'The Smurfs #24: The Smurf Reporter' by Peyo is a graphic novel about a village of famous blue characters.
This time around, one of the Smurfs gets the idea that the old way of getting news isn't working. This leads to the creation of a printing press and finding gossip to fill the pages which leads to comedy and bad feelings. This also leads to a plot by Gargamel to capture the Smurfs.
It's fun and also kind of a send up of news and news culture. The satire is pretty strong here and makes for a good story.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from papercutz and NetGalley. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
This is s lovely book that I really enjoyed reading to and with my class and also with my children at home. It’s funny and smart and very easy to follow. We based many creative writing, art, drama and music lessons on this text. My children demanded that it be read to them again and again. It was truly enjoyable, a children’s book I’d highly recommend.

My youngest son has enjoyed the Smurfs graphic novels since he was 10. Yes, the word "smurf" is used a lot and it does get old (from my adult perspective), but it doesn't bother my son and he enjoys their silliness.
While the plot's not deep, the story does get readers thinking about what they say about people & to whom they say it. It subtly reinforces what my son has been learning about gossip and detraction while amusing him - can't complain about that.
The Smurfs #24 is a cute book and I have loved the Smurfs since I was a child. This is a great book and people should read this book.
The Smurf Reporter brought so many of my childhood memories back, I adored this! After all these years, the Smurfs are still a staple when it comes to children comics, as much as Tintin or Asterix. Always fab quality and fun. A great gift for any kid!
I started to read the Smurfs when I was a child and kept on loving them till today.
I was excited to read a new adventure and, as I'm a fan, my rate couldn't be less than 5*.
There's always a place in my heart for them and I'm always happy to read their adventures.
Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
