While I do like her written I'm just not enjoying it like I use to .With that said I don't think she's the author for me any more, so as as right now I'm sad to say that I'm DNF her books
Ian is raising a young son along with running the ranch when he acquires an unexpected nanny in Katie.
Romance abounds in this tale starting the Grant brother's series.
Ian was desperate and needed a favor from the Mayor. He would agree to anything to make his son happy. So, helping the Mayor’s niece during a particularly rough period in her life was not an issue. However when he met Katie he swore he never should have made a promise that would cause him to feel an attraction he never thought possible. She fit seamlessly into his life but Katie is harboring a secret that may change everything. Great start to a new series.
I enjoyed "The Cowboy's Surprise Nanny", but I have to say that Ian was a bit of an a** in a large portion of the book. Although he never quite got over the death of his wife, I found him condescending at times, and downright mean to Katie when she was doing her job for his son Andy. I understand he was being overprotective of his son after losing his wife, but at times he was cruel to Katie when she was only trying to be there for Andy. It does have a HEA ending, and the reason we read romance stories. I love Leslie North books, and while this was a sweet story, it was just a bit of a miss for me. **I was gifted a copy of "The Cowboy's Surprise Nanny" and leave my honest opinion based on my reading** 3.25 Stars!
Cowboy and nannies oh my. I really like these types of books. One person caring for the welfare of the child and finding love along the way.
Ian Grant is a man on a mission. He goes to the mayor wanting to get his son entered into the Strawberry festival. Andy his son has many different food allergies and was in the hospital during the registration. Being a single parent is not what is thought would happen after he married his high school sweetheart. Now running the ranch he is working at making Andy his number one. The mayor though asks Ian for a favor as well. His niece has hit a rough patch and would like it if Ian could take her on as a nanny. He agrees. Katie Rylie had always wanted to cook and was on that track until the cookbook she was writing fell apart. Now looking at finding herself again she is at a ranch in Texas being a nanny. The good thing is she and Andy have bounded before Ian has come in from working. She already knows about his allergies and surprise that was what her cookbook was about. Wanting to fire her after he finds out some information about he does not when she comes clean. No, he waits to fire her after she has been there for a while and not only does Andy like her but so does Ian. Now she has made it big he is in the dog house once again with his son for the Strawberry festival was the one thing Katie was helping Andy with until Ian fired her. Will she come back for the festival? Will Ian make everything right? Read this wonderful story to find out. I really liked that this story dealt with children with food allergies and how the kitchen and items being used when cooking need to be different than others, along with the workspace. A lot of times people neglect that part and the author was very thorough.
This was a great read. I totally enjoyed Ian and Katie's story. Ian in a bind needs a favor from the Mayor, the Mayor in turns needs a favor from Ian. Ian agrees to help out Katie while she hides from the recent fiasco that has turned her life upside down. Katie is attracted to Ian and him vice-versa but he feels that he has too much going on in his life right now, especially with his son, Andy, to even act on those feelings. But as time moves on and Ian sees how much Katie is willing to do for Andy he is smitten. As the two grow in friendship, they act on the chemistry between them are able to help each other out. I enjoyed this family fun filled with warmth and emotions. 4 solid stars****
****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley*****
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first book in a new series. It's about Katie and Ian, but there wasn't much development between them. He seemed suspicious and wham suddenly they are having sex. I did like Katie and Andy's relationship. Not a bad read I rate this a 3.5.
Quick and easy read. I enjoyed the small town / life on the ranch setting.
The characters were a little harder to connect with. I enjoyed the first half more than the 2nd one. Once the romance escalated it felt rushed and forced (Ian's sexy comments ??? totally out of character and laughable).
All in all a pretty average romance. Very much forgettable.
Ian Grant is a widower with a 6-year old son, Andy. Ian is not used to asking for help but he made a promise to his sickly son and now he needs help fulfilling it. He goes to the mayor and ask for a favor. The mayor helps him out and in turn asks Ian for a favor. His niece Katie Rylie has some unwanted attention after making a terrible mistake and she needs a place where she can regroup. The mayor asks Ian to hire Kylie as his nanny until she can get her life back on track.
