Beautifully photographed book of lovely recipes!!!
The recipes are accompanied by short stories and descriptions of gathering ingredients and creating delicious food.
As an expert cook, I find that these recipes are easy and look like they would all work very well.
I really enjoyed looking at the photos... it is a feast for the eyes as well as the stomach!
I received a free advance excerpt (not entire book) as a professional reviewer for NetGalley.
I only received 16 pages as a sample. I find it difficult to review it, what I saw was beautiful, hoping the rest of the book follows the same guidelines. The stories are engaging and the recipes, simple but well balanced.
Hope's Table - Everyday Recipes from a Mennonite Kitchen by Hope Helmuth is a cookbook coming out September 10, 2019. At first glance, it's a beautiful cover and I was excited to dive into in. Unfortunately, the ARC I received was a preview sampler so only three recipes in it out of the 150 that the book states. From what I was able to review of the sampler, the cookbook looks well made with gorgeous photos, clear and concise recipes. I would definitely buy it for myself. I will have to wait until September though to see once it's released if the entire cookbook is as I hope it to be. I will review it on my blog once it is released as I don't feel I saw enough to give a full review.
While I was only able to see a few pages from various part of this book, the few recipes in there look tasty and left me wanting more. From cinnamon rolls with caramel icing to chocolate cake, these are the recipes of my grandmothers who were raised in Pennsylvania Dutch and the Moravian Mennonite communities.
Looking forward to seeing the full selection of 150 recipes when the book is released.
I didn't realize this was only an excerpt. I do not feel like I have a sufficient grasp on the book to do a review on my blog but from what I see it is definitely a book I would like. The recipes are made from whole food ingredients, and most of them look really delicious. I would have loved to see the entire book. Hope's Table seems like a book I would really like, I would have loved to read a little more of her story as well.
Thank you #NetGalley and #HeraldPress for this ARC for #HopesTable
What a beautiful book! The ARC provided only a few pages to review however it was enough to get a feel for how the book was written and presented.
The blog-like stories seem to present a wholesome, country-life feel to the reader. The intent is to let the reader in to the author's world and I can imagine with further pages available, it would do just that.
The pictures are BEAUTIFUL and make me nostalgic for my grandmother's kitchen table. There are a couple of recipes provided in this ARC and I'm happy to say that all of the ingredients are normal, everyday things you can find in the store around the corner. No need to search online or drive to a specialty store. For those wanting to keep a small carbon footprint, these recipes will support that way of living.
The recipes themselves are easy to follow and have helpful tips and notes along the way. Very well written. I could see many of these recipes becoming family recipes handed down to future generations.
I'll be looking for this book, once it is published, to see what additional recipes have been included!
I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. Hope's table is an excellent new cookbook with lots of great recipes that are easy to follow and use. I can't wait to try some of the recipes.
Good book for beginners and intermediate cooks. A lot of tips and techniques given. I tried few recipes and they were fine. I wish they had more flavors, but that is just me. Good photos. Recommended read if you want to try something different. I liked it.
Hope's Table is an advance preview of a cookbook featuring home cooking recipes by lifestyle blogger Hope Helmuth. Expected release date is 10th Sept 2019 from Herald Press. It will be 320 pages and available in ebook and paperback formats.
The preview eARC I received includes three recipes from the cookbook: cinnamon rolls with caramel icing, crunchy broccoli salad with a mayonnaise dressing, and a chocolate cake. The recipes in the preview all make good family sized portions, for example the cinnamon roll recipe yields 3-4 dozen rolls. All of the recipes are hearty home cooking. We tried the broccoli recipe and it was a hit (but I adjusted the dressing recipe a little bit and decreased the portion ingredients because we are a small family).
The included photography is very clear and well done and illustrates the food and lifestyle very well.
I will be very interested to see more of the book closer to release date. It's appealing and hearty farmhouse cooking.
Four stars.
I enjoyed the few pages & delicious looking recipes.Hope to read the entire cookbook at some point.#netgalley #heraldpress.
I find it hard to review this book when you are offered 2-3 recipes. I think I would like this book but given what was offered I can’t be sure
