It's been a while since I've read a really good suspenseful romance. Deadlock fit the bill perfectly. I am a new Cherrie Lynn fan and I loved this book. The instant chemistry between Jace and Lindsey had my kindle smoking from their first meeting. This one keeps you thinking and guessing until the end! Its pretty fast paced and the whole twins thing will have you guessing as well!

Deadlock is a unique twist on the enemies to lovers trope because Jace's enemy is actually the heroine's twin sister! So, there is a bit of an awkward meet cute for sure (Jace didn't know she had an identical twin)! But, its also a bit of a second chance romance. Jace might not have known about Lindsey, but Lindsey had admired him from afar. She was smitten, but too shy to ever approach him. Years have gone by, her sister ruined his life and got him kicked out of school, and now Lindsey is begging for help because Lena (the twin sister) is missing.

Fast paced is the name of the plot game here! Jace is a hacker and works with a group of "black ops" type people who all have special tech skills. He has never forgiven Lena and he is quite an ass to Lindsey. I get why he was mad-Lena got him kicked out of MIT! However, now he can't trust Lindsey because he is SURE this is another one of Lena's games. Lindsey can't trust anyone because she has no idea what is going on! She just thought her sister was flighty and gone a lot. Regardless of her feelings about Lena, she has to get her sister back safe!

Obviously, I am not going to give you too much info because that would ruin the book. You just need to know these two have a rocky start, Lena has some stuff she has been hiding from her family, there are lots of computer hacker info, and plenty of people who have dubious intentions. I thought the story was great and if you like danger and mystery, Deadlock will appeal to you for sure!

A steamy romance by Cherrie Lynn that will keep beach readers flipping pages and wishing they were part of the story.

This is Book 1 in the Hacker World series. I had a hard time getting interested in this one at the start of the book. It was just a little slow to me, but it picked up after a couple of chapters. It ended up being a very good book. Jace is a hacker and is considered to be the best at what he does. Then Lena knocks on his door. He has a very bad history with Lena and hates the ground she walks on. But the woman is really Lindsey, Lena’s sister. She needs his help to find Lena. Wow! That was a shock to Jace. There is a lot happening with the background being built up and then all kinds of people being involved. So be prepared for it not to be your usual fast paced suspense easy read romance book because this is nowhere close to that. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.

I’m a huge Cherrie Lynn fan and the premise of DEADLOCK as well as the hacker element involved in the story line lured me in as soon as I read the blurb. The fact that the main characters, Jace Adams and Lindsey Morris, have a history, even if it’s complicated due to Lindsey’s twin sister’s deception and betrayal, is also an element of the story that intrigued me because I was eager to see how Lena’s past led to Jace’s hacker career as well as how his disdain for her attaches itself to Lindsey when she comes looking for Jace’s help when Lena goes missing.

I can’t say that I blame Jace for his mistrust of Lindsey; Lena, in some ways, ruined his life and forced him to traverse down a much different path than the one he would have chosen for himself, and while it’s clear he’s found a family among the members of this elite team, the person responsible for betraying him and almost costing him everything is not someone he’s likely to forgive or forget.

The path that Jace and Lindsey take to ‘more’ is not simple nor is it immediate; in fact, it’s never clear what their true feelings are for one another because there’s too much baggage, too much doubt that comes along with Lindsey’s twin’s actions, so while they come to a truce/common ground, their journey is one thwarted with doubt, distrust, and danger.

While DEADLOCK does have the romantic element, it is not truly solidified throughout the course of the story, and in my opinion, because it’s the first book in a series with overarching plot lines and the suspense involved in this story is more prominent than what happens between Jace and Lindsey, it’s difficult to completely buy into a relationship actually happening - one that would be able to survive Jace’s initial treatment of Lindsey, his team’s issues with her and her twin, and those enemies working against all of them.

Lynn’s Hacker World series is an interesting one, and even though, I found it difficult to connect to the main characters in DEADLOCK, I’m still intrigued by Jace and his team and what they seek to do on a daily basis, and I’m hoping to get more of Jace and Lindsey and what they grow to mean to each other throughout the series’ other stories.

Deadlock by Cherrie Lynn is the first book in the Hacker World series. We are introduced to a team of elite military hackers. This story features Jace Adams and Lindsey Morris. Years ago, Lena, Lindsey’s sister, betrayed Jace, but now they need Jace’s help. The last thing Jace wants to do is help or put his team in any risk, but the enemy they face may be more dangerous than they thought.

Jace is strong and determined man, but also hated Lena for what she did to him. So, when Lindsey shows up asking for help, he wants nothing to do with her. Lindsey and Lena are twins, but total opposites. Lindsey is a coder who likes the quiet life she leads and though she and her sister do not always get along, she wants to help her. Though when they meet again, Jace wants nothing to do with either Morris sister, Jace and Lindsey cannot deny their chemistry. Can they save Lena before it’s too late?

Happy reading!

