5* Deeply Emotional Stars
This was a beautifully powerful well-written story of love, unforseen loss and finding love again. The writing style of the author is flawless and the story of Philip, Charlotte, and Ben is emotionally haunting. You will connect with these three from the beginning and they will enter your heart and stay there until the last page is read.
The secondary characters in the book were very likeable and were pivotal in the lives of Charlotte, Ben and Philip.
The story is very heartfelt and real and you will be left thinking about this highly emotional raw read for many days to come. I have found a new Author whose story has left me wanting to read more from her.
Many thanks to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for my copy to read and review.
This is a powerful and compelling story of love, friendship, loss, and forgiveness. It was hard to put down! I thought it was a just a tad too long and that some scenes near the end when someone was in hospice (I won’t say who) were a little too long and a little too overdone, but other than that I found this to be a love story on many different levels and full of meaning. It is deeper than your ordinary romance and that is what I loved about it.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
If you like emotionally-driven women’s fiction, heartbreak and hope, loss and love, then This. Is. Your. Book. Charlotte falls in love with wealthy and somewhat mysterious Phillip, who whisks her away to the beauty of Islamorada, Florida. Phillip's frequent absences, a chance meeting with a handsome stranger, and the shadow of a father who disappeared years before all collide in paradise. Weinstein surprised me more than once in this emotionally raw story. Great beach read.
Wow what a beautiful story. This book has all the feels & was just the type of read I needed right now. While very predictable, this is still a great read. This is my first book by this author, but I will definitely read some more of hers. 4/5
This book opens your heart up and the lives bleed all over it. The author moves you into the characters world making you feel like you’re living and breathing their story. This is a story about transformation, loss, love and forgiveness. But done so in a tasteful way that makes you want the story to never end. A must read!
I loved this book it was happy and sad and I was here for it and it made me cry 😢 but I feel like it was a bittersweet cry I feel like the love in the book was good I feel like people should read this book
A new author to me, Rochelle B Weinstein and ‘This is not how it ends’ broke me. The story told in this book was beautiful yet painfully sad. From start to finish everything felt so real, from the plot and characters to individual scenes, it was easy to imagine that you were, or could be part of the story. The reality the characters faced was humbling, and the way they dealt with it was beautifully portrayed.
The authors writing style was engaging and addictive. It is easy to see why she has garnered some amazing reviews from her peers and fans alike.
This is Not How it Ends by Rochelle B. Weinstein is not the type of book that I typically read. However, when I read the description I was intrigued and decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! I really enjoyed this novel. It was touching and heartbreaking and I couldn't put it down. Charlotte's love story was beautifully written and I can see why many readers cried while reading it! I am not a crier or an emotional person but this story touched me. Weinstein's characters were complex and relatably flawed. I quickly became invested in what happened to each of the characters and I felt both their pain and their happiness. Overall, an enjoyable and moving story.
Thanks so very much to Lake Union Publishing, NetGalley and the author, Rochelle B. Weinstein for an early read of this book. This was the first book by this author, that I have read, and I can't believe that I haven't read her writing before...this author is exactly the type of author I love to read and follow, while I wait for her next book to come out.
Charlotte is engaged to a great man, however distance keeps them apart a lot of the time, and when reading the book, you can sense that Charlotte is lonely. She meets a man at a store, that she has instant chemistry with, and before long you can tell that this is a classic 'who will she pick' type of book, however it's not that simple.
This is a very emotional and thought provoking book, and when a book makes me cry, I feel that the author has done their job by making me feel the emotion through the words on the page.
Kudos to Rochelle B. Weinstein, and for all of the other readers of this book...I hope you love it as much as I do.
Very emotional book that was beautifully written. Compelling storyline, great characters. Lots of parts to discuss, would be great for a book club.
4.5 stars
I needed a book to lose myself in over the long weekend, and I definitely achieved it here. I was immediately drawn in to the story and stayed up late just to get to the end. Without giving away the story, this book is filled with emotions, with relationships, with unexpected, with wondering, and with key decisions that need to be made. I look forward to exploring more book s by this author.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and definitely won’t be my last. It was a hard to put down book! It was sad and happy, just perfect in every way! I loved it!! Thanks to Netgalley and Lake Union publishers for the early copy
Loved this book. Loved the characters and the writing was very detailed and gave me all the feels. I’m not a crier, but actually cried several times during this amazing book. So we’ll written and the character development is fantastic.
