This was a good book. Interesting characters and fairly good plotline. I would read a book from this author again.
Heather Graham is an amazing Storyteller! Every single book I read of hers is great! Can't wait for her next book!!
I’m not sure what bothered me about this book, but I couldn’t get into it. I’ve heard so much about this author so I expected to love it, but I didn’t.
Heather Graham added another solid read for those who like mystery, thriller and the paranormal. This was a fast read and did not disappoint. The characters followed along her previous Krewe of Hunters with a new character added to the group. When Keri Wolf joins the paranormal investigators "The Seekers" to investigate a old haunted inn between Philadelphia and Harrisburg known for its axe murders, she finds herself involved in a real life murder that is very similar to the previous murders. Enter the Krewe of Hunters to find the answers to both the murder and the ghosts who are still there.
The Seekers kept me turning the pages, and wondering why I haven't read this series in awhile! Definitely time to go back and find the ones that I've missed. I loved the characters and the plots, and the appreciate the time that obviously went into the research. This novel will keep you thinking and guessing.
A historic inn, a horrible crime, persistent rumors and ghosts combine in this story of suspense. Keri is new to the series, but we met Dallas and Joe in the previous book. Joe is new to ghosts and after the first major scene in this story so is Keri! Carl returns from the previous book as well and I adored his storyline in this book.
As with the previous books, history has a huge role and is well researched. The discussion of religion, witchcraft, crimes and how past and present can relate was engaging and fun. Jackson and Angela do show up but towards the end. Several new characters were introduced that I hope we see again There is a Dr. in Philadelphia who was precious and quite insightful. Then Carl’s discovery at the end has me hopeful for more time with him as well!
I love how these books can be read as a stand-a-lone or as a series. I would recommend reading in order because the characters and Krewe development is spectacular and so is seeing the different ghosts and roles individuals have had in history!
Thank you for the chance to read this book and share my opinion!
Heather Graham never fails to deliver. Her books are interesting, spooky and sexy at the same time...this one is no exception. I had not read any of the previous books in this series but I was able to jump right in. I love the story but I was not very fond of the heroine.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for this ARC.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read a complementary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
I’ve always enjoyed Heather Graham’s books and have read a couple in the Krewe hunter series, I have enjoyed them all. This book is no exception, the storyline was interesting right from the beginning, the characters were enjoyable and likable. I really enjoyed seeing Joe and Dallas continuing on with their storyline, and of course a few favourites had cameos near the end. When Carl, a young celebrity buys an old tavern and hotel with a grisly past of murder and mayhem, he has a group called the truth seekers come in to do some ghost hunting and he asks a new friend of his, Keri, to come in as well, as the historical writer of mysteries that she is. The group doesn’t even make it through the first night before they find a dead body in the basement in the torture chamber. Joe and Dallas are the agents that come in to help solve the mystery and sparks between Keri and Joe were instantly there. It was an interesting story, I really enjoyed how the historical crimes linked to the present story. The ending was heart-stopping and very satisfying. Can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This book was definitely not what I usually find myself reading in PNR and I truly enjoyed it.
I really tried to get into this book but it was a slow read for me but I am guessing it’s because it is not the first book in the series.
A haunting story of murder from the 1920’s now seeming to be in the present. With an investigator who can communicate with the dead to hopefully solve the murder. Will they be able to solve what happened?
Y'all I really liked this one! I will admit that at first I wasn't so sure if this was going to be one that I would finish... only because it didn't really capture my attention and hold it for a long period of time like some of the other novels do. But... I was very glad I finished it because it really started to pick up! Take a chance and read this one!
The Seekers by Heather Graham is the 28th novel in the series. What I love about the books is that I could read them out of order and still fall along on what's happening. The group of characters are mostly known as the Krewe of Hunters. A special division within the FBI. They handle bizarre and paranormal cases. Each member of this unit can see, hear, and interact with ghosts.
The Seekers is intense. It has the creepy factor all the way up. Suspense is felt throughout the book. The book closes in on the history of the haunted inn/tavern and of two protagonists. Both the FBI agent Joe and the historical writer Kerri are the central focus for this novel. Joe is ex-military and former police officer. After solving a case involving a dead man's ghost, Joe has been accepted into the Krewe of Hunters division. He has to work as a consultant until he passes the academy. Kerri is well-known for her accurate historical facts and her books. She is told by her publicity agent to join the ghost hunters and Carl, the young actor who now owns the old inn in finding the history of the place. The publicity to help would make Kerri's books sell more copies. She agrees. Only her, Carl, Joe and his FBI partner find more than they bargained for.
This plot is another challenge for this unit. An older member and a newbie are called in to investigate a murder. One that involves a dead FBI agent. But that isn't the only thing about the case that has the Krewe of Hunters interested. The place where she was killed, is known for mass murder. Many have died in the tavern slash inn where the FBI agent was slaughtered. To make matters more creepy, a group of ghost haunters are filming the inn and tavern for any sightings of ghosts. They want to film but the Krewe Hunters unit is skeptical. They suspect the ghost hunters as well as many others. Overall, I highly recommend this thrilling novel to all readers.
