This book was so bittersweet, as we see Ross and Demelza aging while their older two children make their way to marriage and life after Nampara. With only two books left in the series, I’m dreading leaving the Poldark family.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Poldark is an amazing show, but the books have all the details and depth that will captivate your soul!

So happy for the chance to read the original books. I remember reading a couple in my teens and enjoyed them, but I think I appreciate them more now.

Ok it's hard when there are so many books in a series to say something fresh all the time. These books are great. There wouldn't be so many if it wasn't and a show also. Start from the beginning and enjoy is all I can say.

I am enjoying the Poldark series and The Loving Cup is no different. Great read! I am giving it five stars.

This is one of my favourite books in the series. I liked the interaction amongst the characters and the storyline kept my attention as events that happened in previous books were explored further in this novel.

It was good to see some of the familiar faces that haven't had much of a role to play for a while return and to meet a couple of new characters as well. I was particularly interested in Valentine's story, as he continues to defy even the brutishness of his father. it will be interesting for me to see how this finishes, with so many dangerous secrets out there just under the surface.

This book seemed to be a bit faster paced than some of the others and didn't have as many spots where it would fall into a lull. I appreciated that, as it kept me turning pages long into the night.

If you haven't read this book yet, you should. it is an invaluable part of this excellent series.

This review is based on a complimentary copy from the publisher, provided through Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

The Loving Cup is the tenth book in the series and it was a great addition to the series. The characters are well developed and the storyline is entertaining.

The Poldark saga continues in this tenth book. This is a superb series and I enjoyed reading more about Jeremy and Clowance, along with my older favorite characters.
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

First line: On an evening in late June 1813, His Majesty’s Packet Ship Queen Charlotte, Captain Kirkness, master, slid into Falmouth harbor, the long hull scarcely disturbing the water, the evening sun making angular haloes about her lower topsails as they were lifted and furled.

Summary: In the tenth book in the Poldark saga we have Ross, Demelza and their children Jeremy and Clowance trying to find their way in the years at the end of the war with Napoleon. Ross and Demelza are worried for their children who seem to be keeping more and more secrets. Jeremy is struggling with his actions the previous winter and his unrequited love. Clowance is once again in the thralls of Stephen Carrington. As war comes to end it looks life is going to change in Cornwall.

My Thoughts: I really enjoy the Poldark books. They are great stories of a family. Nothing is too dramatic but there is wonderful interactions between our hero and his enemy, George. Once again Stephen Carrington drives me crazy. I cannot stand how this family lets him be around their children. He is just sleazy. I like getting to know some new characters like Henrietta and Amadora. I am hoping that they continue to appear in the last two books. I would like to see how they change the dynamic between their warring menfolk. And the end sets up what I hope to be a fun adventure in book eleven.

FYI: This is book 10 of 12.

**This review actually refers to five books in this series: Stranger From the Sea, The Miller's Dance, The Loving Cup, The Twisted Sword & Bella Poldark**

I really have no clue what rock I was living under....I have no excuse. But, up until recently, I had no idea the Poldark series on television is based on a series of books! I love sweeping historical family sagas. I have no earthly clue how I missed this one! Rectifying the situation immediately!

There are 12 books in the Poldark Saga, written by Winston Graham from 1945-2002. The books are set in Cornwall, starting with Ross Poldark in 1783 and ending with Bella Poldark in 1820.

It's official -- I love this series! And I'm reading my way through all of the books before I watch the television series. I have a rule that before I can watch a film or television adaptation, I have to read the books first. Then I'm acquainted with the characters and can see what they changed/added/kept true to the original, etc. There are actually two Poldark television series. One from BBC in the 1970s that serialized the first seven books. And then the newer series that started in 2015. There have been five seasons of the new show. I can't wait to watch it! Still reading my way through the books first...and enjoying every page!

