This was one heck of a suspense. It had ghost hunters. It had murder. I enjoyed the book for what it was. But there were parts that just weren't for me either.
It was a well written story. And had compelling characters. The chemistry was there too.
Overall a decent read
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
Generally like the author, but not my favorite of her books.
Characters fell just a little flat this time, though the plot moved.
Heather Graham can do no wrong. Her stories have paranormal, intrigue, and a storyline that you start and can't put down until the very end.
Synopsis:
Former detective Joe Dunhill knows what she’s going through—the strange gift of being able to see and talk to the dead is a struggle he shares. A new member of the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, he’s on the team investigating the disturbing death. The town is steeped in old-fashioned superstition, and the deeper Joe and Keri plunge into the dark secrets of the inn, the closer they get to a devastating truth. Will a bloody history be repeated? Or can the spirits of the past reach out to stop a killer?
An absolutely griping tale that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time! Finding answers to all those little questions that run rampant in your head are all that matters. A race against time to prevent the past from being repeated will keep you eating long past bedtime.
I had not read anything by this author before and did not realize I was starting with book 28 in a series, but it read just fine as a standalone. I enjoyed this one, which is part of the "Krewe of Hunters" series and has paranormal elements as well as a bit of romance mixed in with the mystery/thriller genre and was very well done.
Keri Wolf has recently joined The Seekers, a show that goes around searching for paranormal activity, and as she has the gift of being able to see and talk to the dead, she is a perfect fit for the show. Former Detective Joe Dunhill shares the same gift as Keri, and has recently joined the FBI's "Krewe of Hunters" investigative team. Their two paths cross when Keri is at the site of an old inn that is supposedly haunted, and was the site of an ax murder in the early 1900s. However the crew discovers a dead body upon their arrival and Joe is part of the investigation into the murder.
I thought the paranormal element mixed in with the murder investigation was great, and I loved the relationship between Keri and Joe. Overall this was a great story that kept my attention from the beginning and I look forward to reading more of this series as well as other books by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and MIRA Books for the digital copy to review.
It's time to admit Heather Graham's books aren't well written. But she does come up with some interesting stories. This one isn't one of my favorites but I liked the basic plot.
The other issue with many of her's is that she does research, but only so much. She doesn't get into things, just enough to make her story work. In this case, it's "satanism."
I found this installment in Graham's Krewe of Hunters series intriguing since it was dealing with places that I know quite well. The main character, Keri, was very interesting since she was a historic crime writer. I'd never come across such a career before but it fits in perfectly with the types of cases the Krewe handles. My biggest complaint is that this book seemed to move a lot slower than the others in the series, it seems like I was a solid 2/3 of the way through before the pace really picked up and I was able to sink my teeth into the mystery. Still, it made for a good lazy weekend read.
The Seekers by Heather Graham is definitely a book to read if you love The paranormal. Let me say that there are other books in this series however, you need not read them to fully understand this book. This book will intrigue you with ghosts..... nope a real dead body. Not just any body but that of an FBI agent. The author does a great job of keeping your interest while you follow along as the paranormal investigators do more than what the job calls for... find a killer. I had a hard putting this book down. Thank you to netgalley as well as the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
I love novels with a supernatural flair and Graham did that so well in this novel. I think that if you love creepy supernatural things - this book is for you.
Everyone loves a ghost story, right? This book started with a paranormal group setting up a show in a historic inn. Before they can even record their show, a body turns up in the former torture chamber. Only it’s not a ghost, it’s an FBI agent.
This was the 28 book in the series, but I don’t think it took away from my overall enjoyment of the story. I suppose I would have had more background on the characters, but I didn’t find myself confused.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Thank you, Harlequin for our review copy.
This was a very interesting and fast pace book. I lived the setting & even though it's a huge series, I was able to jump in and do just fine. I love the paranormal aspects of the story & it definitely kept my interest. If you're a fan of thrillers and enjoy ghosts, spirits, etc. definitely try this one.
This was the first book of this series I have read. And even though it sounded intriguing, it is unfortunately not my kind of book. It took me a while to read it because I would pick it up, get bored, read something else and then come back to it. I used to be a huge paranormal fan but as I have gotten older, I have found that I love psychological thrillers. I guess I need to stick with that genre as this just wasn't my thing.
Good book and a good read for a cold dark night!
Thank you Netgalley, publisher and author for an advanced copy
I received an advanced digital copy of this book from the author, publisher and Netgalley.com. Thanks to all for the opportunity to read and review. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Another entertaining read from Heather Graham. The Krewe is back and now have a new member and a dead body to investigate. Well written and suspenseful. Good book to check out from reality with.
4 out of 5 stars. Recommended reading.
Thank you netgalley and publisher for the early copy.
I checked out this thriller but could not connect with the writing style.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher.
Unfortunately, I tried to pick up this book a few times but could not get into it.
I ended up DNF this one at this point.
Thank you
This is my first Heather Graham novel and won’t be my last. I wish I had started them in order, and not waited so long, but will probably let go back to the beginning of the series as this is book #28 in The Krewe of Hunters. The search for the Paranormal is something I find interesting in itself,
Thank you for the opportunity to review this title.
Criminal minds meets paranormal ghost hunters meets a tale about past and present. I liked the concept of this book and the overall story. However, from very early on, I struggled with the number of characters that were introduced all at once. I actually had to flip back quite often in the beginning to recall who each of the characters was as I felt like I was pelted with a string of a dozen names, but no real standout characteristics for each.
Once I got a handle on the characters, there were also quite a few subplots to wade through. I eventually got everything straight, but I think this book would have benefited from paring down both characters and plots.
I had a hard time believing the love story element, particularly how serious the characters were at the end after having only met a few days earlier.
I did enjoy the paranormal elements and felt the author did a good job making the story mysterious and spooky.
Overall, this one was just okay. Unfortunately, I don't know if it's anything I will remember down the road.

The Seekers by Heather Graham
As always with the Krewe of Hunters buckle yourself in for mystery and ghosts! Was not a fast moving plot but it kept me interested and engaged and had characters that were real for me. Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this book and allowing me to leave my opinion.
