrong can it? But warning bells start to ring when they check in at the airport and Chloe finds that instead of booking the honeymoon she had always dreamed of to the Maldives, Dan has changed it without consulting her and they are flying to Majorca. This is the start of a nightmare for Chloe. She realises that Dan is keeping lots of secrets from her as he virtually keeps her a prisoner in the villa as he says their lives are in danger, Chloe eventually discovers that the danger is from events in Dan’s past which are gradually revealed. This is a cleverly written book, full of lies and deceit and plenty of twists and turns. Would make a brilliant holiday read.
