Summer Hill is full of matchmakers. Terri knows this first hand after she comes home to find Nate living in her house. He seems like an okay guy, handsome and even her type, but is Terri ready to take that plunge. Those who enjoy great, complicated romances will love this story. It is perfect small town fun with a few secrets to keep you guessing. I just loved it.

Thanks to Mira for the opportunity to read this delightful ARC**

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! I’ve been a fan of Ms. Deveraux’s since I read A Knight in Shining Armor and when I’m asked what my favorite romance is, I never hesitate to reply with A Knight in Shining Armor. That is until I read Met her Match. I believe I’ve found a new favorite romance novel. Even though this was the 2nd book in the Summer Hill series, I didn’t feel like I needed to read the first. I wasn’t lost at all.
Terri Rayburn has a reputation in her town. She’s the one who fixes everything at the summer resort, the one everyone turns to for help there, but when she heads into town her reputation immediately changes. She becomes the woman everyone talks about. Stories in town abound and they aren’t good. She’s painted in the worst possible light and no one sticks up for her. She does what’s best for her and stays away from town, only going in when she needs something.
One day she returns from a short trip and finds a stranger in her house. It turns out that the Montgomery matchmakers are at it again, but this time there’s an issue. Nate’s already engaged, it’s to the mayor’s perfect daughter. Nate and Terri attempt to ignore the growing feelings as they get closer and becomes friends, but it’s difficult. When Nate heads into town, he hears all about Terri, and it doesn’t match up with the woman he’s getting to know, so he decides to get to the bottom of all the rumors.
This story just couldn’t be better, we’ve got an amazing setting, wonderful characters, and a storyline that’s perfection. I’m definitely interested in the rest of the series now and can’t wait to read them.
*I received an ARC of this story from the publisher and Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Through no fault of her own Terri has lived with a certain reputation most of her life. She knows there isn't much she can do about the status quo especially when you live in a small town so she just ignored it and moved forward in her life. Terri works on a lake and is basically handyman and go to person for any problems that come up on a day to day basis. She moved back home to help her father and has been at it ever since. When she arrives home from a trip to find a man living in her home she knows her father must behind this sneaky deed. Nate is In town to spend some time with his fiancee's parents, get his new business office ready, and to take a bit of a break before he opens said business. His fiancee was suppose to be joining him but took on a job out of the country for a few weeks. He hates that she isn't with him but decides to make the most of the situation he has been dealt. Nate is shocked when he finds out that the person whose home he is staying in is a young vibrant woman. The two end up coming to an agreement about the living situation and soon enter into a friendship. Terri know Nate is engaged but can't help the feelings that are stirring inside her. Mate knows that nothing can happen with Terri but enjoys her company and looks at her in a way that he probably shouldn't. Follow along as these two skirt around feelings, form a bond, and helps you believe that love can find a way. This was the first book I have read from this author and I loved it, I can't wait to pick up more of her books and look forward to seeing what she delivers in the future!

I read a Jude Deveraux novel after a long time and really enjoyed the chemistry between Terri and Nate. I hope we get to read about Stacy and Rowan soon. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Terri is a woman marked by the past. After her mother mysteriously disappeared, the girl had to deal with various rumors about her mother's alleged lovers, and as a result gained an unwanted and undeserved reputation.

Upon meeting the compromised Nate, Terri will need a lot of willpower not to grab the guy because he is everything she has always dreamed of: seductive, strong, hardworking, loves the Lake and has a visible affinity with her. His only fault is to be engaged to the perfect, beloved and sweet daughter of the mayor.

Terri works hard at the lake where her father and two friends have built a wonderful area involving housing, hotel and entertainment. With Nate's arrival, the entire Lake people's dynamic will change and with Stacy's return to the city turnaround will occur as Nate is in doubt about his feelings.

Although I was annoyed by certain behaviors of Nate I loved the way he sought to redeem himself. The resolution on the mystery of Terri's mother was very good and well built within the plot and I liked the touch of humor that the writing used to soften the book's dramatic bit.

3.5/5 stars

Met Her Match was a good romance story with a bit of drama! It definitely put me in a summer mood with it's lakeside town, summer night parties and slow burn romance.