Highly recommend.
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
This was DNF for me. I thought the main character was ok but I really, really disliked the husband. I found him to be an ass.
I was given an advanced copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
Wow what an amazing heart felt story about love and life. I loved this book. I highly recommend reading it if you enjoy a live story.
This is a story about Charley who meet Phillip on a flight back from a conference. Phillip is spontaneous and exciting, it is not long until Charley is madly in love. When Charley’s mom gets sick the cancer Phillip does all he can to help Charley through it. After her mom dies Charley moves to the Florida keys with Phillip.
Phillip has a demanding job that keeps him traveling. This causes Charley to wonder if they want the same things. Will Charley and Phillip get married? Will the loneliness be too much for Charley? Will she walk away from a man she dearly loves but he just can’t give her all she needs?
This was such a great read!! The story covered love and loss in such a real and raw way. I have not read this author before but I definitely am looking forward to more of her work. I can't wait to buy this book for my friends.
Loved loved this book another involving emotional story by this author..A novel of love loss redemption emotionally delicious.Highly recommend. #netgalley #lakeunionpublishing.
This is a great book! This is Not How it Ends is a complex love story. A perfect weekend book to read.
Charlotte and Phillip meet by chance on an airplane. He’s rich, she’s a teacher. They fall in love, and move to the Keys. Charlotte finds herself wondering if her relationship with Phillip is the real thing. He is constantly traveling, and even when home, he's not really in the moment, as his business dealings are his priority. Charlotte is in love, but is very lonely without him. Then, she meets Ben.
Was I surprised by the ending? No. But, during the story, it was enjoyable to read. The characters of the story were well developed, and I appreciated that Charley was positively portrayed as a loving, caring, competent
teacher.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lake Union Publishing, and Rochelle Weinstein for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I’ve read by @rochwein and not my last!
Expected Publishing Date: October 15, 2019
It’s been a while since I ugly cried while reading a book. To be more precise, it would have been in January or February when I finished beta-reading Kelly Moore’s Gypsy. So, I was surprised that things took such a gut-wrenching turn when I started reading This is Not How it Ends!
First of all, as a lover of all things related to the Florida Keys, I loved the setting of this novel. Secondly, as a borderline stalkerish dog-lover, I loved the prominent role that Charlotte’s dog, Sunny, played in the novel. And of course, I love all things involving funny, charming, good-looking men – a.k.a. Phillip. So this was looking to be the perfect read for me. But then, good Lord, things got sad so fast!
I won’t even hint about the overall premise of the novel, but here’s what I can say for certain. This novel is an absolute gem about love, friendship, what we think we want, and what we realize we need. As much as I loved this novel, I’m not going to sugar-coat things and pretend that Charlotte was the most amazing heroine ever because she wasn’t. She relied on Phillip and his presence as indicators of her happiness. I was this close to loving her character, but as I read and when I reflected on everything afterward, I realized that she put too much ownership of her own happiness into a man’s hands.
I wasn’t sure about Phillip in the beginning, but ended up completely in love with him in the ending – but I will not say why.
Then there was Ben and his son Jimmy….I will shamelessly admit that I was in love with this man within a paragraph or two of him being introduced into the novel. His charisma, charm, subtle shyness, and his relationship with his son just did it for me.
This is Not How How it Ends was a very emotional read on several levels. Weinstein touches on parents separating and leaving, sudden, accidental death, prolonged death to illness, romance, love, infidelity, shame, remorse – and anything else you could possibly imagine. But, it’s a damned good book. I was hooked after a chapter or two, then I was obsessed with finishing it, and then I was blubbering like an idiot and cursing the author’s name.
I regret that I never connected with Charlotte and I regret that I never really cared to connect with her. However, the rest of the novel made up for that issue, and I highly recommend this one.
