This was an outstanding ending to the Harbinger series. I love all of the books Jeff Wheeler has produced so far but this one kept me reading straight through. I found the Harbinger series to be similar in feel to his previous series but I really fell in love with Sera and her strong character through this particular book. The trials and strength of character that are shown are amazing! Fantastic book and I'm looking forward to many more series from Jeff.
A beautiful ending to a beautiful story! Yet again Mr Wheeler, you had me in tears. Thank you so very much for creating this story and expanding the worlds you’ve created, Jeff!!! I have a feeling we’ll be seeing Cettie again and I’m really looking forward to it and to other books you have coming up!!
Without giving too much away, I want to let you all know that some favorite characters from previous books make an appearance in this one! Eeeekkk!!! This book is a must read!!!
I've been following this series since the beginning, and while it wasn't my favorite entry in the series, Broken Veil was a satisfying conclusion to the multitude of storylines in the Harbinger series. I really appreciate how Wheeler's worlds tie together. It was really beautiful seeing some familiar faces from his other stories. Wheeler writes brilliant characters. Their arcs move in a believable way. The resolutions to their stories were worthy of the five-book buildup. I look forward to seeing what's next from this author.
A great ending to a great series. It was entertaining, fast paced and it kept me hooked till the last page.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
Jeff Wheeler excels at world-building and character development and in his various related series has created some complex, layered, and engrossing plots. Despite the fantasy genre, the plots are those that we understand perfectly as human behavior, both positive and negative. People with good intentions make mistakes; people who crave power and dominance are willing to do violence in order to control others--real world problems set in make-believe worlds.
My favorite series is the Kingfountain series, but I've enjoyed the Harbinger series as well. In Broken Veil, the fifth Harbinger book, Wheeler wraps up the series in a tense and exciting finale.
Cettie of the Fells and Sera Fitzempress have evolved as they played their parts in the battles between Kingfountain and Harbinger. Their roles in this story may be finished, but because Wheeler keeps connections between all of his worlds, characters often appear in other books. One of my favorite Kingfountain characters (from a previous era) makes an appearance in Broken Veil.
If you enjoy thrilling, imaginative, and visual worlds try one of Jeff Wheeler's several series!

I love, love, love Jeff Wheeler's stories, and this one is no exception. Broken Veil is the grand finale of the Harbinger series, and very neatly ties together all the lose ends from the prior novels. There's plenty of action and suspense, two wonderful heroines saving their world, an excellent plot, well written characters to love and hate, and, if you've read any of Wheeler's prior works, a couple of visitors from other realms that will delight you. Many thanks to NetGalley and 47North for the e-arc. I highly recommend everything by Jeff Wheeler! 4.5 stars!
Once again an awesome read, Wheeler, brings this series to a great ending. With twists and turns at every turn, it was a quick and fun read. Beloved characters come into play and help the reader to understand how the magic system works and what helps with the two worlds.
Broken Veil is the completion of the Harbringer story and it does not disappoint. I do not want to give a lot of spoilers, but this completes the story of Cettie and Sera, and it has a lot more twists and turns than anticipated. It is jam packed with new details about the characters, the societies they live in, and the future of their world. I cannot wait for whatever the next series Jeff Wheeler will write, and whether they will connect with these characters as well.
Great ending to a great series. I couldn’t help but be a little emotional finishing this book. The journey of Sera and Cettie has been quite the whirlwind. Not only has there been a lot of ups and downs but a ton of mystery and intrigue. I thought the author wrapped up the series in a wonderful way.
Thank you to Jeff Wheeler and 47North for providing me with an advanced reading copy.
I have been so anxiously awaiting this book, and it didn't disappoint! I love all the tie in with the other series and worlds, the way it brought back past characters to let you know their fates, and the way it gives bits and pieces of answers to past questions just a little at a time. It tied up a bulk of the storylines quite nicely, but leaves me feeling as though it's not really the ending. Enough is left open ended that I can only assume that a future series will be finishing out the plot, possibly set into the future. I can't wait for the next series, whether it's a continuation of this world's plot or set in another.
I have been long awaiting this conclusion, and it did not disappoint! It was riveting and emotional! What a great series! It is one that will stay with me for a long time to come! I would recommend to anyone!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own
This was.. I am at a loss of words. I have loved this series since the beginning and getting to read Broken Veil? I almost cried. It was every bit of amazing as I thought it would be.
I loved the beginning of this series so I’m sorry to say that I was disappointed in this book. In his afterward Jeff Wheeler talked about looking for an ending to the series and I have to wonder if he was not sure about where it was going. I loved the Kingfountain series even when the ending was very different than I expected but this book does not feel as planned out. In my opinion far too much of the book is spent on characters in captivity. For the finale I wanted more action and more time with these characters at their best. We have spent so much time with them now that having them so limited was a letdown. There are also important cameos that are not well explained, which is a big deal when one of them has been so important. If you are a fan of the series you will want to read this conclusion but lower your expectations.
Once again, I have to say wow!!! I loved this book!! I think Jeff Wheeler ended this series with the best book so far. I cried and laughed with everyone of the characters. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story.
<b>5 Whole Stars</b> and I will give more if I could
I cannot tell you how beyond excited I was when I receive this advanced copy for this <b>awesome conclusion</b> of <b>Harbinger Series</b>.
First of all, I love the cover page so much and I would like to give major props to the art designer. It's very <b> impressive </b> and it tells you how <b>fantastic</b> and <b>magnificent</b> the <b>Sky Manors</b> that Jeff Wheeler created.
<center><i>"The veil within the universe had broken."</center></i>
In this finale, Cettie of the Fells and Empress Sera's characters evolved in so many ways I could count. From Sera's selfishness to a great ruler of her Kingdom and Cettie, who rose from poverty to an even wiser woman she had become.
I had goosies reading it from the very beginning till the end. It is very gripping that I read the book in one seating.

And then there are the characters we <b>Love to Hate</b>. And I have never hated before I have hated <b>Dolores Umbridge</b> and then there is this character that reminds me of <b>Ms. Trenchbull</b> from Matilda from book one.
<i>"Hate, above all, is the greatest scourge."</i>

And then this guy showed up from [book:The Queen's Poisoner|29103028] and then 2 more <B> Legends of the Past</b> showed up and something about the <b>"ole oak tree"</b>. Then the action begins and what a great epic finale it is!

And if you're a fan of the author, you will find there is a lot of <b>Easter Egg</b> from his previous books.
<b>Lastly, let's say goodbye to the following characters:</b>

<i>"It will be no greater miracle that brings us into another world to live forever with our dearest friends than that which has brought us into this one to live a lifetime with them."</I>
I am sure this is not the last time we will be hearing of Cettie and Sera. What a brilliant ending of this series. This is how you write a finale, y'all!