Ian is expecting the niece to be a teenager. But when he walks into his kitchen he finds a full fledge woman. Things soon heat up between them. But Ian's opinion regarding Kylie changes when he thinks she is just using his son to advance her career -- so he asks her to leave.
Will they iron out their differences?
I have read a few books by this author now and thoroughly enjoyed them so I was delighted to be able to get my hands on this book, the first in a new series featuring the Grant Brothers!
I thought that the book was fast paced and I found it very easy to read. I enjoyed the story and I thought that the book had a great flow to it. I found the characters all worked well together and I enjoyed their interaction, and getting to know them.
Four stars from me for this one, really looking forward to the next book in the series!
Cute story but where is the rest of it? The book felt like random episodes of the story. It lacked a flow that told the story. I felt we were shown drop in pieces. She holds back her whole internet life and he shuts her out when times get tough. But let's get physical? Seriously? Where is the transition to communication and understanding?
Ian is a rancher and father of a young boy. He promises his boy he can be in the Strawberry Festival but the deadline has come and gone. So he asks the mayor and the mayor agrees but he wants a favor in return. His niece is having some trouble and needs to get her life straightened out, so he wants Ian to let her live with them and be their cook and nanny. Katie won a chef competition and was going to do a cookbook until a scandal broke out. Now she’s helping a father and son try to find their way back to each other along with trying to put her life back together again.
Ian is controlling and grumpy while Katie is sweet. He wants things his way and others to do it his way too even if it means hurting the woman he has fallen for. Sexy and romantic. Short with a cute little boy.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
This is a quick read, more of a novella. The ARC I received (Thank you author and NetGalley) ended around 86%. The rest of the book contains previews, author links, etc. I like novellas.
I enjoyed the story concept - a widower father with a boy who has severe food allergies. Along comes Katie, a chef turned nanny.
Since things moved along so quickly, the story never grabbed me. I didn’t feel it. It may have worked better for me if there was more build up. I needed to get to know and care for the characters first. The story also moved into sex scenes before I liked Ian. He needed to be more likable.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I liked Ian and Katie and Andy was adorable. Not surprising that Ian starts out kind of gruff and surly when he is working to get back into his life after his wife died of cancer. He even has not been there for his son and realizes that he needs to make changes.
Katie is trying to recover from a major mistake in her life and at times,I can kind of see why Ian is annoyed when she cares so much for her social media account and doesn't work at "real life' but he also is wrong when he pushes her into what he thinks is the right path.
Fortunately, they work out their problems and have a HEA. The ending did seem kind of rushed as they worked things out and were back together in less than a chapter. I am looking forward to the next brother's book!
THE COWBOY'S SURPRISE NANNY by Leslie North is a sweet small town romance, with a single dad and nanny! Ian and Andy have been struggling since Lonnie died and now their housekeeper has retired. Lucky for them the Mayor's granddaughter is coming to town! This fast moving story is a very good read!
This book was so good. Ian, Katie and Andy made the cutest family. Katie took Andy in her heart as if he was her own, but never tried to push to take the place of Lonnie after she died. I highly recommend this book ,especially if you are a Leslie North fan.
Leslie North continues to captivate her readers with her genuine and authentic storylines, a wealth of interesting and likeable characters, and plots that flow with relative ease and keep your attention throughout the entire book.
The Cowboy's Surprise Nanny definitely provides readers with all the above and was a wonderful, heartfelt and feel good romance. I’m looking forward the whatever comes next from this talented author.
This was a quick afternoon read with some really likable characters and a cover that is easy on the eyes! 😘
There wasn’t a lot of time for character development but this is what kept this story short and sweet.
I really enjoyed the relationship with the nanny and the Cowboys son. They needed each other and it was obvious in how quickly their relationship blossomed.
This was a great start to the series! Looking forward to the next book!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC Of the Cowboys Surprise Nanny.
An internet chef run into scandal about plagiarizing recipes and ends up working as a nanny to a little boy with terrible food allergies and a lonely widowed father. There aren’t a lot of surprises in this book, despite the name, but it is a sweet and enjoyable tale of love and people brought together through love and food.
