A great novel with likeable characters. I hadn’t read the previous books in the series but this didn’t hinder me at all. Excited to read more about Katie

The book is written against a religious backdrop, and provides for a lot of twists and turns, all in the name of religion, and the killer is doing everything accordingly. Book was well written, but I would prefer a little less swearing, but that's just me.

I really enjoyed reading The Last Amen.

The mystery surrounds Detective Murphy as she investigates the death of a woman found dressed in vintage clothing with her hands clasped in a prayer position. Soon another body is found. Are they connected? What's the motive? And, can the detective find the killer before it strikes again?

Great story that kept me guessing until the very end.

In this third book in the Detective Kate Murphy series, Kate is living with her boyfriend, Luke O’Brien and his mother Marjorie. Kate is called to the scene of a young woman who has been murdered and staged in bed holding a rosary. As Kate and her colleagues begin their investigation, another woman is found murdered and posed in the same way. There are no obvious connections between the women, so why have they been targeted? Kate knows that they are dealing with a serial killer and need to find him before there are more victims. Is the murderer someone who is killing based on his twisted religious beliefs? The Last Amen is a detective murder mystery with a religious touch to it. I am not usually a big fan of novels where the main protagonist is a detective but this story was interesting to read. I liked that the story was about a serial killer who had some crazy religious beliefs. This is the third book in the series. I have not read the first two but I can say that my reading experience was good. I did not feel anything was missing not having read the previous books. So you can read the book as a standalone.

I liked the main character Kate Murphy, she is a tough woman & has gone through a lot. Her recurring nightmares must be something carried on from the previous books too. Mrs. O'Brian is another character I enjoyed. The funny religious touch to her character was amusing. The writing style is very good but what I think the story lacked was more characters to increase the number of suspects for the readers. 25% in the book I had two clear suspects in mind & one of them is the killer. The number of characters in relative to the length of the book should have been more proportionate.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read & I would recommend it if you like the points I have mentioned. Thanks to the publisher & Netgalley for providing me a free copy of this book. This is my honest & unbiased review.
