I don't have too much to say about this one, folks. Unfortunately, while I was excited for this novel initially earlier in 2019, I've since come to realize that psychological thrillers involving other women, mistresses, and/or multiple wives are just not for me.

The writing was strong, and it is definitely a gripping premise. For those who enjoy their mystery/thrillers psychological, definitely check this one out.

I found myself initially hooked on the premise of one wife discovering that all might not be well with her husband's other wives...and maybe there's something beneath the surface of her supposedly loving husband. But, once the beginning of the novel took off, I found the narrator's voice grating, and found myself quickly losing interest in the story's premise.

Like other reviewers have stated, the twist was also slightly predictable. But, again, this might be down to personal taste. Overall, not for me, but do check it out if you're a fan of the genre!

Wow! I am all twisted up inside right now, but in the best possible way!

I've never read this author, and don't often read this style of story, but I knew I had to give it a whirl because I'd been hearing nothing but amazing things about it.

And I have to say, it was amazing! I was constantly on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what would happen next. Every time I thought I had a piece of the puzzle figured out, I was quickly proven incorrect.

Twists, turns, and surprises around every corner, Tarryn Fisher had me guessing until the very last page. And I still had to re-read the last few pages because I couldn't believe the ending.

This is an amazing five-star read, and definitely not one I'm likely to forget anytime soon. Well done, TF!

Okay so let me be real with you for a minute. The Wives was not a one sitting book for me. I had to read little pieces over several days. I'd actually read some of the blurb which is odd for me. So I knew what The Wives was about and for some reason small doses worked out for me.

I wasn't a huge fan of Thursday (could be the way she trashed Portland) but she was a fantastic unreliable narrator. Like I thought I knew her but oh did that ever change.

In true Tarryn fashion there was some dark and twisted turns. I had to stop my eyes from dancing all over the page and I'm pretty happy I had an ebook copy otherwise I would've spoiled it for myself.

The Wives begins as a look into a modern polygamist relationship and spirals into a psychological thriller that will leave you questioning each character along the way. Thursday, a second but legal wife to her stretched too thin husband, becomes too curious about her husband's other 2 wives she has yet to meet. Unlike most polygamist families that work as a single unit, her husband made the choice to keep their lives completely separate. As she searches for answers about the women who share her husband, she realizes she may not know the man she's married to at all.

It has been ages since I read a psychological thriller and I have to say Tarryn nailed it with this story.

I knew from the little teasing glimpses that we got that this was going to be something completely different, the storyline is unique one which will have you second guessing not only the characters but yourself too. Thursday shares her husband with his other wives but when she stumbles upon a secret everything in her life takes on new meaning.

I really didn't know what to make of Thursday's character, we know alot about her but as the story progressed I realised we had only scratched the surface of who she is. I became almost as obsessed with her as she was with finding out her husbands secrets. Reading the book I kept asking myself who and what do I believe. Tarryn is a writing magician, she has given the reader a deep twisty original well thought out story that is worthy of more than five stars.
What will happen when everything is revealed, is Thursday prepared for the truth I know that I wasn't and that ending was truly jaw dropping.

Whoa! That was an intense ride.

It’s been a bit since I’ve read a good thriller. Maybe since Verity by Colleen Hoover. But even that pales in comparison to this mindfuck.

Going in, I thought I knew what I was in for. I didn’t think I could be surprised. I had a different guess as to what was really going on...and though I wasn’t right, I still maintain it was a cool idea too.

Anyhow, in the beginning I was grossed out. By the love story, the situation, all of it. I didn’t think I’d enjoy a story about polygamy.

As things began to unravel, it was clear this wasn’t all cut and dry. Someone was lying. Or seeing things incorrectly. But who?

I love books that fuck with my head. And it’s been ages since one has. Not on this level. It’s a refreshing thriller. One I’ll be thinking about for a long time to come.

More of this, please, TF!!!

