It wasn't until the last 3 chapters when I started to cry, I still had hope all the way through and then there was a cruel twist of reality. This book is just so and too realistic. It is gorgeous but so heart breaking and the emotions I feel. As much as I love books as an escapism sometimes some books just hit you so hard, and this one does just that. I mean the title of the book is fair warning.
I loved Nathan and Emma, their story was awesome and so sad. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone but they are a couple of people that you want to be around and that you want to wrap in cotton wool.
The audiobook is so short and it's still not enough. I wanted more, I wanted 999 days, 9999 days!!
The tears just won't stop! Gah!! I honestly thought I might get away with it!
It is just so beautiful, and wonderful and all that's in between. It will make you look at life and realise that it is way too short and it's for living.
I don't want to say anything else, just read it, and have the tissues nearby.
Every day you get up, go to work, come home and go to sleep. And a lot of those days you waste time complaining or not living life to the fullest. Why? Because you just don’t stop and think. Think how precious life is and the people surrounding you.
People work to earn money, which is normal of course. You need it to survive, but do you have to work so many hours or do you need that newest model of cell phone or car? Maybe you should take a step back, enjoy life, your family, your friends because no matter how hard it is to see these words on paper, it is true. Life can be snatched away from you, in the blink of an eye.
Think about those times, when someone asked you something and you did not feel like doing it. You found an excuse to say no. Maybe you should say yes the next time and enjoy the moment.
Cherish the love you have. Some people are lucky to have each other for decades. Others are not so blessed and only are allowed to spend 99 days together.
And then you can give up or you can finalise a project your loved one started. Which one would you pick?
I am an emotional person, sometimes. There are things that grab me by the throat and make me cry. It can be happy tears or sad tears. An athlete who wins something after a massive effort can bring tears to my eyes and have me crying a river. Stories like this one have the same effect on me. I could hold back in the beginning but at a certain point emotions took over and tears were rolling down my cheeks.
This story makes you think about life. It was very beautiful. 5 stars
Thank you
Emma Wood and Nathan Foxdale meet in a hospital waiting room, Emma’s rather shy, and she shocked when a handsome stranger starts talking to her. Both are really nervous, attending their medical appointments alone and Nathan asks Emma if she would like some moral support and she can return the favor.
Emma’s a librarian, she looks after her disabled mother Carole and has never had a boyfriend. She has a best friend Alice, together they run a support group for young people who are caring for sick loved one's and missing out on their teenage years.
Nathan’s a sky diving instructor, he does tandem jumps from fifteen thousand feet, he lives his life at a fast pace and he’s a bit of a maverick. Nathan's mother passed away when he was a baby, he was raised by his grandparents and he doesn’t get on with his half-brother Marcus.
While waiting for their results, Nathan takes Emma to see the Puffins and Emma introduces him to her mother Carole. Emma and Nathan are the complete opposites, they vow to not waste an hour of whatever time they have and they fall in love. Nathan senses he doesn’t have long in this world, and together they create a foundation called Everlasting Acts and unfortunately Nathan's right.
I received a copy of 99 Days with You from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review, I haven’t cried so much since I read A Walk To Remember, Catherine Miller’s book is beautifully written, poignant, I highly recommend reading it and you will need a big box of tissues, and five stars from me.
Emma and Nathan are meant to be- or not. This is a sad but well done tale of two very different personalities who are bound by tragedy. A good read but only if you're prepared.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.
After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.
I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.
Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.
This is a beautifully heartwrenching book which both breaks your heart and inspires you to live every hour of every day to the absolute maximum.
I wanted to like this story, I seriously did. I am a fan of heart-break and doomed relationship stories. But this whole story just felt so off. I just couldn't connect with Emma and Nathan. I couldn't connect to their feelings as well. It was just so daunting right from the get-go. Nathan's character development and the plot were a little too abrupt for me.
It began well, with them meeting in the waiting room and being there for each other. I liked the start, but after that, it felt like the author was trying to fit a love story in the time crunch. They are loners, hardly any family, no friends during their time of need.. just too much depressing. It's obvious that they would strike some kind of relationship. I think that created a disconnect with me. They felt too much, went out of the way too much.. just within 99 days. I mean, I get it, you really don't have the time to do things grand when time is limited, but their connection felt unreal to me. It didn't feel natural. But I've seen plenty of good ratings for this one, so don't mind me.
