Feisty Aunt Peg is an absolute delight! Great characters, a twisty plot and beautiful craftsmanship keep the pages turning. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next in the series. I started reading this series long ago when it first started and lost track of it a while back. I am glad I found it again. I fell right in step with the characters like I had not missed a beat. The plotline was well developed and kept me entertained througout

Another good read in this series. Combining two of my favourite things in life - dogs and reading! Yes it’s a light read but has all the elements you need, interesting characters that you can relate too plus enough of a mystery that you have enough questions to wonder who the murderer is. In addition to some great dog training & behaviour advice.

It's hard to believe this is book # 24 in the Melanie Travis cozy series. Dog lovers will love this book as Aunt Peg takes over Melanie's book club. They decide to call it Bite Club because they are going to concentrate on mysteries. The original 6 members head to Aunt Pegs for the monthly meeting and everyone from the dog shows is there to court Aunt Peg who is now a judge on the circuit. When Evan ends up dead someone is setting up Melanie as the major suspect. As always, a good mystery to solve. Can be read as a stand alone. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I love this series. When a new book in this series comes out, I will drop everything and start reading, As I always say when I review these books, you don’t have to be a dog owner to enjoy them. They are just great, fun, well written mysteries.

I always love Laurier Berenson titles and this is no exception. I love the book club element of the story and love getting to meet new characters as well as the long term characters.

This book had me at the cover! I have read several of the books in this series, this is book 23. I love Melanie and her merry band of cohorts both human and canine. Bite Club ( love the title) is a fine addition to the series. Hope there are plenty more Melanie books to come.

Protagonist Melanie, is a strong, educated woman, and the side characters are realistic, like her bossy Aunt Peg and the poodles are a great.
I really enjoyed this book, I found myself engrossed in the story and reading it in one sitting. It was entertaining, full of twists and turns as well as a few surprises. I even learnt something about Dog Shows.

I can't wait to read the others in the series, highly recommend to all dog lovers and cozy enthusiasts.

Evan Major is new in town. Thus, he is invited to a meeting of Melanie’s Bite Club Reading Group, a small number of Melanie’s close friends who formed a group to discuss books they all have read. Everyone likes that the group is small, so everyone can have a say and things can remain under control. Then, Aunt Peg becomes involved, and quickly doubles the number of members, much to everyone’s surprise. After the next meeting, everyone is shocked to find out that someone has murdered club member Evan Major. To complicate matters, Melanie, who had promised to help Evan learn how to care for the bull dog puppy he acquired, is fingered as a suspect, because she happened to be at his house during the time frame of the murder, at his request to further help him with his puppy. Thus, Melanie begins investigating just what happened to Evan and why he was murdered. The book follows several clues and red herrings, as Melanie pursues her goal. Naturally, the plot involves dog shows, dog handlers who show their dogs (who are also members of the Bite Club) and plenty of interaction by and with Melanie’s and Aunt Peg’s dogs, as Melanie ferrets out the true story of what happened and who is responsible. All this ends in a fascinating and interesting way, as usual in the books in these series.

I have read several of the books in this series, and I have thoroughly enjoyed each one. I like the way the author includes the dogs in the stories as more than props, so the reader can appreciate just how helpful dogs can be. I also enjoy the details the author provides about dog shows and how they run, as I had little idea how complex they were. The characters are, as usual, well done and colorful. Likewise, the plot will hold your interest as you follow along in this murder mystery. This is another good addition to the series, and I am sure all dog lovers and series lovers will find it definitely a good read. I received this from NetGalley to read and review.

This book made me laugh. I loved the main characters. This book was so entertaining that I read it in one sitting. I did not want to stop reading it until I turned the last pages. I want to continue reading book by this author, she is now a one click author for me. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.

Even though this is the 22nd book in the series (and I have only read one other) I soon found myself fully immersed in the plot and the characters. It was a good mystery, with plenty of suspects and motives all round. Of course the bossy Aunt Peg was my favorite character; the second such bossy Aunt that I've read in two days and enjoyed! She really comes through on the detecting front, leaving Melanie a little in her dust. Of course the poodles are a great interest grabber too; I especially loved Faith.

