Well that was a very intense read. Like...every parents worst nightmare come true. Or is it??? Very highly recommend thisnis you want a story to pull you in and submerge you in suspicion and intrigue.
I did it again. 😊 I have read book 2 and 3 and now I have finished book 1. I am very weird, I know, but it does not hurt, so why not? 😉
Normally in book 1 you get to know the new police team. I now had the advantage of knowing them already. I could fully focus on the story. You see, being weird has some good points too. 😊
It’s always a tragedy when someone you love goes missing. I am convinced that it must be even more heart-breaking when it is a small child that has disappeared. An adult can maybe try and defend himself or find ways to try and escape, but what can a little mite do? Not very much and that makes it more emotional.
And in times of deep sadness and anxiety, who can you always count on? Right, that one true friend you have known for years. She would do anything to help and support you, because that’s what friends are for.
Maybe this was not a case Rachel should have worked on because of the emotional connections she feels. It might even have muddled her brain a bit and maybe she did not exactly do the best investigation. What matters most though is that in the end the baddies are were they belong, but maybe the mystery could have been solved a bit sooner? We will never know. 😊
Anyway I really enjoyed the story and I know the next books will be amazingly good. 4 stars.
Thank you
Omg......... this book was amazing I flew threw the pages with Olympic speed I was hooked from the very first page. I found it full of twists and turns threw out and it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way threw I would defiantly recommend this book if you like a good book to keep you reading threw the night hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did
I love DCI Rachel Hart! She is a totally intriguing heroine and I hope there are many more titles to follow this. If you like a good police procedural read this!
I thought that I figured it out what happened at the beginning but then I found out I was wrong. This is solid detective drama but mainly we see other characters thought . The book keeps you guessing all the time as we don’t actually know who done it!
The story was told in more than one voice at least 3/4 characters, I found it bit strange as I am not used to it but I got used it shortly after.
I can see this is the beginning of series as we see hints of the detective past and how that effects her now .
I hope we here more from the detective and less from the other characters . This is solid thriller , I didn’t know who done it until the end .
In times it frustrated me as I was shouting on the police that kept missing things.
It had satisfying ending.
I received a digital arc of this from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I haven't come across this author before but will definitely be looking out for more books in this series. I loved this one and couldn't put it down. I did guess who was behind the disappearance of Cassie but I didn't work out the motive. It kept me intrigued until the last page and the short chapters really helped to keep my interest and keep me reading 'just one more chapter' lol. Can't wait to read more books by this author.
Wonderfully addictive! Fast paced storyline that has you enthralled. Well thought out characters that are believable and relatable.
Enjoyed so much that already purchased this and others from the author
An intriguing start to a new series.
I’m already looking forward to the next instalment.
I finished this in 2 days. I enjoyed it though not quite so thrilling as it could have been. I’m keen to discover more about DCI Rachel Hart.
Naomi and Charlie have separated ...actually Naomi threw her husband out when she learned he had a one-night stand with the one woman she could never forgive him for.
Things are bad enough, but their young daughter goes missing sometime during the night. Naomi had given in and taken a sleeping pill to help her sleep and when she finally woke up Cassie was gone. There are signs that Cassie left on her own ... but did she really?
As the days pass with no sighting of Cassie, Detective Rachel Hart starts taking a closer look at the family and friends. Perhaps the mother accidentally hurt her daughter and she's covering. Maybe the dad has taken her and hidden her away. Naomi's best friend could have a motive, as well as the husband's girlfriend. Or was this a total random kidnapping?
Detective Hart senses something wrong within the family. She's discovered holes in their stories.... but are they lying about where their daughter is?
This is a solidly written plot full of twists and turns and pointing fingers that make this a fast paced page turner. The characters are skillfully drawn and the ending was an unexpected surprise.
Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
Holy cow! I was literally hooked from the get go! I loved how the story played out... I had an inkling of who the 'bad guy' was but then it twisted! Literally read this in 2 sittings 😂
I was so scared for cassie when the events changed. But the ending was good thankfully! Really has you an edge though! I would definitely recommend giving this a read 😊
Whew, what a ride. This is a novel that will not only make you feel every emotion possible, you will doubt everyone and everything. Infidelity is at the heart of the problem for Naomi and Charlie. Then their child Cassie goes missing. Just like that. Could the parents have hidden her away? The problem is the story is so well told that you yourself have no idea who the culprit is. Then we meet DCI Rachel Hart. She is tough, fierce and will ing to get the answer we are all looking for. You will feel like you are on a thrill ride. The ups and downs will keep you wanting more. J.G. Roberts is one hell of a storyteller you won’t want to miss.
A huge Thank You to The author, The publisher and Netgalley for providing the e-arc in exchange for a unbiased review of these works.
A diffcult topic to write around, every parents worst nightmare but the story was engaging thrilling and kept me hooked
Stories with plot lines around children are hard to read. The question in the back of your mind: Will they find her? Was she hurt? Will she be alive? Etc. They always put me on edge. This thriller was no different. I found the plot to be really intense throughout and thread many lines of doubt through various characters. This is one of the things I love about police procedural. You never know who to trust and just as you think you have it figured out; BAM! Plot twist!
I loved it! This is the first in the series and I’m sure I’ll be reading the rest!
God it’s a parents worse nightmare having your kid go missing, and it was hard to read in places as it was so heart wrenching for them! Full of tension and action and plenty of twists you will be turning pages well into the early hours.
Loved the lead detective in this new series DCI Rachel Hart, and I’m patiently awaiting the next in the series!!!! Get a shape on JG Roberts!!!!
Fantastically written. Gripping and thrilling from page one. With action from the start and complicated relationships, what's not to like?!
This is the first book in a new series featuring DCI Rachel Hart, and I can't wait to read some more of her endeavors!
The book starts off with a bang, with a young mother discovering that her little girl has gone missing. Everyone is a suspect, and I even started suspected a few of my own! The ending was done well, and ended a real thrilling ride on a high. Highly recommended.
Oh I do love a new series. This is a book that you get into from the first page. Little Cassie goes missing and so begins the reader being taken down so many blind paths before the totally unexpected villain is exposed. D I Rachel Hart leads the team and we get a first glimpse of her back story - a subplot and character with lots move to give . You know you’re going to love this series when you open a new collection on your Kindle for it
A family is struggling to deal with the after effects of infidelity when five year old Cassie disappears. It is difficult for the parents to avoid playing the blame game and both are suspects according to the police.
Has Naomi’s stress made her do something unforgiveable? Have Charlie and his mum taken drastic action to be allowed to see Cassie after 5 weeks apart?
DCI Hart and her colleagues need to sieve through the evidence as it becomes increasingly likely that Cassie has been abducted. There are also hints throughout the book of Rachel’s own past which may be influencing her actions and responses to the case.
I felt that a few of the interrogation questions were a bit clunky and jarred slightly as I read them but this could have been the effect the author was trying to convey (the police making the suspects uncomfortable). Other than that, the plot, characters and narrative were fabulous and realistic.
There are some key turning points in Little Girl Missing as JG Roberts expertly guides her readers towards and expected outcome before swiftly revealing a new direction.
The disappearance and the agonising wait for news is well described and as a parent, horrifically believeable. I did guess some of the big twist but this didn’t spoil my enjoyment of the book at all as I liked seeing how and why the plot concluded as it did.
A fast paced thriller that kept me turning the pages! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an advanced reading copy.
This was quite a good book. In some detective stories you can pick the offender, but in this one it was different. It didnt really focus on the detective work it was more on the crime. It could actually pass as a thriller. It had you wanting more which is a sign of a good book if you ask me!!
