These samplers are my favorite things on Netgalley because you get a glimpse of so many exciting new releases you may have not heard of otherwise. This installment is no different. I'm so excited to get started on my fall TBR.

When I see the newest Buzz Book being offered, I get immensely excited! What you'll gain from reading this: a larger to-be-read list!!! I have added with excitement and great anticipation.

It was the first time I downloaded the Buzz Books and I found it really interesting. Among the books available as extracts I really liked Coral by Sara Ella! Which I hope I will read soon. From now on I will download every possible time the buzz books!

LEGACY AND THE QUEEN by Annie Matthew & Kobe Bryant

A Tennis fantasy!! Not only that, but a tennis fantasy co-written by one of the most successful and well-known sportspeople of my generation. This is the story of twelve-year-old Nova, her desire to compete in a prestigious tennis tournament and capture the attention of the Queen. I really enjoyed this extract, I didn't think I'd like it at all but I was hooked by a likeable main character and a good story.



THE LAST TRUE POETS OF THE SEA by Julia Drake
published October 1st
Inspired by Twelfth Night, this is a tale about a young woman trying to locate the shipwreck that brought her and her brother to the town their great-great-great-grandmother founded. I really, really loved this excerpt, I would definitely read this in its entirety.



CORAL by Sara Ella
published November 12th
Coral is a sixteen-year-old mermaid. She fears that she has been afflicted by the human-spread "Disease" - causing her to feel emotions, unlike her merfolk. When her world collides with seventeen-year-old Brooke, who lives on the surface, everything changes. I loved the writing in this one and really connected with Coral from the start. I would read this one in full.



I'M NOT DYING WITH YOU TONIGHT by Kimberly Jones & Gilly Segal
published August 6th
Lena and Campbell are from different backgrounds. When they are thrown together one night after chaos erupts at a football game, they need to figure out how to help each other. This excerpt was sharp, witty and engaging - another one to add to my ever-growing TBR pile.



DEAR HAITI, LOVE ALAINE by Maika Moulite & Maritza Moulite
published September 3rd
Following "the incident", seventeen-year-old Alaine finds herself shipped off to Haiti to participate in a Summer project. While she's there, she gets to explore her family's history for the first time. I had heard about this book before, and was granted access to an ARC, so I'm really looking forward to it - it's an epistolary novel (told through letters/e-mails and other forms of communication) which I love.



HARVEY COMES HOME by Colleen Nelson, Illustrations by Tara Anderson
published September 19th
A runaway West Highland Terrier named Harvey inspires many different people, including a young volunteer at a retirement home and a bitter resident struggling to cope with memory loss. I always feel like someone will slap me if I say I'm not keen on books featuring inspirational animals, but they're just not something I enjoy - clearly I have no soul because this sounds lovely, and people seem to be very excited about it going by Goodreads, it's just not for me.



SCARS LIKE WINGS by Erin Stewart
published October 1st
When Ava Lee survived a fire, she lost her family and home, and suffered horrific facial injuries. Now it's time to get back into some kind of normal routine, but she needs to figure out where she belongs in the world and how to cope with her losses. This is recommended for fans of Girl in Pieces which unfortunately I didn't enjoy. However, the writing style in this is exactly the kind of stuff that appeals to me - Ava is witty, snappy and she's really likeable from the get go. I care about her story and I would like to read it in full.



HOME GIRL by Alex Wheatle
available now, published in the US September 3rd
From a Children's Book Award winner comes the story of Naomi, a child who has grown up fast in the UK foster care system. Straight away I'm reminded of My Name is Leon by Kit de Waal, which almost broke me (totally worth it). I immediately loved Naomi and her spirited personality, and I want to read more, so I've just requested this from my local library.

Esta disponible solo en ingles, pero si mas o menos manejan el idioma, y como es un adelanto, se puede leer perfectamente. Se vienen cosas muy interesantes, me encontré con sorpresas. No desaprovechen la oportunidad, hay libros muy interesantes, y creo que todos podemos encontrar al menos uno que nos guste. Ademas brinda la oportunidad de poder explorar libros de otras categorías que tal vez no leemos habitualmente. Como dije, es una gran oportunidad tener disponibles estos adelantos de las novedades de libros.

Helpful for finding new titles to read, this guide is complete with links and short descriptions. Only downside is that you can only open it on kindle or Adobe Digital Editions.

This was a great way to get to know upcoming novels. There were a few that I hadn't heard of before. My most anticipated read is definitely Coral. Let's just hope Fall gets here soon.

Buzz Books is a great way to see what is coming out the following seasons. I love reading the excerpts and planning on which books to get the full ARC's for. Love it!