The Seekers is the 28th book in the Krewe of Hunters series. That's a lot of books! I'm not familiar with the series at all, but I was able to read this as a standalone fairly well. The premise is unique and exciting with this group of people who travel around and kind of catch or capture ghosts. It's definitely different in a good way. There are historical tidbits throughout that were informative and interesting. The characters are well developed and likeable, but I think some background information would have been helpful. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I can understand why this series is popular. I need to catch up and read the rest of the series now! Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.
It was so great to read this book, and right after The Summoning, too! I'm really happy with that, it always seems like I got behind on reading Heather Graham's books, and at the moment, I'm not! Yeah, I'm really happy with that!
We get to spend more time with Joe, who is now on the path to becoming Krewe himself. Actor Carl is also in this book, and the ending had me thinking he could've been the hero in the next book, that would've really completed this little mini trilogy within the series, but alas.
I think this is the most modern crime that the ghosts were involved with in this series, at least for a while. If I remember right, not all of them even have a historic crime that spurs on the modern one, just that the ghosts stayed behind for whatever reasons. So that was a bit different, the research was more front and center then behind the scenes and brought up with it was done!
Keri and Joe didn't got off on the right foot, that's for certain! There was a certain amount of animosity, since she maybe saw a woman in white, and since she didn't believe in ghosts at the time, well, yeah, that caused some conflict between them because he called her a liar. But that initial bad interaction made it all the more sweeter when the got together!
Yeah, this book was a really fantastic read, and I really enjoyed it!
Received in exchange for a honest review.
This has a great creep factor. Great anytime of the year but would be super awesome at Halloween.
Loved Joe. He was a great addition to the Krewe of Hunters. He seemed to be confident but not arrogant. Empathetic but not to push overy. He had great instincts and was good at unraveling what is in front of him. Him and Kerri were great as a team and in their romance together as well.
Kerri was a strong, smart confident young woman who had good instincts on who to trust and who not to. She knew when things felt wonky. You could tell that she has some abilities she does try to deny and ignore but can’t. She was the one that dealt with history and how unsolved mysteries deals with the past.
Many of the characters were polarizing in either having you love or not like them. Others you wondered about-what were they up to and who are you really? Each had engaged in the story and their part in the mystery going on at the moment and in the past. Had you asking-do they have any link to the town and it’s bloody past.
The story was where a film crew came to do a deal on the inn and suddenly we have a murder. We have some creepy ghost haunting and some cold cases come into play as well. What we see is a group that you wonder who you can trust and who you can’t. You wonder who is involved and who isn’t and you see some dark pasts come out about the town, some of the characters and the inn. The story is creepy and eerie at times but so so entertaining and keeps you entranced from beginning to end. I so did not expect how this ended and couldn’t put this bad bear down it was really good. The romance was a added bonus because even without it the book was awesome.
Keri Wolf is a nonfiction writer that has joined the “Seekers,” a group of people looking for a paranormal experience in the old supposedly haunted inn. The place is famous for its warm welcome. It is also infamous for an ax murder rampage in the 1920’s. Just as they started, a dead body is found in the basement of the inn. Keri also sees a female ghost in white. Who is the ghost? Who is the very real dead body? A new member of th FBI’s Krewe of Hunters Joe Dunhill is at the inn to investigate what/who killed the dead body that was found. Joe can see and talk to the dead. Will that help? The small town appears to be very superstitious. As Joe and Keri learn more, they discover secrets of the old inn.
The author has written a great suspense, mystery and romantic novel. There are twists and turns in this book I didn’t expect. The ghosts in this novel were very real to me. I haven’t read this series in a very long time yet I found myself enjoying it as much if not more when I read the series originally. Read it!
Sadly I think I'm done with this series ... as much as I enjoy most Heather Graham books, the Krewe series of books has gotten to the point that there is so much history and it is sometimes so repetitive and dragged out that I end up skimming most of the book and don't get to delve in as deeply as I'd like. There seems to be less of the action and paranormal in current books and more of the historical details now...
The Seekers by Heather Graham is the 28th book in the Krewe of Hunters series, and another great addition. I have read a few books in this series, but each book can be a stand alone. I enjoy this series about ghosts haunting, The Krewe travels to different places to investigate and either help or get rid of ghosts. In this book the Krewe travels to a haunted Inn in Pennsylvania. I enjoy this book because you learn about new places and their history, along with spooky ghosts. I strongly recommend this book and series, for anyone who enjoys a good ghost story.
I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.
Keri Wolf has joined the crew of The Seekers, a show that searches for paranormal phenomena, as they explore a supposedly haunted old inn on the road between Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The place is famous for its warm welcome—and infamous for being the site of an ax murder rampage in the 1920s. They’ve barely begun when a very real dead body is discovered in the basement. As a nonfiction author, Keri is supposed to be the rational one, but she can’t explain a terrifying apparition that seems to be both a threat and a warning. Former detective Joe Dunhill knows what she’s going through—the strange gift of being able to see and talk to the dead is a struggle he shares. A new member of the FBI’s Krewe of Hunters, he’s on the team investigating the disturbing death. The town is steeped in old-fashioned superstition, and the deeper Joe and Keri plunge into the dark secrets of the inn, the closer they get to a devastating truth. Will a bloody history be repeated? Or can the spirits of the past reach out to stop a killer?
This was a pretty good book. It was a mystery with some paranormal activity mixed in. There were some times where it was a little slow but that didn’t deter from the story. I highly recommend.
