Naughty Stranger is the first in a new series by Stacey Kennedy, and I was thrilled to get my hands on it. Romantic suspense in a small town? Yes, please!
Honestly the beginning was a bit slow for me, but once it got rolling, I truly enjoyed it. Boone and Peyton complemented each other so well, and their friendship and romance developed in such a smooth way.
I also love when there are close-knit friendships like there is between both the girls and the guys in this book, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming books in the series where the friends will get their HEA.

Start to finish, I really enjoyed this story. Boone and Peyton are both loveable characters who have a lot of stuff they have had to overcome to get to where they are now.
Boone is divorced after being betrayed and Peyton is looking for a fresh start after the death of her husband. What starts off as a friends with benefits sort of relationship quickly becomes more .
I definitely recommend this story.
Let's get one thing straight: Kennedy knows how to capture your interest from the first line. She has not disappoint. My reading enjoyment rises to the Nth degree when you can hook me with the first chapter. Naughty Stranger gives you a sexy edge of your seat mystery.
Peyton is smart, beautiful and the new girl in town. Boone Knight is the local detective who is trying to solve a murder in a town where such crimes are very rare. He believes this crime is tied to Peyton's past. Peyton is starting a new life and putting her heartbreak past behind her. However, mysterious Peyton believes its just a random crime. Boone believes differently and vows to protect Peyton. The sexy hero becomes Peyton's one time lover to full time protector.
Are you looking to start a new series? Try the Dangerous Love series. A steamy and thrilling love story wrapped in suspense and danger. Honestly, if you are not reading Stacey Kennedy, you NEED to jump on board.
Peyton moves from Seattle to a little town in Maine to start over after losing her husband. Boone is a detective in this little town and they meet and kiss her first day there. Fast forward a month or so of Peyton ignoring Boone but becoming fast friends with his sister, they are suddenly thrown together again because of a murder. What starts as mutual attraction and keeping things casual, turns to so much more as Boone tries to solve a murder and keep Peyton safe.
I really wasn't sure about this one at first, but I ended up really enjoying it. I was crazy about Boone, loved Peyton, and most of the secondary characters. Although I swear at times I was thinking, "these people are a little too perfect." Everyone was looking for some secret in regards to Peyton and there was not a flaw in her past. Like, never.
Anyway, once I really got into this one I didn't want to put it down. I can't say that the suspense part was the best because I was about 99% sure "whodunnit" very early in the novel. But other than that, this was a steamy and romantic read.
I must say, this book was pretty darn good. I read some of the reviews in advance and saw that most people loved it, so I went in with high expectations. I love a good romantic suspense and even though this one had a lot of bad things happening, I still enjoyed having that touch of humor and a whole lot of sexy to go with it - it made for a well-rounded contemporary romantic suspense.
Peyton is a new resident of sleepy town Stoney Creek, Maine - the opposite of her native Seattle. She fled to Peyton a year after her husband died and is looking to start over in the one place she last remembered being happy. She just wants to be where no one knows her or her story. So she spontaneously buys a lingerie shop next to a bar and a cabin.
Boone is a detective with the local police and his sister owns that bar next to the lingerie shop. One evening he's having a drink and spots the new woman in town sitting nearby and must get to know her more. Let's just say that things between them heat up VERY quickly. Yes, it was crazy, but man, it was hot. There's no denying the attraction and chemistry these two have.
But then they barely see each other after that night for a month, until tragedy strikes again and someone is murdered in Peyton's store. Boone is determined to protect Peyton and not let something happen to her until they find who did it. Peyton had been keeping Boone at a distance before then, not wanting to start anything new and Boone had his own heartbreak and keeps women at a distance. But as they begin to spend more time together afterwards, they grow closer and allow their feelings to also grow.
I really enjoyed watching them get to know one another more. I really wish Peyton had been more forthcoming with information on her past life since it may have saved a life. I honestly figured out who the person responsible for the murder was pretty early on in the book - it was a bit too obvious. I guess for that part alone, I have to deduct a star. Yes, I loved the suspense and how long we had to wait to confirm who the culprit was, but I just wish it wasn't so easy to solve.
The secondary characters in this book were awesome and I really look forward to more from this series. They helped to lighten the mood when things were getting tense and scary there for Peyton and Boone.
Overall, a wonderful start to this series. This is only the second book I've read by Stacey Kennedy, but it's certainly one that makes me want to read more.
Naughty Stranger by Stacey Kennedy
Dangerous Love #1
Sometimes the perfect book comes my way just when I need it and today there could not have been a better book for me to read. I fell in love with the characters, supporting characters and town as they came together to welcome Peyton Kerr and then support and protect her when bad things began to happen. The dynamics between Peyton and Boone Knight sizzled and their chemistry was instantaneous and undeniable. They were perfect together and reading their story made me happy...in spite of all that happened to make it at times rather suspenseful.