This was a fun, light hearted cozy with a continuing dog theme. You don't have to read the others to enjoy this one, but if they're of the same quality you will probably want to! Four stars :)

The author provides everything a reader needs to know about Melanie, her family, her dogs, and friends. Bite Club is well-written and progresses at a steady trot. Melanie Travis is married to Sam and has two kids: Davey and Kevin. Davey is thirteen and is acting as a handler for Aunt Peg’s latest poodle puppy, Coral. Kevin is an inquisitive and active four year old boy. Aunt Peg (she reminds me of one of my aunts) is an intimidating woman and dog show judge who frequently ropes Melanie into her schemes. When Evan Major is killed and Melanie is at the top of the suspect list, she sets out to learn more about the quiet man. The mystery was well-plotted with unexpected disclosures and a jaw dropping reveal. As an avid cozy mystery reader, I enjoy a complex whodunit. I enjoy the family interactions and how Melanie talks to Faith, her oldest poodle (and looks for a response). I like that it is not a picture perfect family. Melanie’s household is always lively with four people and six dogs. Dinner may not be served on time, groceries run low and there are messes from kids and animals, but the house is filled with love. This is what adds to the appeal of this charming series. The dog show information is told in a way for a layman to understand (which I appreciate). I was unaware of the intricacies of dog shows and all that goes into maintaining a Standard Poodles fur for competition. There is humor sprinkled throughout the story along with the antics of the adorable canines, the kids and Aunt Peg. Bite Club is an engaging cozy mystery with a friendly sleuth, energetic book discussions, loving husband, sweet kids, endearing dogs, one dead guy with an unexpected past, and bossy Aunt Peg.

This is the 23rd book in this beloved series. I have read the entire series and each book is delightful. Visiting Mealnie Travis and her family to me is like revisiting with old friends. I look forward to each new release and hope the series will continue . I highly recommend this series. Each book can be read as a stand alone.
Starting at the beginning of the series will give the new to this series reader a good background of the charcters.
Melanie is a Mother, a part time teacher, a wife and shows standard poodles. Part of the charm of this series is the show poodles that live with Melanie and her family. Her oldest poodle is Faith and is her constant companion and very endearing for all of us that love dogs. She has a quite bossy Aunt Peg who is featured in each book and does not suffer fools ! Aunt Peg is a long time well respected poodle breeder. Melanie and Peg are quite adept as solving murders together. Melanie has a nice second husband in Sam who features in the books also with poodles of his own and a supportive husband.

In this next in series Melanie has started a book club called "Bite Club". Of course Aunt Peg finds out and demands to take over . In doing so the attendees increase much to the chagrin of Melanie. When a murder occurs and Melanie is the prime suspect she must solve the murder to save her reputation and find the murderer. As this progresses I like the twist and turns that were pleasing to conclusion. The suspects abound yet Melanie with Peg's help is able to discover clues and find the right suspect.

This was a delight to read and a fun mystery. I like everything about this series as it has great long time charcters , fun dogs and always a good sleuth. I look forward to the next in series. Bite Club by Laurien Berenson is the 23rd book in the Melanie Travis mystery series, and another great addition. Reading this book made me feel like I was visiting good friends, and catching up on their latest adventure. Melanie started a book club called Bite Club and when her Aunt Peg the group, she takes over and doubles the a club members. When one of the members is found murdered in his home, the sleuthing begins. I love this series, and this book! I love the well developed characters and plot of this story. Melanie is very likable, with a fun sense of humor and funny how she deals with her Aunt Peg. This book kept my interest, and was fast paced and all round fun . I strongly recommend this book and this whole series, for people who love cozy mystery book, dogs, and show dogs.

I loved every page of the Bite Club by Laurien Berenson. This is an ongoing series featuring Melanie Travis who is a full time mom, teacher and also deeply involved in the world of dog judging. She has raised with the help of her meddlesome and formidable Aunt Peg. prize winning standard poodles.
I love the dynamics of her family.. Melanie has a wonderful adoring husband Sam, a teenage son from a previous marriage Davey and her youngest son Kevin.along with Peg and her BFF Terry, it is an entertaining group
The Bite Club is a mystery book club attended mainly by dog lovers. Aunt Peg worms her way in and basically takes over Melanie's new venture. At Peg's house during their meeting Melanie meets a shy and elusive man named Evan. He recently purchased a puppy and has no idea how to raise him. Melanie offers to help because she is simply a sucker for all types of dogs.
Mysteries and murders seem to constantly land at her feet much to poor Sam's distress. Evan is murdered and Melanie appears to be a suspect. While juggling her responsibilities she tries to clear her name, be immersed in the world of dog showing while also helping Terry and his life partner navigate around a serious misunderstanding. I especially loved Terry and how close he is to our intrepid dog handler.
I highly recommend this riveting and fun paced mystery and if you love dogs it's only a bonus. Happy reading!

I have long been a fan of this book series but BIte Club is just disappointing. The writing is disjointed and long-winded. It seems mean-spirited in places which I certainly do not remember from the other books in this series. All of the familiar characters are in this book but they just seem flat somehow, perhaps this series has gone on one book too many. Boo, I hate it when a beloved author disappoints.
I cannot recommend this book.