What a great start to a new Romantic Suspense Series. Full of mystery and intrigue, lies and hatred with a side of hot chemistry and instant attraction. A great group of secondary characters that will be instrumental in keeping the series going.

Lindsey is your ordinary computer geek. She tends to be quiet and stick to herself, gaming at home when not working on her computer writing some sort of code. Men and relationships have not come easy for her in the past but she is sure she will find the right person someday. Spending much of her time making excused for her twin Lena with her parents when she is off on another hiatus.

Jace has found his home finally after the shitstorm that was MIT and Lena Morris. Some time in the Air Forces and now working hard with his team of misfits. But they have formed a family that he never had and as much as they all get to one another on occasion he would want to be anywhere else. When a reminder of his past knocks on his front door, things begin to spin out of control.

Will Jace find it in him to believe and help Lindsey or has Lena's betrayal hardened him too much. Will he be able to suppress the instant attraction he has for her? Can Lindsey really be that different from her twin Lena? Will they be able to find her?

Ms Lynn leaves enough of a trail in the end, so we know there is definitely more to come from the Hacker World series. Excited to see what happens next. I will be watching and waiting.

From the very beginning this book drew me in and never let go. Twins Lena and Lindsey are as different as day and night. Lena is the devil may care person. Lindsey is the good girl that never does anything wrong. In the middle of this is Jace Adams, whom Lena destroyed and Lindsey fell for in college. Revenge is a dish served cold and Jace is now in a position to serve it. Danger is lurking. Who can trust who?

A romantic suspense, Deadlock is the start of the Hacker World series. I like the premise and the story but did feel at times the story was overtaken by the romance and loss a little of it balance. In saying that did I enjoy it, yes, will I read more, most definitely

I found this book to be intriguing. I loved the set up of Lindsey’s twin sister (Lena) going missing but leaving a message for Lindsey to ask Jace to help find her was good enough. But, oh wait, Lena betrayed Jace and pretty much ruined his life (although it seems to me that the path he ended up on was better for him). And, oh wait again, Lindsey had a crush on Jace back when they were in college together. It all makes for a well-crafted plot. The slow burn between Jace and Lindsey was delicious. And the revelations towards the end made me eager for the rest of the books about the Nest – especially Helix because he cracked me up. This was a page-turner of a romance, and I look forward to more! Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing, and the author for a complimentary pre-release digital ARC of this book.

4 stars

I love a good spy/hacker book so I was intrigued by the story from this new to me author, Cherrie Lynn. This story was a really enjoyable read, despite the fact that I like a little more romance with my suspense. (They dance around each other but barely kiss by the 60% mark.)

Jace has every reason in the world not to trust the woman who shows up at his door, his mostly untraceable door, wearing the face of the woman who ruined his life. This unknown woman, Lindsey Morris claims to be the mousy twin sister to his nemesis, Lena. At first, he doesn't believe her sister is in danger, as they spend more time together he senses her sincerity and fear. Lindsey appears to be Lena's today opposite; shy and awkward to Lena's confident, brash demeanor. While he doesn't trust her, they're thrust together while searching for clues to Lena's whereabouts. In getting to know get, he finds himself more and more drawn to her and begins to fear it's his own judgement he shouldn't trust. Is she as genuine as she seems or is she just another great actress like her duplicitous sister?

I really enjoyed the story line and as an identical, mirror twin (we look alike but are total generic opposites), it was easy for me to buy into how different the twins were. I do wish iti been heavier on the romance but I'm intrigued by the "team" and want to know more about their mission, etc so I'll tune in for the next installment.

I received an advance copy of Deadlock by Cherrie Lynn through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I quickly got immersed in the story and pretty much read the book in one sitting. There is romance, cyber attacks, and espionage. Apparently this is the first book in a series. I look forward to the next installment. Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to preview this book.

I don't normally read suspense but I was hooked from start to finish. Cherrie does it again!!

Jace and Lena are explosive and the book contained the right amount of passion and angst. Could not put it down and I highly recommend. Can't wait for the next !!

This was okay. I wanted more romance and connection between Lindsey and Jace. There was some chemistry but it wasn’t enough to get me excited about this couple. It was really hot when they finally gave into their feelings, but that lack of intense chemistry still left me wanting. The ending was also kind of lackluster with an epilogue leading into the next book. I’m not sure whether I’ll continue this series even though there’s a larger story encompassing the whole series.

Cherri Lynn is a new to me author but I am totally hooked!

Deadlock is the first book in her new Hacker World Series and it’s black hat vs white hat at its best! Jace Adams has good reason to mistrust Lindsey Morris but he seems to be the only person she can trust.

