This was one of those books that when you finish reading, you are thankful your family is boring. It was a wild ride that kept me hooked.
I would definitely suggest this book!

Really enjoyed this. It's well-written, captivating, and horrifying. I love the main character! While I don't usually like novels with different narrators, I enjoyed the swapping of viewpoints in this novel. Highly recommend to mystery/thriller readers who are bored of everything they've been reading lately. This one is different and definitely worth the read!

A twisty, creepy read that kept me guessing all the way to the end (and I'm still not entirely sure). I've been reading Lisa Jewell since her chick lit days and I've been so interested to see her turn to mystery-suspense. She keeps me on my toes and the pacing is always so good.

Secrets, drama, and 3 murdered people within first few chapters! Obviously this is a recipe for a fabulous Lisa Jewell thriller! LOVED IT!

I have loved almost everything I've read by Lisa Jewell and I like how her books incorporate some really good thrills and plot twists but I also like how they have family drama that almost always touches on a very dark side.
While this wasn't my favorite book she's written, I still did enjoy it. It kept my attention throughout the whole book with all of its twists and turns and crazy things that went on. I really enjoyed how it bounced between different characters and between the past and the present, it made the book a lot more interesting and I feel like I get more information that way.
The only thing I didn't like about this book was I expected more out of it. It had the family drama and some plot twists thrown in but it didn't grip me like her other books have. I liked all of characters, especially Libby, but the rest of the book felt kind of dull to me. Libby was my favorite part of this book and I know we needed to hear the other character's sides to understand the whole story but it just kind of fell flat for me.

Great thriller! It was perfectly dark and twisty, and I will continue to read and recommend Lisa Jewell

THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS is another winner for me from Jewell. The author consistently delivers compelling stories I just can't get enough of.

I have read Lisa’s debut book snd was excited for this one too. Unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. The 3 character narration really threw my off. I felt that it made the story choppy. Additionally there were too many characters and due to that I lost interest in any of their stories. Unfortunately this was a miss for me.

This book was insane! What a thrilling ride. I devoured the entire book in one night. Team no sleep here! Yep, that's me! Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for my arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really thought-provoking mystery and I enjoyed how all the seemingly disparate threads came together. It kept me up late as I was guessing where Jewell would go next- and that's always my favorite thing in a thriller! There are some truly awful people in this book, but the mystery baby and the family dynamics (extended family? cult family) made it unique and fascinating. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for this unbiased review.

I thought there were so many wonderful things about this book--including the premise and the way the different points of view were so distinct from one another. I was invested in Libby's storyline and what in the world happened to her as a baby, the upheaval of Henry's childhood, and Lucy's need to get back to England, but as I kept reading, the story got darker and darker, and I realized that this book wasn't for me. The writing was compelling and definitely visceral in it's descriptions (there's one scene in particular with Lucy that I found really disturbing), so this was just a personal, sensitivity-based decision to stop reading it at about 50%.

Written from three different perspectives (only one of them in first person), this thriller uncovers the secrets surrounding a mysterious from years ago. Libby Jones unexpectedly inherits a house on Cheyne Walk in London when she turns 25, given to her by her birth parents. The house is worth a lot of money, and Libby’s life is about change, but not just because of the house. About 25 years ago, the police arrived at this house to find three dead bodies in an apparent group suicide and a baby crying in a crib.
I enjoyed this book much more than any others I have read from this author. I think she nailed the tension to keep me reading and distinct, interesting characters that I could connect with. Definitely a chilling read, the description alone is pretty creepy, but that’s one of the things I liked about it. The gothic atmosphere in a modern day setting made this book a unique read for me.
The Family Upstairs has a lot of flawed family dynamics and drama, which sometimes became a bit much. It took me a bit to get into the groove of following three perspectives that started out in very different places in the beginning. Once I did, I read through it very quickly, the plot moving me forward every chapter. A specific strength of this book were the cliffhangers at the end of each chapter. They kept shocking me and I couldn’t stop reading.
There was just the right amount of unexpected turns scattered throughout, rather than all at once at the end. In fact, the ending was quite nicely wrapped up which I enjoyed and then the last line was just fantastic. I really, really liked the end, but can’t give too much away! Fans of Lisa Jewell will be especially pleased with this one and if you haven’t read any of her work, this is her new favorite of mine, so I would recommend.

A pretty decent thriller. Loved the concept, and enjoyed the characters. However, the overall execution fell through, and I found it quite boring at times.

Wow! I could not put this novel down. Lisa Jewell, per usual, crafted a mystery that slowly unraveled. I love the character development, particularly with regards to Lucy. Overall, an outstanding novel!

This was a wonderful, twisty novel that kept you guessing and pulled you into the story. This was a thought-provoking novel that I enjoyed and have recommended to many fellow readers.

This book kept me guessing and parts were not at all what I expected, however some of it I was a bit predictable and I was able to figure out. The kids (now adults) that lived in the house really dealt with a lot and it was interesting to read about how they all turned out. I liked Libby and Miller was the perfect match for her while trying to unravel her past life.

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell is told in shifting POV's by three narrators. The story alternates from past to present which I found to be confusing and scattered.
I enjoyed the messed up family dynamics, which give us an interesting story, but I was expecting more of a mystery/thriller.
I do enjoy this author's work and plan to read her other novels, however this one just wasn't for me.

This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

The Family Upstairs is a highly entertaining and creepy read. Author, Lisa Jewell, has fast become a favorite author of mine.

Lisa Jewell is quite the prolific author, these days, writing a new book almost every year for the past 20 years. This novel however was my first dip into Jewell's bibliography.
The Family Upstairs published in 2019 is one of her newest books which I have had the good fortune to read this past week.
Story begins in a rather confusing fashion, characters are introduced and scattered in two countries but the reader doesn't know, at this time, their connection. Well, the somewhat cryptic connection is something about a baby turning 25. What baby Whose baby? And why does it matter?
Well, you'll eventually find out what transpired 25 years ago in this well written, twisty and creepy family saga. It's a fast read and the short chapters entice the reader to continue and discover how these characters meld together. An uninhabited old house, cult-like behavior and questionable characters fuel the story until all threads are tied up.at the conclusion.
