This is my first Tarryn Fisher and it definitely will not be my last. i loved this book so much. This was a 5 star read for me! I don't want to say to much about it because I believe it's best to go into thrillers blindly. This book follows are main character Thursday who's married to Seth, the caveat here is that Seth is also married to two other women! This book wasn't at all what i expected but I loved every minute of it. If you like domestic thrillers definitely give this one a go!

I was initially sucked right into this story, but I think like many others when the plot twist came, I was deeply disappointed. I was certainly hoping for a different turn of events.

Tarryn Fisher is one of my absolute favorite authors!!!! She amazes me with her beautiful writing and her ability to write different genres.

The Wives may not be my favorite of her books but she did a excellent job non the less. But for whatever reason this story just didn’t quite grip my attention like Mud Vein or Bad Mommy! For that reason I gave it 4 stars.

I can’t wait to read what she has in store for us next!

The first half of this book felt like a very different story and theme from the second half, which involved a number of twists and so many questions as I turned each page. Tarryn Fisher is an excellent writer and this book will keep you guessing until the very end. While the ending was a surprise to me, it left me a bit disappointed and wanting a more complex answer. 4 stars.

no no no no no.. what in the name of ableism and misogyny???

This was the most trash piece of literature I've attempted to read in years. I seriously cannot even wrap my head around how terrible this was. Offensive, excessively triggering, and confusing af. First I heard so many great things, then sooooo many bad things, and, when it boils down to it, the critiques were spot on. Part of me is glad I gave it a shot for myself, but the other part of me thinks I should REALLLLLY stop wasting my time on books that have bad reviews from people I trust.

ultimately... a BIG yikes.

“It’s all too perfect, I think. When things are that perfect, something is wrong.“

Wow. It’s been a long time since I sat down and read a book cover to cover without stopping but once I got on The Wives express, I couldn’t get off. The Wives is told from the voice of Thursday, wife #2. She doesn’t know anything about the other two wives, which makes this polygamy tale very unique. Things aren’t always as they seem and that unfolds very quickly in this fast paced psychological thriller. I thought I had it all figured out and then the floor dropped out from under the rollercoaster I was on. Ms. Fisher delivers a heart pounding, page turner. The writing and twists reminded me of the likes of Gone Girl or Girl on the Train. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, I highly recommend checking out The Wives! You won’t be disappointed.

I enjoyed this book so much. It was an incredible ride. I read it within a day and was completely shocked by the ending. If you are looking for a good thriller that will knock you off your feet, I recommend this one.

Although I read this book quickly, and found it intriguing at first, I thought the end was incredibly rushed and a bit ridiculous. The female characters were also portrayed as incredibly dependent, weak, and self-absorbed. I didn't really like any of the characters. This one honestly disappointed me.

There aren’t words for Tarryn Fisher. I know I posted a review of F*ck Marriage not too long ago, but that book is Tarryn Fisher lite. It’s not a mystery, it’s just a woman dealing with life (which is something Tarryn Fisher excels at writing). However, twisty-turny mystery thrillers are where Tarryn Fisher lights up the damn sky. The Wives is a rollercoaster and a brain exercise all rolled into one.
It’s been almost 3 months and I’m still not sure what I read. Thursday loves Seth, but Seth loves her AND his two other wives. I don’t want to say more because going into this without any knowledge is really what made it work for me. I didn’t know what to expect from Thursday, and I didn’t know where her journey was going. Thursday was so very dysfunctional, and it started making me question what I really knew about this book. I had a lot of sympathy for Thursday, and for Hannah (wife #3) because they seemed to be the biggest victims. I did not see that ending coming and it made my mouth drop open. I had to re-read the last chapter twice, just to make sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. They weren’t!
The last 20% of the book did feel a bit rushed, and that’s where it lost a star for me. It was a steady build up, and then it’s like the roller-coaster hit the top and went barreling down the track and ended before I really got a chance to enjoy it. 4 out of 5 stars.

Three stars because I was invested in the plot, but the use of mental illness here was weird at best. Maybe it’s because I’ve read a few books lately operating on a similar twist, but it’s cheap and degrading to women who have actually experienced that event (trying to be vague and avoid spoilers). It was a great concept but I would have liked it to rely less on exploitive tropes. #netgalley

I enjoyed this story at the beginning but I found it awkward and not very believable as it developed.

