This book unfortunately fell to the bottom of my TBR list and I instantly regretted not picking it up sooner. I call myself one who can generally read where a book is going but when I tell you this book kept be gasping through the end I am not exaggerating. I wish I could read it all over again for the first time.
This was a real edge of your seat thriller, with so many twists and turns, you wont know which way is up! Fantastic and gripping read!
The Dinner Party by RJ Parker was not what I was expecting at all. While I did enjoy it I found it very hard to believe the characters and the plot. The ending was a mess and completely out there. I was disappointed as I was expecting it to be better than it was. None of the characters were at all likeable and I found it hard to believe that any of it could be happening.
Did not finish -- was painfully boring. The plot was very boring, ultimately and din't keep me hooked
I have thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster this book put me on. I liked the characters and the development of the story. I would recommend this to everyone.
Underlying Menace..,
Just a dinner party. Eight friends - but also eight secrets and maybe a murderer. The evening was to be a pleasant one, a civilised one. An evening for good food, wine and conversation but then the game begins. A well drawn, although mainly unlikeable, cast of characters combines with a sense of underlying menace to create a twisting and suspenseful read. Would you play this game?
Eight people get together, but the next morning, one of them was dead. The others were left to fear who among them was up to no good. Great fantastic, okay execution.
I was completely gripped by this story and was impressed with the writing quality. I was entertained throughout the story and would not hesitate to recommend this book.
Don’t even try to figure it out. You will ge glad at yourself hahaha I loved this book. I am even more excited now that there is a movie .
Great thriller which I could not put down. Brilliant characters, and twists and turns. Highly recommend to others!
Loved loved loved! I felt like I made friends with the characters in this story. Will be searching for more books by this talented author.
DNF’d this one. I love the premise of this book. The Who Dun It type books interest me. But I just couldn’t for the life of me connect or sympathize with any of the characters, even 75% into the book. I needed someone to root for but sadly that didn’t happen.
This is a suspense / murder book about a group of friends who, while enjoying their night, play a game allowing them to write down one secret, burn it, and automatically be forgiven for whatever they wrote down. They all participate and thus begins a crazy spiral of murder, deceit, and actions that make you question every single character.
This was a fairly quick & easy read. I enjoyed the storyline but felt like it fell short of the potential it had. There was definitely suspense and murder and the scenes were well written enough to imagine exactly what was happening.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The dinner party was a wild ride. Friends get together one night to share drinks and to attempt to get rid of their secrets. The secrets don’t stay away long when one of their friends ends up dead, and then another, and another. What is going on? Who is killing all of these people, was it something that happened over that fateful dinner party? I was not expecting the twists that this book had in store, but it was a blast.
Thanks to Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review. Sorry for the delay but I had personal issues.
Dinner Party was definitely suspenful and interesting book. I would have given it four but some of the things that went on were unbelievable. And the ending for me it needed more.
I was able to read this book thanks to NetGalley. It was a very entertaining and fast paced thriller. I enjoyed the story and characters and recommend it to all thriller lovers. I will be looking out for more books from this author in the future. Thanks again to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
Lots of action and secrets, twists and turns. The writing was okay a little too descriptive for me but Even when the book is long it reads fast. Just when You know something is going to happen then something else comes out. My favorite character was Ted and his wife was lindo of annoying. Entertaining thriller, nothing new but enjoyable
I had really high hopes for the plot and initially, I was hooked. I felt that the plot lost its way quite early on and didn't recover, before getting a bit ludicrous. I did enjoy the whodunnit aspect and that kept me reading. The ending was quite OTT and didn't quite work for me. I would read more from the author in the future but this was one was a tad disappointing.
I was really intrigued when I saw this book, and once I started reading, I was hooked. There were just so many things that were unpredictable that you didn't necessarily know what was going to happen until it did. I haven't been able to find books like this in a while, so it's refreshing to know that these books are still out there. The Dinner Party is a story involving a whodunit mystery after a group of friends has a dinner party and secrets are at risk of being shared throughout.
What a fantastic read! I only wish I had read it sooner. Full of twists and turns and kept me guessing up until the end. Definitely got me thinking whodunnit right from the beginning up until the climax of the story. A definite new recommendation for my coworkers and customers alike!
