Imagine carrying a secret so deep that you’ve spent your entire life hiding it. Now, imagine a newcomer to your neighborhood is determined to bring it to light.
Charlotte organizes the local book club, though the meetings are always held at Amy’s house. On this particular evening, a newcomer named Roux, who recently moved to the area, decides to invite herself to the gathering. While the group initially welcomes her with open arms, things take a turn when Roux takes control of the night. She’s got a plan — and it involves a game.
The game? "Never Have I Ever."
You’ve probably heard of it, right? The premise is simple, but with a group of moms harboring all kinds of secrets, it promises to reveal much more than anyone bargained for. And as it turns out, Amy’s secret is the most dangerous of them all, and Roux is intent on unearthing it. But the question is: why? What does Roux have to gain from exposing Amy’s past, and why is Amy the sole target of her fixation?
At first, the book moves at a slow pace, to the point where I almost considered giving up on it. But as I pushed through, the plot really started to unfold, and a series of unexpected twists kept me hooked. By the end, I was left genuinely surprised by the revelations!
Book clubs can be dangerous! Overall I enjoyed this book, there were a few plot holes here and there which was a little annoying however if you suspend disbelief and get into it then I think you will enjoy.
Thanks netgalley . fast-paced narrative and the intriguing characters. Jackson skillfully weaves a suspenseful story with plenty of twists and turns, keeping me hooked. The exploration of secrets and moral dilemmas made the book not only entertaining but also thought-provoking. Overall, it’s a compelling thriller that kept me turning the pages
Didn't have me hooked. It sounded great and had so much potential but I couldn't keep interested in it so did not finish.
Sadly this book was not for me. This is no bearing on the author, it’s just that I personally could not get into the book.
Full of twists and turns and the unexpected. How an accident as a youth can change the whole course of a life. Amy’s life is going well until that night of the book club meet. Everything that Amy has managed to achieved could come tumbling down if Roux gets her way.
Brilliant book which leaves you guessing
I really don't want to be rude, but I didn't like this at all. Well, there was one saving grace and that was the very last part between Amy, Roux and Ezra - that was a bit suspenseful for sure. The rest of it though felt so immature and a complete mismatch of words. I didn't see the point of Davis' character, and Charlotte just felt like a punching bag. It wasn't for me in the slightest which is a shame, as I really liked the premise. It just didn't deliver.
This had a lot of potential for me but unfortunately it fell a bit flat. It all felt very farfetched and unbelievable, even the ending disappointed me. Great writing style and characters but not my favourite sadly.
I didn't love this book as much as I wanted to but it was a somewhat fun read. It just took me a while to get into it and I wasn't attached to any characters. Finished it quickly though.
Omg......... this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. I found it full of twists and turns threw out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way threw I would defiantly recommend this book if you like a good book to keep you reading threw the night hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did
It's great to be in a position to recommend much more diverse books to our young people at school. Building the senior school library as a place where students actually come and find books that they want to read as opposed to books that teachers think they ought to read is an important responsibility and one we take really seriously.
Books like this are such a positive move as they will appeal to a broader set of readers than we are usually attracting. Dealing with modern issues in a clear and captivating way with a strong narrative voice and characters that the students can relate to is critical as we move forwards. This book is both an intelligent and compelling read that will hold even the most reluctant reader's attention and keep them turning the pages long into the night. It keeps the reader on their toes and ensures that you give it your full attention too. I found myself thinking about its characters and events even when I wasn't reading it and looking forward to snatching kore time with it and I hope that my students feel the same. An accessible, gripping and engrossing read that I can't recommend highly enough. Will absolutely be buying a copy for the library and heartily recommending it to both staff and students.
It took a short while to get into but I think if you push on it will be worth it.
The story had many twists and turns and after a few chapters it felt fast paced so I was able to finish this in a few days.
Deffo worth the read.
I enjoyed this author, i just decided to read as the title intrigued me.
Will b looking for some this author.
Enjoyed this book a lot. It took me a while to get into the first few chapters but I was hooked after that. It moved along at a nice pace and twisted a few times. Looking forward to reading more from the author!
I was really looking forward to reading this book but I was very disappointed, there were so many plot holes. The overall premise was good but it just didn't carry through.
An enjoyable - if rather silly - thriller which I found very readable, even though I didn't like most of the characters! The cat and mouse game between femme fatale Roux and seemingly perfect housewife Amy was a fun ride, and I liked the teenage Luca (about the only nice character in the novel!). A fun read.
Plot: ''It starts with a game at a book club one night. Never Have I Ever done something I shouldn't...''
A very satisfying read, You get that ominous feeling from very early on & it remains throughout the cat-and-mouse game that follows.
People: Multi-layered characters. Amy is feisty but likable and Roux is the perfect villain of the story.
Pace: Fast-paced read, I could turn the pages fast enough - I needed to know what happened!
Wow a real page turner. Absolutely loved this book and could not put this down. Some great little twists at the end that I did not see coming. Kept me on the edge of my seat.
Unfortunately for me this was a book I had heard quite a bit about on YouTube and I did not get around to finishing however I may get back to this one at some other time, I feel its only fair to give it a middle of the road rating as I didn't complete reading it.
Thankyou to NetGalley, Bloomsbury Publishing, Raven Books and the author, Joshilyn Jackson, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of Never Have I Ever in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion. Well. What can I say. I was extremely excited to read this story after reading an extract which had me well and truly hooked. I needed to see where the author was going to take me. I was definitely not disappointed.
The storyline was well written. The characters are interesting and very compelling. It keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. 3.5 stars.
Well worth a read
