This book was interesting and educational. I can't speak to the long term benefits, but they're definitely feeling good for now.

2.5 Stars (I received an e-arc from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review)

This book was ok, one thing that annoyed me to no end was when the author kept referring to her method by it's name in full every single time she is talking about face yoga. I will be trying out some of the exercises, though first 35% of the book is all dry facts relating to face yoga, rather than disperse information throughout the book.

The benefits of a face lift without the pain or expenses.

This book is wonderful. Danielle Collins shows and explains how to tighten your forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, jaw and neck. Who knew that an exercise which involves tilting your head and touching the roof of your mouth with your tongue could reduce turkey neck?

Before explaining the exercises, the author takes time to discuss our bodies and the things that make us age. This is an invaluable tool in helping the reader feel younger and look better.

I received an ARC from Watkins Publishing through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

I must admit that I wasn't entirely sure about this book but was attracted by the fact that it is essentially about yoga for the face, and I was pleasantly surprised when it was evident that the author had extensive knowledge of health, beauty and lifestyle which she incorporates into the book. Not only is Ms Collins a World leading Face Yoga Expert, but she is also a renowned authority in Yoga, Nutrition and Wellbeing and it really shows.

Face Yoga has been scientifically proven to help you look younger in a study by North Western University in Chicago and by doctors in the BBC1 documentary ‘Twinstitute’. It will take rather a while to see results from these quick and easy exercises if there are any benefits or changes to the face at all, but I guess if yoga works on the body there's no reason why it wouldn't have an impact on the facial muscles too.

Rather than a book merely about the benefits of face yoga, there is lots of other helpful information, hints and tips and all are presented in manageable bite-sized chunks for simple digestion. This is the type of book that is more of a reference guide than a "read from cover to cover" affair and I was pleasantly surprised by just how comprehensive it was. I think this would be a great addition to the library of someone looking for a way to improve their facial appearance without spending a small fortune on lotions and potions or cosmetic surgery. Many thanks to Watkins Publishing for an ARC.

I admit that I was skeptical about Face Yoga, as I thought it wouldn't make a difference. However, after doing the exercises in this book for a few weeks, I can see a difference in my face.

I wish I could have resonated with the book as much as I wanted to, but I found the entire concept a lot more silly than I thought it would be. However, I have to say that the images were very clear, and her instructions were well thought through, even if it is not a program I will follow in the future.

A short but intriguing book of yoga-based exercises for the many muscles in your face. Collins applies the principles of yoga to the neglected muscles of face & neck with exercises that are easy and that will relieve tension and pressure.

Additional chapters cover healthy living and diet.

Although I was not convinced by the 'YOGA' connection, the exercises in the book were very good. Great for anyone on a beauty level wanted to make some improvements without surgery or expensive salon treatments. Brilliant for paralysis sufferers and as a feel good tool. The book is well written and the instructions are good and clear. Overall a good book for a small market. Thank You

Before reading this book I was not familiar with face yoga. As a yoga practictioner I was intrigued by the title and by the possible benefits of this type of yoga.

The author provides techniques and tips in order to improve different areas of your body (neck, eyes, forehead, jaw, cheeks).
You could follow a plan for an hour or a for few minutes a day according to your availability.

The book describes the technicalities of the different massages and techniques for acupressure, however I would have loved few more images to describe in more details the various steps. I personally struggled a little bit to learn the right way to perform the correct pressure.

I would also loved to know more about the story behind the birth of this type of yoga, how it could help to connect the beauty part with the spiritual one opposed to massages for beauty purpose only.

I’ve wanted to learn about face yoga, or face exercises for years. I love the fact Danielle has laid out a plan for all times, five minutes to 50, with a very detailed description for each exercise. Can’t wait to get started.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.

To be completely honest, I was not familiar with Danielle Collins and her Face Yoga techniques before reading this book. As someone who does practice yoga, I was curious as to what this mysterious practice was all about.

“Face Yoga is a combination of face exercises, massage, acupressure and relaxation techniques that are designed to lift, firm, smooth, and relax the face to improve your overall wellbeing” (to quote directly from the book).

On the surface, it is a superficial practice meant to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, give you a youthful glow, and tighten and tone sagging skin. Many people believe that when you look good you feel good and vice a versa, but here is where my issue lies with this book. If you are only using yoga for vanity, then I think it defeats the purpose of what is supposed to be spiritual balancing practice. Anyone who knows anything about the mind body connection will know that our muscles and tissues store our emotions, and when you work those muscles you are able to release them. This is where I felt Danielle Collins missed the mark. I felt she did not go into enough depth about the benefits of Face Yoga. Sure it can make you look better, but what about the deeper metaphysics of it? What types of emotions are we storing in our facial muscles? Why are we storing them in our face? What are the spiritual meaning of wrinkles or acne? What is happening to us on an emotional level when we perform Face Yoga?

Danielle spent a little too much time outlining skincare techniques and how to care for our skin instead of focusing on the more spiritual aspects of Face Yoga. I also felt the book needed more pictures of the exercises because at times I didn’t understand how to perform the exercises from her written instructions. What I will also say, is that whenever you are doing any type of acupressure on the body, you stimulate a detoxification process, and if you are doing this on your face, you can actually cause more break outs. As someone who has used jade facial rollers in the past, let me tell you, you can get some nasty breakouts and in some cases, make your skin look worse.

On a positive note, I do appreciate aesthetics, and I love how her techniques are being used for those with facial paralysis and stroke victims as I feel great success can be achieved with her exercises.

Maybe Danielle’s purpose of her book was to only outline her techniques without going into too much depth about the metaphysics of yoga and the mind body connection, but afterall, beauty is skin deep.
