I love a strong female lead, and this did not disappoint. I loved Sawyer from the start, she's smart and tough. There's a lot going on, but the side plots are easy to follow, and work well with the main plot. We get to follow the mystery as it's unraveled, as well as get peeks at the private lives of those on the case. There were enough twists to keep everything interesting, and keep me turning pages.
Karma Wears Versace is a well-crafted mystery that includes enough twists and turns to keep you invested until the very end.
Synopsis: Atlanta doesn’t have room for both an incomparable serial killer and the phenomenal homicide detective, Aisha Sawyer. The showdown is set with the killer’s first feat: murder by viral disease, contaminating a hip hop icon and a med student. The investigation sends Sawyer and her whole-snack partner after a logical mark, a surgeon with motive and the resume to fit the crime. Sawyer, however, defies logic and her sergeant.
While the conflict was entertaining I really couldn't get into the storyline. Also, there was room for added depth and clarity in the writing. I don't remember walking away feeling like I really understood the motivations of the characters outside of the surface conflicts.
Great story. Only took me a couple of days to finish. Look forward to reading more books by this author.
This book has a little bit of everything. Murder, mystery, humor, and wit. The story moves when it should and relaxes the pace at times to give the reader time to process. Couldn't get enough of the heroine and her in your face attitude and grace.
This was a delightful book, that had all the ingredients for a great tale - intrigue, plot twists, character building, and a thrilling ending.
Great read. The author wrote a story that was interesting and moved at a pace that kept me engaged. The characters were easy to invest in.
Good read however predictable in places.
I did not enjoy the writing or slang used but I did manage to get through it although it’s a forgettable book and will not stay in my memory.
An enjoyable story about marriage and family, about the troubled minds that some people have to go through and at which extent they are taking everything, about strong women and their jobs in a man's world. There are slangs and words that I personally don't know as I don't live in the states but that didn't deter me to enjoy this well written story.