I loved the dynamic between Jace and Lindsey and the struggle to figure out who could and couldn’t be trusted. Lindsey has several moments of WTF that felt so real, as opposed to other suspense novels where the heroine never questions anything. Jace was a bit intense at times but his backstory played a role in that, and I’m hoping we get more of that as the series continues. The two of them together pushed their comfort zones but also created really sweet moments, the Legend of Zelda scene was perfect! The suspense and romance were well balanced and the steam level was spot on for the action of the book. I’m very excited to see where the series goes and exactly what role Lena did play in the MIT incident!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

I have adored the Cherrie Lynn books I have read in the past (I mean, hellllooooo Ghost!) and I was intrigued by the hacker aspect of Deadlock, so it wasn't a hard decision to make to request Deadlock.

And whilst I liked this story, I didn't love it. I had trouble connecting with the characters, and mostly found them annoying and not really likable.

To me, Jace was just a d!ck, Lena a b!tch and Lindsey, whilst completely capable, a bit of a door mat to her sister - have I said how much of a b!tch I thought she was. But this could just be me.

I was intrigued by the hacker elements of the story - I am so tech stupid most of it flew right over my head.

So, whilst I didn't love Deadlock, I did like it enough that I will read more of the series in the future.

A different twin comes a calling…

This is the first book in the Hacker World series that can be read as a stand-alone.

There are people in life that you don’t forget, like the ones who betray you. In college, at MIT, Jace Adams fell for a pretty face and hacked into the educational records system to change her grades. He wouldn’t have been found out but that pretty face turned him in and he was booted out, his aspirations ruined. Contacted by a clandestine government agency afterward was a welcome happenstance, or was it? When that woman shows up at his door years later his anger at the woman revives with a vengeance. When she says that she’s not who he thinks she is, that she’s the betrayer’s twin and needs his help to find her missing sister he’s not sure he should believe her. Why should help the woman who betrayed him? That the twin was able to track him down was problematic and requires looking into.

As usual Lindsey Morris’ sister who had promised to help with their parent’s anniversary is not to be found. Should she worry? Not until an odd text stating that Lena’s in trouble and asking her to go to an unknown address did she worry. When she gets there the man who answers the door is none other than the man her sister betrayed, the man she had a crush on in college, he didn’t know she existed then. His rage at seeing her is understandable but she needs his help to find her sister whose apartment was ransacked and a friend of her sister that she didn’t know was asking questions.

There is more to the sister than her family knows, Jace’s connections apprised him of certain facts he can’t divulge to Lindsey. Together with some, not much, help from Jace’s friends these two search for the missing Lena, Jace fighting the attraction he feels for the twin he hadn’t known in college and who’s also capable with computers. The main protagonists were likable, their chemistry was not that palpable, the heroine could have been stronger in terms of confidence, and with all the bitterness Jace had his trust issues were quite understandable if a little overdone.

The romance in this story overpowered the intriguing hacker plot that didn’t get enough attention to satisfy this reader. A few meetings where the participants mainly argued didn’t really provide a good feeling for the potential of the group. The level of suspense was minimal, a slight tease that detracted from what could have been an exciting plot if done differently. Though the book ending didn’t surprise what this reader had already surmised it was an interesting development but I’m not sure I’ll continue with this series.

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

When Lindsay goes to Jace for help to find her twin sister, Jace thinks that Lindsay is Lena and wants nothing to do with her - the person who ruined his future. But he soon realizes that although the twins are identical, they are nothing alike and he can't help that he is attracted to Lindsay. Lindsay has had a crush on Jace since they were back in college when her sister ruined his life. Seeing him now, after all these years, Lindsay can't deny that she is more attracted to him than ever. And hopefully she'll be able to convince him to help her find her sister.

This book is full of suspense, drama and romance. I loved how even thought Jace is considered a genius, he just couldn't understand his attraction to someone who looks exactly like the person who ruined his life ... the heart wants what the heart wants! And WOW the steam between them could burn the sheets! The author set up the series nicely by introducing you to the other members of the Jace's team ... and you just know that they all have their own stories. A great start to a new series.

Wow! I hadn't read a book by Cherrie Lynn, but I liked this one! I was caught up in the cat and mouse and "where will the story go" the entire book! Holy cow there is a lot going on in this book and it was a perfect set up for the books to come! I can't for the books to come. Lindsey's twin (Lena) is hiding secrets and has sent a message to Lindsey to go to an address for help. The address of Jace, the boy that Lena got kicked out of school. Needless to things, Jace and Lindsey had a rough start that is for sure! Throughout the book, you don't know who to trust, what is going on. It was fast paced and kept me on my toes and there were twists and turns I wasn't expecting. Jace was a good hero, I did get mad at him a couple of times because of his doubts about Lindsey but I did kind of get of because of the damage Lena did to him....but I still wanted to smack him. Lindsey, I just thought she grew as a character and in the end she became the badass.

The secondary characters were all great and the bad guy is a real bad guy....This book does have a conclusion but the underlying story does not end. That doesn't bother me, and I don't consider it a cliffhanger, I could stop reading now and be content....okay not really because I like the storyline and characters :) But, I don't think you will feel like you are left on a cliffhanger. Now, lets just get book two out!!!!
