I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This cute book was fun to read. The pictures are bright and it flows well. It's a very good compliment to the author's Did Dinosaurs Have Dentists? A fun read for kids!

I liked this book. It was really cute and super simple. It had rhyme to it and was a little sing songy. The images were nice. Not breathtaking, but nice and simplified. Kind of wish the story would’ve been more focused on specifically penguins instead of just mentioning a bunch of different animals. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read this for free!

I received this arc from NetGalley for an honest review. I love that book written in question form about animals and if they suffer from ailments as people do. The illustrations are great and I love the end information about vets.

An adorable book that would be perfect at any home or doctors office. Simple rhymes and colorful illustrations fill the pages. I love how the book ends with facts about the animals for kids (and adults) to learn!

This is an adorable picture book designed to ease the fears of children about to visit a doctor. There is a glossary at the end full of big words they may hear and their kid-friendly definitions. Definitely worth keeping on-hand for when appointment worries set in.

Do Penguins Have Pediatricians by Patrick O’Donnell was fantastic! For such a small and simple book, I didn’t expect much educational value. Illustrated by Erik Mehlen, the pages are a parade of Arctic and Antarctic animals each with its own ailment: a caribou dotted with chicken pox, three arctic foxes sporting bandaids after flu shots, and a feverish harp seal with an ice pack on its head and a thermometer in its mouth. While at the pediatrician, the doctor is asked whether animals can get sick. After a litany of examples, the doctor praises the questions and curiosity and explains that animals do indeed get sick, but that animal doctors are called vets.

After the story is a glossary of fun facts about each animal mentioned. Following the informative glossary are drawn pictures of the writer and illustrator, both with a short paragraph about each of them. This book would be a great addition to any pediatrician’s waiting room, school nurse’s office, or family bookshelf. The animals and their ailments are illustrated in a humorous way that won’t cause anxiety or fear of a visit to the pediatrician.

This is such a fun little book! My two (almost three) year old loved the colorful illustrations and the flow of the book. I loved the fact that at the end it had all the information about the different animals mentioned. This will definitely be a book we purchase for our daughter's library along for a few of her friends as well!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is a quick read picture book. For me, the best part of this book was the illustrations which were cartoon like and amusing. The text did not speak to me as much; it goes through various ailments and asks if particular animals can have them. Answers come only at the very end of the story and mostly in an appendix. Still, children will most likely enjoy the pictures and the whimsy.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This delightful book is from the same author who created "Did Dinosaurs Have Dentists". It touches on 14 children's health issues that are fun and entertaining. A child on the way to a paediatrician asks some very thought-provoking questions on the journey:

"Has a Beluga Whale ever had bronchitis?"
"Do Polar Bears suffer from pinkeye?"
"Can a Caribou catch chicken pox?"
"Do Walruses get toothaches?"
"Can Snow Owls come down with strep throat?" .... just to name a few.

The silly,, but relevant questions to a child are intended to alleviate the fears and worries of a child before they honour their doctor's appointment. They learn that a human when sick goes to a doctor while an animal when ill sees a vet.

The illustrations are vibrantly coloured and full of humour. The animal characters with their various maladies will provoke giggles I'm sure. The author has included at the back of the book a section where each animal that has appeared in the story is documented and given additional informal about its life. I'm sure little ones will love the absurdity of the story, emit some laughter and learn some interesting facts about the diverse collection of critters included in the book along the way. I recommend this book.

Delightful book! This will definitely appeal to my curious readers who will relate the text with their visits to the pediatrician.
The rhyming was so entertaining and the illustrations so creative. What's especially interesting was the brief descriptions of the various animals mentioned throughout the text. The book managed so well to balance the fun with the educational. Well done!

This is a quick picture book, with cute pictures, and no real plot. But, kids look at the pictures, and don't care about the plot anyway.

This is really questions that a child would ask a doctor, when going to the doctor, or at least that is the framing that was given in the book. She wonders if animals get sick the way humans do. The back of the book talks about all the animals features in the book, and how life is like for them really.

Kids will enjoy the silly questions, and the pictures that go along with them.

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

This is a book of silly questions that makes animals more relatable to children. I especially liked the section at the end that provided information about each of the animals mentioned so that children can learn something in addition to just being entertained.

Do Penguins Have Pediatricians by Patrick O Donnell

I loved this cute book!!!🥰
The illustrations are super cute and funny.. I love how the story goes with the illustrations!

After the story, there is a chart that is just a couple of pages long that gives a description of the animal and a little about how they live.

This is a cute book that can be enjoyed by a child age 3-6 yrs old.

Thanks NetGalley & Schaffer publishing for the ARC of this book.

I liked this book more than I thought I might. It's fiction, but it's sort of non-fiction as well. The rhyming story asks lots of funny questions, such as, "Can a wolverine catch a cold?" or, "Has a narwhal ever had a tummy ache?" Eventually, the reader is informed that animals can get sick just like people do, but that rather than seeing a pediatrician, they see a vet.

Some of the pictures are pretty amusing (I dare you to look at the penguin who forgot to zip up its coat and not crack a smile). They're simple, but illustrate the story well. A highlight for me is the section at the back where each of the animals that appears in the story is introduced with a little blurb of information.

It took me a while, though, to realize I was reading a book in rhyme. Some of the rhymes are tenuous, at best, and the meter is pretty much off throughout. I've read better rhymes in other children's books. (I'm not sure what could really be improved upon, though, while still keeping the story and information the same.)

It's a simple story with some fairly goofy questions, but it does teach a little bit about various animals. Overall, I would recommend this one.

This is a really cute book! I thought it would have had more of a story, but it was still good for younger children. It poses lots of great questions about animals and then has some interesting facts about each one. The illustrations are great, too!