Peyton was someone I could see myself being once in my life. I have been an RN and young and in love. I have not experienced the heartbreak that Peyton did but can empathize. And Boone...talk about a heartthrob and perfect book boyfriend! I loved that they truly saw and got to know one another, shared and cared and all the rest. I enjoyed the mystery of who was out to kill people and how the police followed the clues. I loved meeting Asher and Rhett – Boone’s friends and colleagues on the police force. Kinsley and Remy were great girl friends for Peyton and always there for her.
I think one thing that came through to me in this book is that we really should make the most of every moment we have because that is all any of us are sure of. Live and love and experience life even when it is dark because even in the dark there is usually a bit of light.
Did I enjoy this book? Definitely!
Would I like to read more in this series? I can’t wait!
Thank you to NetGalley and Hachette-Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
This was a fun read. The plot was predictable and it dragged sometimes, many scenes felt useless and a but boring. I am the type of person who enjoys a mystery that is hard to solve in stories, smd I predicted this one since the character appeared. Other than that, the characters where dimensional and the writing was good. It touched on topics like loss wnd grief beautifully and carefully, showing the reasons behindnthe character’s difficulties. I liked the fact that Peyton had a languerie shop, it was an original detail. I liked Boone as a love interest but I dislike his name a lot,
If you like romance and easyxto-solve mysteries, you’ll love this book!
You can never go wrong with a Stacey Kennedy book. Her writing is perfection and the characters stories are so well written.
In Naughty Stranger, we meet Boone (holy hotness) and Peyton. Boone is an amazing detective, but due to past experiences he doesn’t trust his instincts anymore. Peyton is dealing with so much, plus she has just opened up her business when everything starts happening.
Detective Boone Knight knows something doesn’t feel right about what’s going on, but is it his growing feelings for Peyton or should he trust his gut again? My heart broke for Peyton and everything that she had to face, but she is a strong woman and I loved seeing her happy.
Can’t wait to get Asher and Remy’s book next and then we get Rhett and Kinsley’s book. I love the beginning of this new series from Stacey Kennedy and urge everyone to grab it as soon as it is released.
I couldn't get enough of Naughty Stranger. I love Peyton and Boone together. They are so hot. New to town Peyton didn't realize how much trouble she would bring in to her new town while trying to move on from the death of her husband. All Peyton wanted was a fresh start and didn't realize the danger that followed. Boone wasn't looking for forever again after his ex's betrayl. But once Peyton enters the picture all the rules are thrown out the window. I love the suspence in this one. Watching Boone tyr and solve the case of who is after Peyton will keep you glued to the pages. You feel the love between these two grow throughout the read. Naughty Stranger is a fantastic keep you on your toes read. I really didn't want to put this one down. I can't wait for more of this series.
I love a bit of romance and suspense in a small town setting; exactly what’s on the menu for the first in Stacey Kennedy’s Dangerous Love series, and bringing the sexy is Stoney Creek’s resident Detective, Boone Knight and the town’s newest resident, lingerie aficionado, Peyton Kerr.
“I want you to lose your goddamn mind like I’ve been losing mine from wanting you.”
This is a series I’m pretty sure I’m going to enjoy hugely with a likeable bunch of characters, strong personalities, lifelong friendships, histories, and in Boone and Peyton’s case, painful pasts that have led them both to where they are in life now. Yet their story isn’t heavy, is low on angst, high on romance and the suspense—although not entirely unpredictable—keeps you on your toes throughout.
“There were always good times in the dark moments.”
I loved Boone and Peyton together—there’s no games, their romance follows a natural path and they don’t scrimp on the steamy moments as they fall deeper whilst danger keeps rearing its head. And with a teaser chapter for Remy and Asher’s story included, I’m ready and waiting to see what Wicked Sinner brings later this year.
Perfect mix of passion chemistry and suspense! I’m new to this author and loved every moment of the story!!! The second chance romance and suspense was perfect in every way!
Naughty Stranger is a fun romance with a touch of sadness and a twist of murder mystery.
Peyton, having recently lost her husband in a surprising and tragic car accident flees to a small town hoping to start a fresh without the memories of her old life sinking her down. She immediately makes a friend in the local bar owner and a potential man friend in the town cop who she just can’t stop thinking about.
But Peyton resolves she needs to let her heart heal more before jumping into something knew. But fate has other plans when her shop becomes a murder scene and her life gets thrown into turmoil that only he can protect her from.
