Karin Slaughter is an author I’m fascinated by. She’s a fantastic writer and it shows on every single page! I read this one, heart pounding pretty much the whole time. How does she do that?
This is the 9th book in the Will Trent series and as with any series, the character development in the past books is important. However.... I have not read the Will books in order, or even all of them and I still thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The chemistry (haha) between Will and Sara is off the charts. We’re given some back story about Will’s time in foster homes and Sara’s background as a doctor and a policeman’s widow. They are broken and vulnerable and freaking adorable as a couple and I’m rooting for them.
This title covers topics that are timely - politics, chemical warfare, white supremacy, military and immigration. There is non graphic sexual abuse of children which was hard to read. There were a lot of hard parts to read, but I think if you’re reading this author, you know that parts are going to be grim and harsh and ugly.
This book checked all the boxes, sympathetic characters, heart pounding tension, a believable story and a sprinkling of humor.
Thanks to Netgalley for the early review copy.
I have enjoyed all of the books in the Will Trent series, but this is my favorite so far. I couldn't put it down! What a timely story and a compelling read. In the beginning, we see the events as they play out from different characters' points of view. It seems strange at first, but it works in the end. Also, enjoyed the parts of the book devoted to the development of Sara and Will's relationship.
Another fantastic Will/Sara book. Having read all in this series (as well as all by Karin Slaughter), I'd have to say this is the best yet. I could not put this book down. Love the ending (no spoilers) and an looking forward to the next book! Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy. Our library will be purchasing and recommending this title!!
Started out strong, then lost me in the middle for a little bit, but then sucked me back in at the end. I guess the pacing just didn’t work for me but now that I’m done I can say I enjoyed it.
I really love Karin Slaughter and was super excited to read the newest book in the Will Trent series. The Last Widow finds Will and Sara dealing with a cult involved in domestic terrorism. I found it difficult to follow at first, as some of the time lines overlapped and repeated in the beginning. However, once I got past that and the action started to pick up, I couldn't put it down. I love Will and Sara and will eagerly await another book in the series after the last line in the epilogue!
This book is written in true Karin Slaughter style and continues on the Will Trent series in good fashion. We learn more about Sara and Will's backstories and how they relate to each other. I love all of Karin Slaughter's books and this one did not disappoint. I found myself staying up late at night just to finish it. It is truly a book that is hard to put down, because you want to know what happens next and whether or not Sara and Will will be reunited safely. Highly recommended!
Another great wonderful novel from Karin Slaughter! I enjoy the suspense and thrilling chases with action, fast driving, fast everything, It feels like it just down the street!! I know alot of the places Karin writes about in Georgia so it feels like home to me. But I love Will, , Sara and especially Amanda his boss, she is the best! Those crazy dogs they have, it all melts together perfectly. It can be said it's a stand alone book but I want to sit down and start them all over. I devour every book she writes and love to get one before it's published, its so awesome!! Highly recommend you do the same and start a super relationship where you can't stop reading for a minute!! Thank you!!!
The Last Widow by Karin Slaughter. Will's Back!!!! Fast paced exciting thriller of a mystery with a truly vile villain. Learned disturbing facts/history of cults and white supremacists from Sara's conversations with Van. Great to see Sara, Will and Faith working together again. Even Amanda less hard on Wilbur and acknowledged his strengths. And Finally no Angie!!!
Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.
Once again Slaughter keeps you on the edge of your seat as Will and Sara investigate a series of bombings at Emory University.. A total page-turner!.
I am a huge fan of Karin Slaughter's books, and I'm fairly obsessed with her Will Trent/Sara Linton series. So, to say I was excited to get an advance copy of her latest in this series is an understatement.
The Last Widow is a fast-paced, emotional thriller. In this latest installment, Will and Sara inadvertently find themselves in the middle of a cult with domestic terrorism ambitions.
Readers experience the story through the eyes of Will, Sara, and Faith, and their viewpoints really highlight the growth these characters are experiencing throughout the series. We see Faith becoming more comfortable with taking a leadership role in the GBI. We see Will opening up to Sara's family. And we see Sara confronting her lingering demons from her marriage with Jeffrey. All of this in the midst of a domestic terrorist crisis.
I loved the action, I loved the character growth, and I especially loved the last line of the epilogue. Slaughter does not disappoint with this one.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
First, I'm a big Karin Slaughter fan. Secondly, her characters Sara, Will, Amanda and Faith are such great characters that you feel like you already know them. But this book, wow. Hate spewing domestic terrorists? That was hard to read about even with my favorite characters leading the charge to put these guys away. Still, an excellent, fast paced read. 3.75 stars.
I love Karin Slaughter's books! This book was full of action and so much more and did not disappoint!
You get to see multiple perspectives of what is happening in the book, it is really insightful because everyone perceives stuff differently.
