Camilla Brown has distanced herself away from family and friends after the death of her husband. Everyone blames her. Shes rarely seen in public, her life circles around her old high school friend Valerie Hutchens, who shows her personal life on-line she’s as an influencer. Now for Camilla, it’s an ...an absolute obsession to follow Valerie’s every online move.
As Camilla tunes in on her nightly obsession of Valerie. Valerie's begins her broadcast Camilla is shocked she sees a different side of Valerie .
Valerie informs her followers she believes she’s being stalked. And Camilla can see a shadow in the background of the video feed! And then Valerie goes missing… this was an interesting premise and it was a quick read!
A crazy novel where I wasn’t sure what was going on most of the time but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment at all. A fun, easy read that kept me hooked throughout.
When seclusion leads to obsession and it all just goes too far...
Not everything or everyone is as they seem and social media is the most effective tool yet to fool anyone. A bit bonkers but an interesting premise that makes it easy to read.
Could not get into this at all - it is all over the place, like a disjointed movie shot all out of sequence
Reading thrillers is usually my favorite pass time, and by reading this book's blurb, I knew it would be a killer read! I kept on thinking I've figured out who the bad guy was, just to be surprised by the next page! I enjoyed the book and will read more by this author in future.
hmmm. . .I've been trying to decide what didn't work for me on this one. I liked the dark beginning (that first chapter!) and the idea of a darker story. The car wreck and the small town blaming Camilla for her husband's death and her struggle to stay sober was a good start as we learn of Camilla's recovery and her new life now, without her husband.
I think there could have been more with Valerie. About how easy it is to follow someone who is broadcasting their location every few days, giving daily videos and check ins. I liked the sinister feel of the broadcasts when there were shadows in the dark and seedy hotels. I also liked how Camilla found solace at someone else's life, watching from a distance but feeling the connection with the outside world.
But somewhere along the way, this story lost me. The first few chapters were a different feel and a different tone. I flipped back more than once to make sure it didn't say a different charact or POV. I think I wanted more build up. I didn't love the ending but I like that it stayed with the darker theme. Wish I'd loved this one.
A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
Heartbreaking and heartbroken. Heartbreaking because I could not imagine losing my husband. I feel like I would react in the same way…shut myself out to the world, stay behind a monitor, possibly become obsessed with somebody on social media(as if following someone from high school was t enough) Of course tho, in the midst of that, finding someone hidden in the background, and watching the girl disappear. Nuts! It was crazy. I like the writing of this book. The plot was insane. Now I’m heartbroken. Because the ending of the book disappointed.
sadly, before i could download this title, netgalley took it off their catalog. that means i can’t review this one. HOWEVER, i will be checking in with my library to see if i can get a copy and review it that way
A good plot which kept me interested but sadly I thought the plot had a few holes in it and it could have been better - that is the reason I have only given it 3 stars. I would however like to ready more by this author as I like the way she writes.
Like, follow, kill is a great book, i would recommend. The plot of the storyline keeps you intrigued and guessing, there is some twists that i thought i knew the outcome of them would be but turned out i was wrong with my guessing. Very suspenseful and twists and turns for suspense readers like myself. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend to fellow book readers, friends and family. 4*
Sadly, there were a few plot holes in this book that only someone who lived in my area(Kentucky) and knew a lot about the areas mentioned in the book would know. This being said, I tried my level best to finish it but it honestly just pulled me out.
Great read! Looking forward to reading more by this author! I highly recommend this book and author to all!
DNF. Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for this early copy! I decided to not keep reading this one, it was not for me. Thanks!
The story was convoluted and silly. I disliked the characters and found the storyline lacking in development. A miss for me.
A very interesting plot and one that kept me gripped throughout. Some neat twists towards the end and a really good one at the very end. I'll definitely look out for more from the author!
This author never fails to keep me on my toes! I have loved every book thus far from her and this one is right up there with the rest of them! I can never predict which way the story will go, and that makes the story so good!
Camilla is badly scarred after being involved in a car accident that killed her husband. Because she can’t stand the stares, not to mention, she feels responsible, she locks herself away from everyone. But there is a whole other world out there—the internet. And she begins to follow one of her old school friends. Hey, it’s almost like a real friendship, right? One day, she notices something in one of her friend’s videos. Now Valerie, her “friend” seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. What is a girl to do? How can she help? This book is filled with suspense. It is somewhat of a slow build up until it’s not. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and the ending was definitely worth the read. You will not be disappointed. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book
I really enjoyed reading this, the plot was something that I hadn't seen in other novels of this type. It was suspenseful and creepy. The characters were great and I really enjoyed going on this journey.
This is one intense, twisted, dark, addictive, insane, jaw-dropping novel! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Compulsive, gripping and horrifying! Will have you on the edge of your seat and gasping with shock!
This book is nuts! Camilla is obsessed with her old friend Valerie Hutchens. She checks her social media daily and honestly that part alone is kind of crazy, but then Valerie goes missing. Camilla takes it upon herself to look into it and you will just have to read it to find out what happens.