Synopsis
Terri comes home to the lake resort, that she runs with her dad, after completing an errand to find a very sexy Nate will be living with her for the next few weeks. Terri feels that someone, most likely her dad, is playing matchmaker and trying to set her up with Nate. Unfortunately, Nate's engaged to marry the mayor's daughter who has the rest of his life planned out for him. After getting to know Terri, Nate can't understand why there's tension between the town and lake people, but he believes Terri's caught in the middle of it.

Pacing & Points of View
The overall pacing was average. With everything going in within the story, it didn't make for a fast read. Terri and Nate were the main points of view for the story and it was nice to see what was going on in each other's heads as the romance progressed.

Characters
Terri and Nate's romance was definitely a slow burn with him being engaged and both of them complete strangers at first. I'm always drawn into stories when the characters are forced to live together for a time! I loved Terri's independent nature and how Nate threw himself into whatever he was doing. The town versus lake people drama was interesting as well and kept you wondering what happened in the past to cause the rift.

Overall
I liked this dramatic romance with summer feels and a bit of mystery. Perfect for fans that like their romance on the lighter side with more of a story and a really good backstory that reveals itself at the end.

Jude Deveraux's Met Her Match is a sweet, summer read. Deveraux is still in her prime as a writer and keeps delivering compulsively readable tales of falling in love. Terri is definitely not looking for love. She isn't, but when Nate shows up on her literal doorstep, what's a girl to do? The chemistry between these two is undeniable, even if there's the complication of Nate's being engaged to the Mayor's daughter. Oops.

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.

Love this one, finally Jude Deveraux back to her awesomeness. Sure missed her!

Here is a strong heroine that can manage her life without a man, but when her friends serve her Nate on a platter she is tempted to take a bite. The banter between the two protagonists is funny and enjoyable, the story line fairly believable - highly recommended!

Picking up a romance from a familiar author is one of the best feelings. It has been a while since I last read anything from Ms. Deveraux. Coming back to her with this book is a treat. When it comes to romance, Ms. Deveraux creates a perfect blend of yearning, conflict and sexual chemistry. I loved this book. I really love Terri. Terri is the kind of friend that everyone can only hope to have. She gave up her dreams to help her dad out. In some ways, she allows the town to place an albatross upon her very strong shoulders. Even the strongest can break with enough pressure.

Terri is a strong woman who is living life to the fullest given her family constraints. She is the fix it all person for her dad's summer cottages. The people in the "outskirts" of Summer Hill love her. They know she is a straight shooter and can be depended upon. When a man is tossed into her way, she is taken off guard. Fighting an unjust reputation, Terri has to mind her Ps and Qs more than any other person. What I found most heinous about this story is the small minded pettiness coming from other women. Second is the cluelessness and enablement men allowed to degrade and marginalize Terri. I was so angry. I wanted them all to be shown up. Luckily for Terri, the man she doesn't want… Nate, is the man for this job.

Nate's background is interesting. He comes with his own baggage and it is funny because his baggage is what causes the conflict. Luckily for him, his uncle knows better and steers him in the right direction with some underhanded maneuvering. What I love about Nate is his sense of right and wrong. He owns up when he makes a mistake and he wants to champion those who have been unjustly cast in a bad light. His determination to go after what he wants is both a strength and weakness. Weakness because sometimes he doesn't really understand what he wants and ends up with a mess on his hands. Such is the case of his engagement.

The chemistry between Nate and Terri is fantastic. I think it is best captured when the duo work seamlessly to save a drowning person. That scene explains so much and gives a reader a pleasurable warm fuzzy feeling. There are a couple of collateral damages which makes this story more realistic. It is not always a win-win situation. There are consequences to actions and the consequences may hurt innocents. Terri and Nate know this first hand and almost sacrifice their happiness to avoid hurting others. I love them more for it.

This contemporary romance is heartwarming and recommended to all readers who love a happily ever after.

Jude Deveraux never lets me down. I have been reading her books for many years and every time I'm blown away with her gift of writing. Met Your Match is no exception. It is fun, heartbreaking, sweet and romantic in the sense of sex not being thrown in your face all of the time.

"She liked the early morning calm, the few moments she had alone before she had to… Well, start solving problems. As the daughter of the owner of a resort, it was her job to fix everything. Arguments, leaky roofs, finding things, organizing people and events. Any and all of it was her job."

