A look at the man they called the gentleman thief. The authors go about with his last heist the 2015 Garden Heist. Along with Brain Reader, a group of elderly thieves get together to pull off this heist or attempt to. They also go into his other heists from when he was younger. A good book and I found myself entertained.
Watched the film first and wanted to read this to find out more. It did not disappoint. A riveting true crime story. Would recommend
Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read One Last Job a true crime book. Written by two crime writers using access to colleagues, official reports and the press archives this is an easy reading romp through the biggest jewellery and gold heist at Hatton Garden, London. It gives a great insight into the planning and characters behind the robbery and a background into a bunch of career criminals' mindsets. I found it very entertaining and worth the read.
Great well written , not my normal true crime murder, crime triller but a refreshing change and loved it was true .
I def would follow writer on furture books to buy and highly recommend
True Crime is my forte. I wasn't disappointed with this. Funny, sad, brave, stupid all rolled into one. One Last Job is the story of the Hatton Garden Heist in 2015. A number of elderly criminals decide to do one last job. Lead by Brian Reader the gang attempted to rob a vault full of security boxes. Recommended reading.
This is another take on the Hatton Garden Robbery through the eyes of the master mind behind it all
It is well written, well researched. Gripping at times and gives you a full picture of this crime.
Thank you to both NetGalley and MIrror Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review
The author's painstaking research and attention to detail is obvious in the writing of this book. There were many facts that I only discovered after reading this!
A fascinating and updated account of the Hatton Garden heist and the men behind it and how they were caught.
It has been written by a couple of experienced Fleet Street crime reporters and the book is well researched and tells it like it was - warts and all.
The level of detail is forensic and the book is an easy but compelling read.
Highly recommended.
This book is about mainly the Hatton Garden heist in England, but also gives a lot of history about different criminals and bigger “jobs” they pulled off through the decades. It also details back when many of the police were crooked and for a price would look the other way, allowing the criminals to do their dirty business unmolested. It gives a good accounting of the Hatton Garden heist, which came very close to being busted, and was a pretty brilliant job.
I found this a very engaging read and would suggest it for anyone who likes this type of book about criminals plotting a bank heist, true crime, etc. set in England. Advance electronic review copy was provided by NetGalley, authors Tom Pettifor & Nick Sommerlad, and the publisher.
