this book takes you straight into the story which did throw me a little and i spent most of the book feeling like i was playing catch up and not really knowing what was going on
it was a good story but i just felt a little bit rushed into it
Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
While the description and premise of this book sounded fun, I just couldn't get into it once I started reading.
This book jumps straight into the story from page one, some people like that and others don’t. I really like not having to read through a bunch of fluff before getting to the action so I really appreciated that aspect.
Hannah and Joel’s love story is a beautiful story and equally as heartbreaking. As I read this I got physically sick because I felt so terrible for Hannah. The ending was no surprise and I kinda had a feeling of what Hannah would do throughout the book, but over all I enjoyed it.
Three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you NetGalley and Amazon publishing (lakeunion) for the e-copy of this book.
This book is not something I would normally pick- I’m more of a thriller girl & Beside Herself is a contemporary romance- ish book!
I did enjoy it - and it was a basically smooth, quick read with pretty much zero surprises!
When Hannah finds out her husband cheated on her, she decides to get even and cheat also while she’s trying to decide if she can forgive Joel (her husband) or not .
I found this book to be heartwarming although I didn’t really connect very deeply with Hannah and kind of liked her father in law and friends better !
It dragged a bit for me -at times but I did enjoy Hannah’s dating antics. Overall it was a decent read but I’m not sure I will be so quick to request another in this genre anytime soon !
Thanks to NetGalley, publishers & as always authors. I would recommend this book to fans of contemporary women’s fiction even though it wasn’t really for me!
It's well written but not my cup of tea. I couldn't connect to the characters and the book fell flat.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
I really enjoyed this book, the first I have read by this author. I liked the characters, especially Hannah and Micheal, though I have to say I did get a little frustrated with her in the middle of the book when she refused to talk to Joel and kept on her “getting back at him by having her own affair” mission. I liked the friendship she had with Reuben and also Kim. Following her journey in coming to terms with what Joel done and realising what she has, was a lesson to us all. A nice easy read and I would like to seek out more by this author. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
What do you do when you find out your husband has cheated on you?
This novel examines the effects on the Joel, Hannah and their family when Hannah discovers what happened some months ago.
What would someone in Hannah’s shoes do? She slowly works through many emotions and then decides to give Joel a taste of his own medicine.
It is difficult to make an interesting story about the thousand and one thoughts that must be running through Hannah’s head in this situation. I’m not sure this story managed it.
I’m sorry but I could not finish this book. In the first few pages Joel cheated on hannah. Plot lacks.
I was drawn to this book the moment I saw the description. Can a marriage survive after one mistake? How to pass though it and still stay solid? Can a betrayal actually be forgotten?
Hannah and her husband had it all...Up until she saw the texts from another woman. He is sorry, but....what now?
Good premise and an interesting read...A wonderful insight on a moment in life when things could go either way, yours is only to choose with what can you live with.
A sincere thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Family life,, a cheating husband and a wife who must decide whether she can live with the indiscretion and save their marriage. Our main character goes through many emotions while on this journey until a long buried secret comes to light that helps her move forward. This was a well written, quick read and I enjoyed it.
I loved this book! Topical subject for this day and age and dealt with with a mix of humour and sensitivity. Excellent!
This started out good but just fell a little flat for me. I never really connected with Hannah and wasn’t sure how I felt about any of the characters. All in all I enjoyed it and thankful for the advanced readers copy!
Good book and easy enough to read. Pacing sometimes a bit slow but the characters were interesting to keep me reading to the end
This one was a wonderful read! I really enjoyed it!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for my ARC. All opinions are my own.
What a brilliant book. This book has a fantastic story line, excellent characters and is just wonderful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and I enjoyed it immensely.
A wonderful read a marriage a husbands affair a wife’s idea a revenge affair..A look at marriage life finding happiness. This author has a wonderful style of writing bringing her characters and stories alive.Highly recommend.#netgalley #lakeunionpublishing.
I enjoyed this book.
An insight to a mistake made in a marriage. Not all couples overcome this, but Hannah managed to. After much doubt and wanting to get her own revenge back, she decided her marriage needed to stay alive and work through it.
Thank you for allowing me to read this.
Beside Herself has all the components for a witty summer romance read. Readers are quickly introduced to Hannah, who finds out that Joel has had a recent affair while traveling for work. Joel is desperate to repair their marriage and after many failed attempts at marriage counseling, Hannah makes a unique suggestion; she should have her own affair. Beside herself follows Hannah as she attempts to navigate the dating world, as a married woman, and seeks to find the perfect match for her affair. Clearly, Hannah’s plan has many flaws and readers are swept along to watch. I rooted for Hannah and Joel, as a woman in my mid-thirties, this book was relatable. Kids take up a lot of time, careers take up time and marriage takes work. I found it difficult to root for Hannah’s success, although I wasn’t sure what I was really hoping for (reconciliation? Divorce?). Beside Herself is ultimately about dealing with betrayal, learning to trust and forging ahead when your future is suddenly very different than you imagined it.
A sincere thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was not really for me it has to do with an affair and all that it comes with in a marriage but I tried to get into it and I couldn’t
It went straight into the story too quickly, there was no build up and no chance to get to know the characters first. Hard to connect to the front, to connect to the characters.Needs some work on the build up.