Ah, life in a small town. Terri's life has been characterized by gossip and lies. She has taken it all in stride and tried to brush it off, but it still hurts. Her life has been about work and no fun. She has worked at the lake for her dad all her life and has not had time for anything else.

Until Nate shows up--the man engaged to the mayor's "cute, vivacious, everybody-loves-her" daughter, Stacy. Nate is everything Terri ever wanted in a man: kind, hardworking, drop-dead gorgeous and most of all honorable to a fault. Their friendship grows while they try to deny the attraction and then Stacy comes home from her trip to Italy and reality strikes.

The idea of building a romance going from friends to lovers is the most romantic plot line for me and Terri and Nate's relationship is just that. I love their camaraderie and ease with each other, and love the way they work together without having to explain what needs to be done. Of course, there are nasty people on this story as well. People like Della, the gossip queen of Summer Hill and let's not forget Stacy's parents, the mayor and his wife, who do not hide the fact they do not like Stacy's new fiance, Nate.

There is also a mystery in this story about Terri's mother who supposedly ran off with another man when Terri was a baby; hence, the gossip that Terri is just like her. A great addition to the story.

Overall, as you may have guessed, I love this story. As I said, Jude does not disappoint. Recommend highly!

Thank you to Ms. Deveraux and NetGalley for giving me this opportunity to review this book without expectation of a positive review.

A slow-burn romance with that Jude Deveraux flair that keeps us reading every title. Plenty of sizzle and lots of good story.

I don't read romance books very often, but once in awhile I take a break from the books I normally read and check out one or two. There's nothing wrong with them, it's just they are often very predictable, cookie-cutter books that aren't challenging to read. But, if done well, can be fun and a nice break from the more dense, complex fantasy books I typically read. I'm happy to report that I really enjoyed this book. It is the same "meet-cute, girl likes boy, an obstacle must be overcome, and then we get a happy ending" romance book that we all know and love, but it was well-written and the characters are likable. The story is cute and it was fun to read.

Terri Rayburn lives in the small lake town of Summer Hill, Virginia. She has an undeserved bad reputation from high school, but keeps her head held high and works tirelessly managing her fathers lake resort business. When she returns home from a business trip to find a tall, dark and handsome stranger living in her house, she suspects that her dad and step-mother are playing match-maker. Nate Taggert is just her type, but there's a problem. He's engaged to the "perfect" and popular daughter of the town's mayor.

Nate just left his position working with a diplomat overseas and is trying to figure out his next step. He surprised himself by falling for a girl from a small Virginia town and before he knew it, had agreed to move there from D.C. to open an investment business using their family's contacts to get started. While waiting for his permanent home to open up, he is offered the use of a beautiful home overlooking the lake. Thinking that the home's owner is away in Florida, he is surprised to discover that Terri lives in the house.

Nate and Terri agree to be "roommates" for the duration of Nate's stay, and they enter into a companionable existence. Far from being the soft, Ivy league frat boy she suspects, Nate turns out to be a hard working and capable help around the lake. Before you know it, Nate has become a beloved figure to residents and guests alike. While Terri and Nate both recognize that he's not available, it doesn't stop the sparks from flying. It also doesn't stop Nate from digging into the mystery of Terri's past, or from trying to right a wrong.

The book is a quick and easy read. The characters are well-written and there aren't too many corny shenanigans. One of the things that always drives me crazy about romance novels is that the love interests never bother to actually talk to each other, so stupid misunderstandings create ridiculous drama that could be averted with a simple 5 minute conversation. Fortunately, this book does not have any of that nonsense. It also doesn't position Terri as a home wrecker or Nate as a cheater, which I also don't like in a lot of romance novels.

Overall, this was a fun, light, enjoyable read that I recommend you read.

This book took off like a bullet and the plot never slowed down. Very cute romance, with lots of suspense. So many secrets to uncover that are not all fully revealed to the very end. Highly recommend!