I enjoyed this book right until the last two chapters. I was disappointed with the ending as new facts were brought about which were both unbelievable and totally unknown to the reader until that point. It's like being given a mystery to solve, but not all the facts. The story line was very promising. Set in Utah and Washington, the story is told from the perspective of the second wife of a polygamist. She is aware of the other two wives but does not know their names or where they live. After various life events, she decides to find out more about them with life-changing consequences. I still gave it four stars as it was very good until the end.

Here is a tale told by a woman who is married to a husband who has 2 other wives. No marriage is perfect, right? The big thing is, her husband has no idea that she has discovered that he has other wives...it's all hush hush and a big secret.

She finds the first wife, Hannah, discovered from a peice of paper in her husband's pocket. She befriends her and starts to see her husband in a different light. The race is one to find the third wife before it's too late.

This book is fast-paced and will have you hooked. In the middle everything gets turned upside down and you go on a wild ride. Wow. This book is sure to please many as it twists and turns and leave you guessing and wanting more!

This was one wild ride of a book. Probably closer to 3.5 stars but I’m rounding up because I was very entertained. If you like unreliable narrators and plots that make you feel like you’re watching as a train wreck happens (in a good way), this is for you.

This book was not what I thought it was going to be. From that summary, you don't get a lot of information so you're going into the book a little unsure of what to expect.

Thursday is married to Seth, who has two other wives. He's technically a polygamist but unlike Sister Wives on TLC, these wives don't know each other and don't live together. Seth is basically cheating on all his wives.

Thursday is the 2nd newest wife and our protagonist; she is head over heels for Seth but then curiosity gets the best of her and she starts to wonder about the other wives. Thursday takes it upon herself to find out information about the women she shares her husband with.

As Thursday discovers more about the wives and even meets them in person, the story of her life and her marriage starts to unravel. Everything she thought she knew about Seth was wrong. Thursday starts to second guess herself, tries to get away, and tries to enlist the help of the other wives.

Everything blows up in her face, things go a little wild and her life is forever changed.

This is not a mystery thriller, it's definitely more of a psychological novel with a twist at the end that I really didn't see coming and honestly didn't believe it until the last page.

I really loved this book and it will probably be a favorite book of the year for me. It was very easy to read, not scary and made you second guess everything that was being told to you. I love a good psychological thriller, something that isn't scary or a true-crime based but something that has to do with people's minds.

There isn't too much else to say without giving away the entire plot but this book is not what you expect, and I loved every moment of it.

This book had me gripped from quite literally the first page. I knew I was going to be intrigued with this right one right from the synopsis. The whole premise was unique and something I couldn’t pass up.

I found myself weirdly loving the main character. I had to see what she was going to do next, and tried to picture myself in the same situation. It was hard not to question every move she made, but you always knew why which was good. Seth honestly just annoyed me, every move he made made me cringe. I think him as a character made me cringe.

If you are looking for a roller coaster ride of a read, you’ve found it! This book is a complete mindf*ck, in the best possible way. The book is full of unreliable characters that will make your head spin. I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a quick reading thriller.

I was in need of a silly, distracting thriller and I thought The Wives by Tarryn Fisher might fit the bill. Thursday is a woman in a most unusual relationship. She is married to a man who is married to two other women. She doesn't know them. This isn't a religious thing. They don't all live together in a compound out in the middle of nowhere. Thursday is just in love with her husband and the fact that he is also married to two other women isn't enough to change that. What does start to change some things is when she lets her curiosity get the better of her. And we all know what that did to the cat...

This was a super fast read that keeps the pages turning. It is such an unusual situation that you just can't look away. And then it gets crazier and crazier. I can't say this book was great, but it was pretty good. I was bothered that Thursday had several moments where she was just plain crass and it didn't seem to fit very well. It was almost as if the author had thrown it in because she thought that was what women in thrillers were supposed to say, ala Gone Girl or The Girl on the Train. I'd say if you need something to distract you from the real world (who doesn't right now) or to read on the beach, this would be a good fit.

Every single time I read a Tarryn Fisher book she f**ks with my head. But it's in all the right ways. I couldn't put this book down!!! I had to find out what was happening and what was going on and again I was totally left guessing and guessing. And just when I thought I had it all figured out then here comes a right turn and boom I knew nothing!! I would recommend this book to everyone!!!! And especially to men out there it might just teach some lessons to you....lol

I'm so disappointed that I didn't love this book the way I thought I would. That's not to say that Tarryn is a masterful writer. The way she weaves a story is like no other. I'm not a fan of feeling confused after I finish reading a book, and I just feel like I was left hanging in a way. I know I'm in the minority with this book, so please don't let this review deter you from reading it!