I'm not going to lie, I was a little bit disappointed in this edition. There wasn't a lot that sparked my interest in this volume. Usually I find at least one or two great new reads, but alas this time I did not. I know that there will be great books available this fall now to do more research and find them.

I am not really a fan of YA books, but that is why I like these samplers. After reading the samples, I am actually looking forward to a few YA books. From the samples I read, I am most looking forward to The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake. I am also might read I’m Not Dying With You Tonight by Filly Segal and Kimberly Jones, and Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite.

Legacy and the Queen by Annie Matthew and Kobe Bryant - DNF'd this one. I just couldn't get into it.

The Last True Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake - 5 stars. This reminded me of a Jenn Bennett book and I cannot wait to read it. I hadn't heard of it up to this point. Added to my TBR

Coral by Sara Ella - 5 stars. A reimagining of The Little Mermaid. I think I may have a billion of these types of books on my TBR, but I haven't gotten around to reading one yet. This will definitely be the first on the list. It had a really cool twist to the lore and I am so intrigued. Added to my TBR

I'm Not Dying with You Tonight by Kimberly Jones and Gilly Segal - 3 stars. This is supposed to be in the same thread as The Hate U Give, Dear Martin, etc. I am trying to reserve my judgment for more of the story, but what I'm read, I'm not sure how much I like the MCs. Already on my TBR.

Dear Haiti, Love Alaine by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite - 5 stars. I really enjoyed this one and I am looking forward to learning more about Haitian culture. Added to my TBR

Harvey Comes Home by Connie Nelson - 3 stars. I think this one is going to be too hard to read. The first chapter opened with the dog's perspective and I wanted to cry. Apparently, it also follows a boy who is volunteering at a retirement home with a patient with memory loss. All stuff that hits a little too close to home for me. It's a middle grade novel and seems well written.

Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart - 5 stars. This story follows a teenager girl who lost her parents and cousin in a fire that also burned 60% of her body. I was hooked from the get-go and cannot wait to get my hands on this. Added to my TBR

Home Girl by Alex Wheatle - 1 star. I don't think I have ever hated a MC so quickly ever. I'm sure this story of a girl in the foster system is eye-opening and raw, but I couldn't muster up an ounce of sympathy.

Overall, I felt this volume of Buzz Books was really short compared to ones in the past and more of the books were misses for me.

I enjoyed being able to read excerpts from hot upcoming books. This definitely makes me look forward to these and many other amazing novels that will be coming out within the next few months. The variety of these books is wonderful.

I always get so excited over the new editions of Buzz Books. I read them as soon as they come out, and some how I managed to forget to review the newest editions, even though I'm SO excited about some of the upcoming books. While all of the upcoming books sound incredible, these are the ones that stuck out the most to me.


Coral feels like a perfect 2019 YA novel. I mean, it has everything. Mermaids and education about mental health? Yes please! Such a winning combo! Not to mention that first sentence!!! "Her soul was bleeding". I can hardly wait to get my hands on a copy.

I'm Not Dying With You Tonight - Ok, I've been seeing this one all over the internet. This book looks incredible. The writing style is fabulous, it immediately pulled me in and made me want to know more. PLUS I'm a sucker for alternating view points. I always feel like I get a little bit more from any novel that I get to see the story through more than just one set of eyes. This novel feels all to real, as it features teenagers that are running for their lives after some sort of violence strikes (unfortunately the preview didn't tell me what kind of violence, and I'm DYING TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!!!!).

Last but not least, Scars Like Wings sounds incredible. I love that rather than telling a story in which tragedy strikes, this is the story of recovering and healing and learning to live AFTER the tragedy. This book promises to not only be VERY emotional, but sassy (I love the voice of this narrator- SUCH A SASS!!), and (hopefully) inspiring.

Pretty good selection of new titles to keep an eye out for in the Fall/Winter. I like the excerpts, and the ability to request some of the titles right away. I think the Buzz Books does a great job of capturing a wide variety of upcoming titles. I look forward to these each quarter.

What a fabulously delicious book. This book has a fantastic story line, excellent characters and is just unputdownable. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and I enjoyed it immensely.

This is a fun, great way to preview upcoming books - a short piece or so of each anticipated book is shared. My first Young Adult Buzz Books as I generally am not a big fan of YA. But in the last year, I’ve read a couple that have been really good, so decided to check out this compilation. A nice variety and two that sound interesting are The Last Two Poets of the Sea by Julia Drake and Harvey Comes Home by Colleen Nelson. I appreciated the opportunity to sample.