Thank you Netgalley and Mira for the advanced copy of Met her match by Jude Deveraux. I was thrilled when I saw character names Montgomery and Taggert as I have loved the author's previous books of these families. I was expecting a nice summer romance, but what I got was so much more. This is book two of Summer Hill series but can definitely be read as a stand alone (as I have not read the first one). Terri is the small town girl with the reputation -- not deserved, but you know how small towns are...she arrives back home to find a large gorgeous man staying in her home...she knows someone is matchmaking....Nate Taggert has been following in his Uncle's footsteps for years in the CIA, but after Kit retires, finds himself benched behind a desk...so he quits, now he is engaged, and ready to open up his business...but is he happy? Terri and Nate work well together at the Lake, its like they are meant to be together; but Nate is engaged to the daughter of the mayor. The one thing I wasn't expecting was the mystery of Leslie, Terri's Mother. The rumour was she was supposed to have run off with a man -- this added an extra element to the story which I loved. I will definitely go back and read the first book, and will look forward to read the next one.

Met Her Match by Jude Devereaux is a lovely read. Jude creates characters that truly fall in love from spending time together and getting to know each other and not jumping into bed the first night they meet. I enjoyed the building of the relationship and the situations they would find themselves in.

Terri is a very likeable character. She is tough and a hard worker but also feminine. She is loved by the lake people where she takes care of everything. However the ‘town’ people prefer the gossip about her.
Anyone who has lived in a small town can relate to the stigma and gossip of a small town.

Nate is delicious. He is part of the Montgomery clan. He worked with Kit and is extremely talented. It was fun watching him work with the lake people and learn about them and help them use their strengths. I forgot to mention that he is engaged to the Mayor’s daughter, the most popular girl in school back in the day.

Jude throws in some mysteries to enhance the story. Why did Terri’s mother disappear? Why did Terri’s boyfriend leave town? What is the deal with the florist?

How could you not love the fact it includes some of the Montgomery clan. Kit doesn’t make an appearance but is mentioned often.

I highly recommend the book. The story was engaging. The chemistry between the characters was lovely. And she threw in a little bit of mystery.
Sexual content – there is a physical scene, that is well written not just two people jumping into bed together.
Violence – what happened to Terri’s mom

I received this book from Netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review.

This was the perfect summer romance to end my summer reading season. A fun and flirty small town friends to lover story with a bit of a mystery. This is the fourth book in the Summer Hill series, but it worked perfect as a standalone. Loved this small Virginia town and all its lovable and quirky residence. Terri comes home one day to find a hot man in her house. He’s not a burglar and she is pretty certain this is a set up, the thing is he is engaged to the perfect daughter of the towns mayor. What follows is a sweet friends to lovers story full of lively banter and lovely chemistry. Terri was a great character who was smart and strong always combating The small town rumors. Nate what is a good guy who was trying to live up to the expectations of his fiancée and her family. At first I was a little uncertain, wasn’t really crazy that he was already in a relationship and falling in love with somebody else, but it all seem to work itself out. The Mystery added another dimension to the story, and made the ending even happier!

Best-selling author, Jude Deveraux, has held my attention for years. Offhand, I can’t think of any of her titles that I haven’t enjoyed. Met Her Match, Deveraux’s newest release, was just as enjoyable as her other works.

Perfect summer escape, indeed. The balance between the “classes”, the mystery, the camaraderie, the romance – they were all sweetly done in that read-in-a-hammock type of way. (If you’re a devotee of romance novels, you’ll totally get what I mean!) The chemistry between the love interests, the descriptions of the resort town, and all the twists of gossip – reliable or otherwise – made for a relatable read and made you feel like you were sitting lakeside with the rest of the crew.

It might not be summer anymore, but this one would be a great stocking stuffer for those who like sweet, sizzling, contemporary romance with a twist of mystery. Great to read over a weekend or sitting in the school carpool lane! Released a few days ago, it should be available on all major booksellers shelves now.

My thanks to the publisher for a chance to read an advanced reader’s copy courtesy of NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot alternates between romance, family issues, issues between come-from-away, born-here, and summer people, rich vs not-so-rich, working vs vacationers, and then there's the mystery part of the plot. Definitely something for everyone. Probably my very favorite book by this author!

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for a time-constrained e-ARC; my review is optional and my own opinion.

A real depiction of how small town gossip can affect you thru your life. Finding love and hoping that the love will overcome gossip (that isn’t even true)

This is beautiful, raw and honest. A book you can’t put down and want to know what’s next.