I was going into this expecting a light romance and found this book has a lot packed into it. There are car accidents, murder attempts and other crimes, failed marriages, widows, plenty of sexiness and a whole lot of action. On the one hand it was exciting and went pretty fast, but on the other the amount of stuff going on meant the story doesn’t delve to deep into the issues.
I liked the small town vibes going on and the fast friends made in all the side characters. Of course with a plot this busy there is a fair amount that is a bit on the dramatic side which gives the story a bit of that feel when you watch a tv series set in a small town and you can’t believe all this stuff happens! It was a bit of cheesy fun.
This is a great one to pick up if you want your romance with a side of extra plots. Though I have to say… I don’t quite get the title in relation to the story?
This was one hot and suspenseful book! I couldn't put it down.
Peyton just wants to start over after a horrible tragedy. She quits her nursing job and opens her own shop in a new town. Just wanting to lay low and start living again is all she wants. However after a scary incident in her shop, it changes her life in many ways. Some of them were very scary and others were hot!
Boone was a man who is coasting through life. I loved the first interaction between these two. I had to reread it a couple of times because it was that hot!! Boone is a steady man who is great at his job, has a wonderful relationship with his family and friends.
The suspense of this book was top notch. It kept you on the edge of your seat till the end.
I highly recommend this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed Naughty Stranger. Peyton is starting over in Stoney Creek and one morning finds a dead body in her new shop. Boone is the hot (of course) cop that is working the case and also working on a relationship with Peyton. I had some guesses on who the culprit was, but Kennedy through me off the scent (though I ended up being right).
Peyton and Boone were drawn to each, but didn't make their move for a bit, once they did it was all downhill, though they both denied things were happening. They were both coming from tough places (Peyton is a widow and Boone's marriage ended badly) but talked and communicated with each other about their wants and needs. I absolutely appreciated that there was no "misunderstanding" or silly reason why they had to break up before getting back together. We didn't need that on top of they mystery going on.
I do feel that Naughty Stranger isn't the right title for this book. Peyton and Boone aren't exactly strangers, so I got something different than I expected, but I loved what I got so I definitely don't want the story changed. Can't wait to read the next one, I need to know about Damon!
4.5-5 Stars! Loved it!! This book has everything!! Romance, heartbreak, suspense, happily ever after, second chance romance for both main characters, surprises, sexy times, sadness, friendship, happiness, etc!! I thought I knew who the bad guy was, than I changed my mind & than I was surprised! This was a really great read and I DEFINITELY recommend this book! It’s the first book in the series & I CAN’T wait for the other books!!
*I received this book to read and review at no charge from the publisher and I gave my honest opinion.*
Good book with great characters full of action and twist and turns. I loved how Payton and Boon were together and how they both faced tragidy in their lives but did not let it break them. My only problem was the editing, there are quite a few mis-spelled words and sentence structruring errors. All in all a good book , just needs some polishing.
Confession, I thought this book would be a sexy story with a little mystery thrown in. Wrong! It is a fantastic tale of two people who have lost loves and want nothing to do with love again. They just want to have friend relationships. I love the camaraderie of the cops and the friends. I cried, I laughed and I smiled. This is more than sex, it is a lovely story. The mystery was good. Even though I figured out the villain, I still had a doubt towards the end of the story. I look forward to the books featuring the friends.
I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I loved the characters and the town. The chemistry between Payton and Boone was off the charts and the friendship between Payton, Kinsley and Remy was a lot of fun. I loved how they addressed Payton and Boone’s past relationships and the way they worked through their issues together. The editing could use some work and the mystery was predictable but there were enough surprises to make it worth the read.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I loved the chemistry between Boone and Peyton as they struggle to figure out what they mean to each other. Along the way, they try to figure out why there are attempts on Peyton, and that the murdered woman looked very similar in appearance to Peyton.
I loved all the hints to the next book with Remy dating Drake and the terrible heartbreak with Asher. The next book, looks like a good one, also!
This book kept me reading as I wanted to know who was behind the attempts and how the guys were investigating. Pretty much non-stop action as Peyton either tries to stay alive or is helping others with her nurse's training.
Loved that Boone and Peyton finally figured out that taking a second chance with love was worth it and especially when you find the right person!
Loved Peyton and Boone! Peyton left Seattle for Stoney Creek, Maine to start fresh. She was a nurse, but is opening a lingerie store in town. She meets Kinsley the first day next door. She owns the bar. She also kisses a naughty stranger, who turns out to be a detective and Kinsley’s brother. He is drawn to her. She is attracted to him. A murder in her store starts a series of events that throws the two together. Boone has his own past, but he wants to have Peyton. Can they solve the murder before Peyton becomes the next victim? Can they find their happily ever after? Great suspenseful read! 5 stars
