What an entertaining story this was! It's perfect for fans of Shakespeare. And Blixt created the historical framework in such a way that those with scant knowledge of this period in history will also be able to immerse themselves in the story.
This wasn't something I would have usually picked up to read but I really enjoyed the storyline. It kept me gripped throughout.
Will Shakespeare and Kit Marlowe are spies in 1586, who uncover a plot to kill Queen Elizabeth I.
This is a playful romp in Elizabethan England, at a time before Shakespeare seriously put pen to paper, and we are given a little glimpse of what might have been.
I like a little bit of "piss taking" especially when it is done well. This farce does not take itself too seriously, and neither should the reader. Just go with the flow and enjoy it!