This is an author I love, however, this work was not the best for me. There was a story, a "twist" and all of the pacing. I will look for her next project.

The Wives was a twisted suspenseful read that had me completely on edge the entire time I was reading it. Although it took me a couple of chapters to get into the story, once I was into it, I was compulsively turning pages as fast as possible trying to work out the twist.

I fell in love with Tarry Fisher's style of writing during F*ck Love and have followed her and her writing ever since. I thought The Wives was a step away from Tarryn's usual writing style, It was unpredictable and unexpected.

The Wives is written in first person from the Point of View of Thursday who is Seth's second wife. The arrangement that Thursday has with Seth is that she doesn't know the identity of his other two wives who are Seth and Thursday refer to as Monday and Tuesday. The arrangement has worked until Thursday finds out something that completely shifts her world.

Tarryn Fisher has a unique writing style that captivates and keeps your attention until the last page and The Wives was no different. I was so intrigued by the concept of The Wives and was invested in Thursday getting her truth and feeling secure and confident in her marriage with Seth.

With each chapter of The Wives, you learn one more secret about Thursday and Seth's situation and the arrangement they have with the other wives, yet with each chapter you'e left with more questions. There's a turning point where you think you'll get more answers but are thrown through a loop with so much information. While I did find The Wives compelling and thrilling I did also work out the twist which I was frustrated at myself for because I love surprises and suspense so much!

If you love thrilling stories with a hint of a non-traditional romance, you will absolutely love this book!

This is 100% a book that you should go into without ANY prior information. Uncovering the plot piece-by-piece made the story so much more enjoyable AND allowed each shocking discovery to hit me like a ton of bricks.

The writing was engaging, allowing me to be sucked in until I finished it in one day!

Please note that this one is more of a mystery thriller rather than a romance BUT does include some steamier scenes. I highly recommend this one for readers who want gut-wrenching characters with a mind-boggling twist at the end. A true 5 out of 5 star read for me!!

This is superbly twisting. You won’t be able to stop...there is no good point because you need the end....answers...explanation. Just when you think you’ve gripped WTH is going on....page turn....head over backside flip. I was entranced in Thursday’s life trying to see through her eyes but what’s great about a story is you don’t have to agree with the characters choices for it to be entertaining and addicting. This is those things.

You will grasp at pieces and look for fitting edges and when the picture comes together you’ll say..huh...wow and dive in for more.

I kind of need more...I’d have liked a little further exploration and finish to ease this bereft WTF feeling I’m surrounded by having reached the end. I’m not certain I understand Thursday much more at then end than when I began but the ride to the final words is a whirlwind and so worth the trip.

A tripping trek through mind fuckery and you won’t be the same at the end. READ IT...you’ll see.

The Wives by Tarryn Fisher is a psychological thriller that had me gripped from the opening pages. The story is told from the point of view of Thursday, one of three wives that are marred to a man named Seth.

Thursday knows that she is sharing her husband but she tries to be alright with that fact and be Seth’s best wife. The couple only meets on Thursdays but when they do Thursday tries to make it a perfect night for her husband always cooking and taking care of him but Seth often sneaks off in the mornings leaving her until their next night together.

Even though Thursday only knows the other wives by their nicknames she always asks Seth what is happening in their lives so she knows some of what goes on in the other relationships. Once Thursday finds evidence of one of the other wives in the arrangement she can’t help but look into more information.

This story is one that definitely takes the reader on a wild ride once it takes off with plenty of twists and turns along the way. I was completely engaged from the very start wanting to know of the relationship and what would happen and it only became more and more engaging as you peeled back the layers to the relationship as it went along.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Tarryn Fisher has really outdone herself with this story. From the very first moment I started to read this story, I did not put it down until I finished the very last page. Even after I finished reading this story it stayed with me for a long time. Ther storylines had me completely captivated with the story and it had me sitting on the edge of my seat in suspense throughout it. There was so much mystery in the story with many twists and turns that had me rereading chapters to make sure I read it correctly. This story really brought up a range of emotions in me from shock to anger to disbelief. This is one of the stories that will stay with me long after I finished reading it. This is a definite must-read for anyone looking for a good thriller.