I will give an extra star for Nathan's final ride and the charity in his name.
Moving emotional heart wrenching. Two people meeting under difficult circumstances a book that calls for tissues close at hand.Fans of Jo jo Moyes will love this book a book I was drawn right into love the characters the story highly recommend.#netgalley#bookoutture.
A really lovely heartwarming book with just loveable characters. About two lonely souls who come together in a difficult situation and about their bond and story. An easy (but sad) read
This was certainly a moving, emotional and inspirational story. It had the potential to rip my heart out and hand it to me while laughing maniacally. Somehow, though, it didn't quite get all the way there for me. Oh trust me, it caused a few tears for sure, but it felt...what's the word I'm looking for...maybe contrived, meant to pull on my heartstrings, mechanical almost. I just didn't quite get the connection, the jolt of love and devastation I might have expected. And I suppose that's good, because one only has so many tissues they should be allotted. If you like a heart-wrenching story with a hopeful message about never wasting even an hour of your life, then grab a few of your allotted tissues and jump on into these pages.
This is a very emotional book with a powerful lesson to make the most of every moment. It is a beautiful story of life and love and reminded me of JoJo Moyes' Me Before You. An excellent first novel and I will look out for new books from this author. Highly recommended
This was a super touching read with a great message to live by - don’t waste one second of your life!
I knew from the description of this book that it’d be one to make me cry. And boy did I bawl.
It was a fantastic uplifting moving story about taking chances when it seems you’re almost out of options.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was such a heartwarming novel! Yes it was very emotional, but the message was overwhelmingly positive. I also really liked the way it was written, with alternating chapters from both characters as well as diary entries. I thought this was really unique, and it made it even more gripping.
I don't want to say too much about the plot, as this is one of the rare books where the synopsis doesn't give away all of the important bits of the novel, but I will say it is a bit more sad than you might guess from the back. That isn't to say that it's depressing though, although I guess to some others it might be. I personally did find it quite sad, but also very moving, and finished feeling very emotionally satisfied.
99 Days With You, may just be the best book I have read all year! It is such a heartwarming story. You feel so much emotion while reading it, but come away with such inspiration, and the zeal to live each day to the fullest. I am so glad I read this book and highly recommend it.
Great book with a powerful message! .
When two cancer patients fall in love you get this gut feeling that something is going to end well. This book is not all about the happily ever after but more about the message of living each day to the fullest.
Wow what can I say about this book other than it was amazing. I loved it from the first page to the last. This book broke my heart and I shed a few tears but it was also hugely uplifting too.
This book is a thought provoking heart breaking love story
Oh my goodness, it has been a while since a book touched my heart the way this one did! I knew from the blurb that it would be an emotional read, and it was, but it ran the whole gamut of emotion; from elation to despair.
Nathan and Emma are two people who meet in a clinic waiting room because they both have a lump that needs investigating. Nathan is a daredevil, works as a skydiver and doesn't think much beyond today. Emma is a carer for her mum and is a part-time librarian. These two have nothing in common but somehow they become each others "person" and it is beautiful.
I won't go into too much more detail, but this book really makes you think about what is important in life, that's for sure.
5 heartfelt stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.
I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I really don't know why I even choose to read this book but I just didn't like Nathan or Emma. I had a hard time following and it was just too depressing especially Emma and her mom both with serious health issues.
Heart wrenching and uplifting all at once. 99 Days with You will leave you crying ugly tears and vowing to live life to the fullest. Reminiscent of Jojo Moyes, Me before You, this epic love story will stay with you long after the story ends. 4 stars.
I don't know why I chose this on Netgalley. I don't like tearjerkers. I think I thought it might be one of those uplifting cancer books that is actually a good read, but it turned out to be mostly really depressing and sad. If you like crying, then go for it. If not, I suggest avoiding it. This might seem like a short and harsh review, but for me personally, that's pretty much the crux of it.