The four books listed here are books #8-12 of the series. I had review copies of all 5 novels and read them cover to cover. Binge read them, to be honest. I love the characters...the setting....the history. I had to stop periodically and look some things up as I'm not familiar with the time period or history of Cornwall at all. The one problem with reviewing books is that I'm under a deadline. With historical fiction or family sagas, I like to take my time and let the story sink in and savor the characters. But with five books to read, and not having read the first books in the series beforehand, I was a bit lost in names, places, etc. The story was enough to carry me through! I loved every book!

I'm backtracking now and reading the series from the start....and I will re-read these books when I come back around to them. I will have an even better understanding of the characters and history during my second reading! And then I can watch the television show. I'm curious which books it has already covered and which ones are upcoming -- whether it stays true to the books or goes off course, etc.

Great books! I highly recommend this series to any readers who enjoy historical fiction, family sagas, and just history in general!

Love, love, love! :) Here are some extra exclamation points in case I did not make it clear that I enjoy this series: !!!!!!!!

**I read review copies of these novels from St Martins Press via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.)

"The tenth book in Winston Graham's classic Poldark saga, now a major TV series from Masterpiece PBS.

Cornwall 1813

A silver cup lies half-forgotten in a dank cave, amongst a pile of stolen goods. Yet the tiny vessel and its inscription Amor gignit amorem haunts the lives of the still-feuding Poldark and Warleggan families, as Ross, Demelza and the ambitious and powerful Sir George Warleggan watch their children make the decisions that will shape their destinies.

In the closing years of the wars against Napoleon, for Jeremy and Clowance, and for arrogant, cynical Valentine Warleggan, these are troubled and momentous times...

In his Poldark series, Winston Graham explores the complications of love lost and the class struggle of early 19th-century England with a light comic touch. The Loving Cup is followed by the eleventh book in the series, The Twisted Sword."

The final volumes to be released later in October. Also does anyone else not like this version of Geoffrey Charles?

I have re-read the whole Poldark series this year, not for the first time either since I first read them many years ago. They are just as good today! Graham was a marvellous storyteller, and the reader is immersed in the world of early 19th century Cornwall. The story moves on a little more, focusing on the younger generation, that is Clowance and Jeremy Poldark and their circle. Ross has by no means lost his spirit of adventure, and Demelza is as wonderful as ever. A great read.

The Loving Cup is a part of the beautifully written Poldark series. I do not think words would do the Poldark series justice. The prose is stunning and the story is captivating. The romance and ambiance is truly stunning.

I liked this book , it is well written and leaves you wanting more. The tv series on PBS brought these books to life
which is why I wanted to read any that were available. Excellent story about a family in 18th century England . You learn about how life was back then and that human nature hasn't change much since. Family struggles such as making a living, love, loss and war just to name a few . All of which affect the family dynamic.

There are many new books coming out in the series and while I'm glad the series hasn't ended, it almost feels like too much too fast. I suspect that these books may be much better on a more leisurely re-read, but as of right now I feel that although they are good, they just aren't what they could be.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This is one of my favourite books in the Poldark series, and shows why Graham is such a talented author. I find that a lot of family sagas don't properly move onto next generations, and try to focus on too many characters. The Loving Cup gives us enough time with Ross and Demelza and George to continue on the original characters' stories, but we have firmly moved into the second generation now. And although I don't love military history, I think that the setting of the Napoleanic wars and the aftermath was a great choice. (And left us with a cliffhanger that makes you want to grab the next book!)

The Loving Cup by Winston Graham is the 10th book in the Poldark series.

This series truly continues to get better and better. I am beyond invested in the new characters, however I am so glad that Ross and Demelza are still prominently interweaved into their children's’ stories. You find yourself holding your breath, willing the children to head your advice and suggestions, and feel as if you are their parent as well. Mr. Graham is a fabulous storyteller, and I wish this series would never end.

5/5 stars

Thank you NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for this ARC and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion.

I am submitting this review to my GR account immediately and it will be posted to my Amazon, Bookbub, and B&N accounts upon publication.

I remember the series back in the 1970’s and loved it then. I thought I had read all the books in the Poldark series then but it seems I missed some! The new BBC version is every bit as good but the books are better. If you cannot wait for the next series then this release of four books will definitely fill the gap.