4.5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫
Captivating writing and a twisted, fast-paced storyline-
THE WIVES is the first book I've read by Tarryn Fisher and it was unputdownable!

The story was told in first person, from the perspective of a woman named Thursday.
I really loved Fisher's writing style. The events that transpired were interesting, and the engaging, mysterious plot traveled in a direction I hadn't expected.

THE WIVES was overall an intriguing read, full of surprises. If you're looking for a thriller to enjoy in the New Year, give it a shot!

A tale of madness and delusion – THE WIVES is the feel-bad read of the year. Why? Because I wanted to be shocked with the ending. It was bit of an anticlimax. I wanted to throw something at the wall in anger because I didn’t see it coming. There is little wrong with the first 25% of the book. The slow deliberate pace will fool you. To keep you reading, you develop scenarios and guesses regarding what’s going on.
Thursday is sharing her husband with two other wives and have become curious and envious of who they are. She is the perfect housewife and looks forward to her day of the week she spends with Seth. Since there are four major characters, you must wonder why you do not have at least 3 POVs. Thursday is the singular POV and of course you don’t know what is real and what is deceit.
At the 50% mark, the purpose of the book is revealed. Thursday is trying to discover who Seth really is. It sets up the tense thriller moments to have the reader wondering which characters are being truthful. You will guess where this book is going, and you will be wrong. If you like to be tricked, manipulated and surprised, you will love this book. Which leads to the bloody ending: Did the book really happen?

This is my first Tarryn Fisher book. And boy... what a book to start with! This book is definitely not one of my normal reads. Psychological suspenseful thrillers are just not my thing. I read this synopsis.... and I knew I just had to give this book a try.

I’m not a very patient person. So this book tested my will not to flip to the back and find out what happens! lol
Because I wanted to! So bad!

I really enjoyed the writing style in this book. It just flowed. I sat down and before I knew it I was already at 49% within a couple of hours!

I don’t even know where to start with this book review because I don’t want to give anything away. But just know that there a lot of twist and turns. Just when you got things figured out. Nope... it goes in another direction. It was interesting to read.

When everything was revealed... I was kinda put off a little.
Do I wish the twist in this book was different. Yes. I kinda figured it out around the middle of this book. I think that’s why I was a little let down it went that way.

But overall this was a solid read! I would recommend this book to someone that’s looking for something a little different.

The only way to start this review is, what just happened? What did I just read? What the heck just happened?
I am still trying to wrap my head around this story. Buckle up baby, you are in for a ride.

This is where Ms. Fisher shines, her psychological thrillers and mind bending twists are where she is at her absolute best. The ride The Wives takes you on is nothing short of the tallest roller coaster at the amusement park. Prepare for the highs and lows.
Thursday, had me hooked. I was very vested in her mind set with her husband Seth. I was like "NOPE, never in my life could I allow the things he does." Saying Thursday falls down the rabbit hole of his life is putting it mildly. She decides that she needs to know more about what he is doing with his OTHER wives and his life outside "their" marriage. Thursday is ill prepared for what she is about to witness or is she?
I did love this story but I did have some issues. At times I felt like I was dealing with 50 different split personalities. I get it , there are multiple characters and layers to each of them. It just became a bit crowded at times. It was a tad bit predictable a few times and I saw things coming,
I feel like the last half of the story was more on target. And that last chapter... I WAS TOTALLY MIND F&UCKED. I was not sure how the ending was going to play out between Regina and Thursday. Ms. Fisher, gave us what we all secretly wanted.

I read a review that said you’ll have whiplash until the very end. I couldn’t agree more. This is the role model for unreliable narrators. Is Thursday the legal wife in a polygamous marriage? She lives in Seattle and the other two “wives” live in Portland Oregon. A longer review would only give away too much.
